This guy is making some huge progress, in all comps this season (included WC) he has 23 goals in 21 starts, except for Ronaldo, nobody can speak of such stats. I reckon he'll get 40 goals this season, that would be more than RVP has ever scored in a season and would equal Falcao and Rooney's best scoring season. Amazing.

Aye he seems to be really developing well and at a quick rate, he's great to watch when he's in full flow and not rolling about all over the place too.

He is scoring more because Messi is playing deeper and creating tons of chances for him and co.

He was always prolific for Brazil, especially against weaker opponents.

He has always been prolific his whole career, since he was like 18, but this season he has kicked it up a notch, he has 11 goals in 10 starts for Brazil this season.

6 out of those 11 came against Turkey and Japan(not criticiseing, just explaining), he was doing similar stuff in previous years too.

Japan and Turkey arent poor national teams at all...

They aren't, I maybe picked wrong examples, but the point stays the same. He bulked up his tally in the game against Japan, otherwise his goal per game ratio this year for Brazil is pretty much the same as his goal per game ratio in total for them.

Even if he dives around too easily, he has gotten stronger on the ball since his arrival in Europe. He's developing into a very dangerous and consistent player.

Because Almería, Granada and other Liga teams are juggernauts right?

Impressive numbers. He'll win the Ballon d'Or when Ronaldo and Messi are done.

Definitely the obvious candidate once those two are done, but saying that , it's still a few years away and brazilians are notorious for fading away at a youngish age in recent years.

Oh, yes. He's got a big challenge ahead of him in that respect. Hopefully he can break the trend.

One of my favourite players outside United. Shame he is now playing beside Suarez so I can't "support" him for Barca anymore.

Hazard could have won the Ballon d'Or the year he was born. If he wanted to.

What? I'd rather say underrated.

Massive reputation right from the get go in Brazil, reached a point where there was even premature talk of him being better than Messi as well, though I put that largely down to Pele talking out his arse.

He's anything but underrated. Good player, nothing more, nothing less.

Dont know whom you're hanging around with but I've never heard anyone say he is better than Messi.. If you think he is just a good player, who do you rate world class I wonder?

Dunno, but he most certainly isn't world class, not yet anyway.

Who do you have in the world class category then, he was class last season, but this season has kicked it up a notch and has shown to be vital for his club and country, what does he have to do more?
The problem with Neymar is that he's using his ability. You're not supposed to want to show that - it's graceless and unrefined.

I don't care that he dives around, the guy is class, love watching him play. The only Brazilian player I like.

Apart from Rafa <3

Jesus H. What is he 22, almost 23 ? And already has 42 goals for the national team...

Not that he's a better player or anywhere even close, but considering Ronaldo scored 62 career goals and Pele 77, it wouldn't be the least bit surprising if Neymar ends up shattering their totals.

Matter of fact, he might even go on to eclipse Ali Daei's international record of 109 goals.

People love to hate him.

Where were Arguero/Hazard or anyone else that everyone seems to call world class, in the world cup?

Brazil were home and everything was expected from and he delivered. Unless he sufferes from the brazilian curse in his mid 20s, he should go on to be the heir to Messi and Ronaldos Balon Dor crown.

Is that including games in friendlies? Because he obviously didn't have any qualifiers with Brazil too, so he's lost like 15 months of competitive fixtures.

Yes.

32 of those are in friendlies, but AFAIK they are counted in career figures. Puts him behind only Pele, Ronaldo, Romario and Zico.

If Welbeck is considered a good player in here then Neymar is a god.
In any case, in his current form he's in top 10 attackers easily.

All I can say is I wish United had a player as 'overrated' as Neymar.

Except Welbeck is rank average. I can understand the nutters on here fawning over him, it's always nice to see one of your own do well, but how he's managed to amass 30 caps already is mystifying. It's embarassing seeing so many average joes in the England set up.

How can he still have any doubters? He's had an answer to every question critics have raised to him. The numbers he's putting up are a whole lot of naysayers look not so smart atm.

Interestingly Pelé was more prolific in competitive games than in friendlies. His record in friendlies was 34 goals in 50 friendlies whereas his record in competitive games was 43 goals in 42 games. 8 goals in 6 Copa America games, 12 goals in 14 World Cup games and 6 goals in 5 World Cup qualification games along with a few other mini-tournaments.
