Our Rivals Squad next year - Arsenal

It took him a few games but you can really see he is ready to push on now. I think his injuries took their toll on him but he looks over that now. You forget sometimes that he only turned 21 a few months ago but hopefully he keeps on progressing now.

Can't understand why Bellerin didn't get a chance in the last few weeks. Chambers is a great player and will become a brilliant CB but he doesn't have the pace to play wide. Meanwhile Monreal plays at CB and doesn't look like he has a clue what to do. Bellerin was brilliant in the Emirates Cup. It all fits, the way I see it. Instead, Wenger decided to do the same stupid thing 5 times and wait for it to start working, somehow.

He probably didn't want to have two 19 year olds in defence playing next to each other.

Chambers as DM...a option???

Yohan Cabaye, who Arsenal bid £10 million for last August, is back on the Gunners’ radar, along with Sevilla’s Grzegorz Krychowiak and Everton’s James McCarthy. France international Cabaye moved to Paris Saint-Germain in a £19 million deal from Newcastle only in January, but has already admitted that he could look to leave the Ligue 1 club after not starting as many games as he would like.

Wenger had been given a January budget of around £20million, but there is an acceptance inside Arsenal that may need to be increased because of the amount of injuries he has been hit by. Ideally, Wenger would like to sign new a midfielder and two defenders which would almost certainly cost more than £20 million.

Not doing well at PSG at all, fans don't especially like him and he's not getting much of a look in. Shame, cos he's a good player, so wouldn't surprise me if he's loaned out/sold.

Really like Krychowiak but I'd be surprised if he left Sevilla so soon after arriving there.

I don't know why our scouts didn't make a move for Krychowiak in the summer, surely with him being in good form in France he would have been spotted by our scouts. Like you say I am not so sure we would be able to sign him unless we make a very big offer. He has been in sparkling form for Sevilla though.

It did seem like a typical Arsenal move, good season in a bit of a second rate Ligue 1 team. The problem was that he actually addressed one of your needs, so I guess the scouts wrote him off.

Whilst we're on the subject from the entire Liverpool squad I'd take Sterling and from the entire Arsenal squad I'd take Sanchez and Oxlade Chamberlain. That would probably be it.

Shaw definitely would, Herrera would, Rojo probably not and Blind is an excellent defensive midfielder.

Gibbs isn't any worse than Shaw, Herrera isn't better than Arsenal's midfielders, Rojo definitely not and Blind is good. Javi Martinez is excellent. Blind is a good, solid midfielder.

Cant honestly say any of those would get in. They'd be replacing Rooney, Mata and Di Maria I imagine.

Ramsay would get in because he is better than Fellaini and Herrera. The other two wouldn't, Ozil hasn't done much more than Di Maria so far despite the extra season and he's also the reason that Arsenal didn't go for Fabregas thus handing the title to Chelsea.

Shaw is miles better than Gibbs defensively and going forward. He's been one our best performing signings yet I still see he's still being criticized by some people for no reason expect because he was bought for a lot of money? Herrera is currently better than Wilshere and Arteta, brilliant midfielder.

I'd take Ramsey in the middle over Fellaini/Herrera any day of the week. The other two, nah.

I rate Shaw and haven't criticised him once. There's not much between the two left backs and Shaw is certainly not better going forward.
Again, Herrera isn't brilliant and he's not much better than Wilshere. Herrera and Arteta wouldn't be competing for the same role in midfield anyway, they're completely different players. He would be competing with Ramsey. The "brilliant" Herrera is struggling to get into van Gaal's team.

True enough, I kind of assume every arsenal player is a number 10 but he seems to play better coming from deep so it'd be herrera not mata he'd replace.

Wilshere is bang average in my opinion and I would take Herrera over him any day. Yeah Herrera does struggle to get in our team despite being very good

My joint team would be:

Wait ... this is the Liverpool thread. Everybody feck off to the Arsenal one.

So, to continue our discussion from the Liverpool thread, although Ramsey hasn't set the world alight this season I'd still take him over Fellaini or Herrera.
