Our Rivals Squad next year - Arsenal

So, to continue our discussion from the Liverpool thread, although Ramsey hasn't set the world alight this season I'd still take him over Fellaini or Herrera.

My joint team would be:

Fair shout. Though like all these thought experiments its a little wonky. Of Herrera, Fellaini and Ramsey, Fellaini has actually had the best form over the last few months. Even though Ramsey has had the best career to date. But few United fans and no Arsenal fans would have Fellaini in their dream team ahead of Herrera or Ramsey.

Despite that, in the real world Fellaini more than deserved to continue in the team when Herrera came back from injury. Its neither fair nor prudent to drop a player who's playing really well.

If we would have Koscielny, Mertesacker and Sanchez in our team the defensive aspects of Fellaini's game wouldn't be as important as they are right now. So I think Ramsey would offer more in that team.

Koscielny strikes me as a decent defender, Mertesacker is rubbish though.

I still think it's only Sanchez and Oxlade Chamberlain that we'd take, you could maybe argue Ramsay but he's been poor this season.

Definitely wouldn't want Ozil, he's been an overpriced flop.

Decent team but I wouldn't have Mertesacker there, he's been poor and seems to be going through a post-WC slump. I'd choose Smalling who we know Wenger is a fan of too.

Only reason for me to not pick Mertesacker would be his lack of pace. I'd then choose Jones ahead of Smalling as the second CB.

Shaw wouldn't, Herrera wouldn't, Rojo wouldn't and that Blind would says more about their lack of options.

Rojo wouldn't. Herrera, meh, 50/50 between him and Wilshere. Blind definitely would - what's the point of mentioning a lack of options? What, if Arsenal had Martinez, he wouldn't start? The fact is, in Arsenal's current state, he would. And Shaw is definitely better than Gibbs.

That'd be alright.

Arsenal are apparently in for Krystian Bielik - 16 year old defensive midfielder from Legia. They've contacted them about him already but there's still nothing on the table. He'd cost around 1.5 mln Euro.

Good to see that Arsene finally spotted lack of proper defensive midfielder in his team and decided to fix the problem.

surprise surprise no RVP:lol:

Both Rooney and Mata are better than Ozil.
Shaw is better than Gibbs.
It would be close between Rafael and Debuchy.
I think Ox would be ahead of Ramsey in a best 11, so maybe it would be more of a 4-1-4-1

Yeah, but he's rehashing another age old problem, by entrusting in a kid!

This is the thing: Is it actually close? Okay, fair enough, if we're going off injuries, then Debuchy wins, but Rafael is far more talented. Not to mention, he's been a fairly integral part of 3 title-winning teams. What has Debuchy done to merit being picked over Raf?

Rafael is far from crap, and has more defensive ability than you credit him for... He is, however, an injury prone little shit, so Debuchy would be the better option.

Debuchy has barely played 5 games for Arsenal, so we don't even know if he can hack it so far at this level. I'd rather stick with a player who has helped secure championships to be honest.

Sure I have no issues with people picking Gibbs over Shaw as things currently stand. I think the latter is a better player but he's only around infrequently for us so far.

Right now I think Gibbs shades things but Shaw will likely be the far better of the two by the time he's 24/25.

Seeing fans of a club that finished out of Europe entirely mock the fa cup and compare it to a preseason friendly is both pathetic and hilarious. Unless it's just "banter", in which case it's just a waste of time because the extent of any wumming I do in the football forums is to say Man Utd. If you're looking for that go tag Barney or Dumbstar.
