Compilation worthy half that was from him. It looked like Chievo was 2 men down TBH.
He has to improve his positioning while Juve are not in possession, but attacking part of his game is something special.

How Tom Cleverley was getting favouritism over Pogba was a joke. Fergie loved Cleverley because he had been at the club since he was a kid. Fergie must be kicking himself he didn't give him more games but Pogba would have fecked off to Madrid after a couple of seasons with us anyways but still at least we'd have gotten 80 million for him

We all knew what Pogba was capable of, Sir Alex didn't want to see it.

I think Ferguson wanted to be harsh on Pogba to show him who ruled here, no matter how talented you were. Even though he was asking for games he wouldn't give him any to make a point. I remember at the time the vast majority on him were happy about it as well as the fact that we were rumoured to be unwilling to offer him £20k (because it was too much for a youngster). I remember plenty of people laughing at him for moving to Juventus where he was supposed to be further behind the likes of Pirlo, Marchisio and Vidal than he were behind Anderson, Cleverley and Carrick at United.

Fergie wanted to make an example out of him and it ended this way.

What formation do Juve play these days and where does Pogba fit in?
4:3:1:2. Allegri's favorite. Pogba is always the left CM. Their formation is more fluid than ours though. He has a lot of freedom.

Obviously he wasn't as good as now but you could already see what a unique kind of player he could become- player combining strength and technique (already very good at both at the time he left us). There was a lot of things to improve but he needed game time on higher levels than academy and reserves to develop. He couldn't get that with us, so he left, good decision from him.

LvG would soon beat that out of him. He'd put him at CB.
Yeah, that's why I specifically pointed it out. Juve's style and Allegri's management have a lot to do with his rapid development imo. He's allowed and encouraged to do whatever he pleases and he always looks to be enjoying himself on the pitch. I don't think he'd play the same way in our current static, minimal risk setup and under the "individual=bad, team=good" philosophy.

Would he have thrived under SAF if he had kept him?

He was nowhere near this good when he was here, he has developed by going to Juve. Should we have kept him, probably, but a lot of clubs regret letting players go and see them develop somewhere else.
If he stayed at Utd he would have developed into a different player, not as good as he is currently (because he wouldn't have benefited from that much playing time at the beginning) but still a great young CM.
I think we can comment on his performances without attempting to re-write history as a lot of caftards like to do. SAF was right to let him go because he didn't wanna keep a pb who wasn't happy under his orders and Pogba was right to leave because being at Juventus has allowed to develop him as a great player and an undroppable member of the national team.

True or maybe play him as a striker.

Fergie's biggest mistake?

in the context of our team really short on CM talent and bringing Scholes out of retirement/playing Jones, Rafael, Park there rather than using this kid

worse for me than replacing Stam with Blanc

(obviously Fergie's worst mistake is not bringing in Mourinho as his replacement but humour me)

It's not only his goals though, his all round game is developing well and he is key to a lot of our attacks in general. If it was up to me i wouldn't sell him at all even for 100 million i would rather keep him.

That is insane.

Not quite IMO. From what I remember a lot of people were very critical of him and supported Ferguson's decisions.

No one was critical of him and no one supported Sir Alex decision on him, infact it wasn't Sir Alex decision, the only decision (or feck up) Sir Alex made with Pogba was holding him back and not giving him an opportunity here just like he never with a lot our academy players on his latter years.

It was Pogba who left the club on his own accord and good for him, he knew what was best for his career and probably against the advice of the likes of Sir Alex/Rio Ferdinand, went his own way and is now probably the best youngster in the world.

In the academy though good as Pogba was, Ravel Morrison always looked to be the crown jewel.
