This guy is making some huge progress, in all comps this season (included WC) he has 23 goals in 21 starts, except for Ronaldo, nobody can speak of such stats. I reckon he'll get 40 goals this season, that would be more than RVP has ever scored in a season and would equal Falcao and Rooney's best scoring season. Amazing.

The WC is included in the 2013/14 season.
To Neymar; he has finally arrived in europe. Good season last year, not great.
He,Suarez and Messi are of course a dream trio. Will be interesting who of them will become top dog in the last months of this season.

P.S. I also would like to add that I respect Neymars numbers for Brazil but you also have to put them in perspective.
He played mostly friendlies, often against not so great nations. And Brazil is lacking other great offensive players. So he is the focal point of a very good midfield and gets numbers which are a bit inflated imo.

If I played up front with him I'd be really reluctant to pass him the ball knowing I'd likely never see it again.

Would have been a special goal. He's starting to gel well with Messi. I think Suarez will need another 10-15 games, but we can afford such luxury considering Messi/Neymar keeps playing like this. I feel he runs faster with the ball compared to Messi now.

He has loads of assists

Last season perhaps, he got 16 assists and 15 goals in 41 appearances.

This season he has 3 in 15 and already has 13 goals. He's become very selfish this season, last night aside.

His role has changed and Barcelona with it. Last season he suffered very much from being shifted out as an out and out winger and you can just look at Di Maria to see what kind of effect that can have on a player. Neymar usually stayed out wide way more, clearly with different instructions as his natural self is to drift towards goal and quite freely.

This year they have realized this, Messi has taken on more of a playmaking role which means that now Neymar has been allowed to make those runs towards goal. The last game was a bit of an oddity, Neymar was played on the left - Messi and Suarez on the right/centrally.

They looked twice the team when Messi was out wide than Suarez who just isn't a world class winger, while Messi seemed to get involved more himself.

In the offense they played Jordi Alba and Dani Alves as the most offensive players very often - as outside wingers placed as far out wide on each side line as possible to stretch the defense - or force them to make a decision. Either they mark Messi, Suarez and Neymar on the inside of them - or they try to also mark the Alba/Alves which stretches their team enough for Messi/Suarez/Neymar to take advantage of it. Don't think it will work against other top teams but it will be interesting to see, if they opt to use it then too.

He's not really a winger though. He's a forward. But he's really improved this season imo.

A wide-forward perhaps?

He is great to watch, and I hope he is able to fully emerge from Messi's shadow.

Scary that he's still only 22 (23 next month), seems like he's been around forever.

He's really underrated and overrated at the same time. At the same time, he's very punchable.

He has now scored in top matches vs Atleti (twice), PSG, Real, is scoring something around 1 goal per 90 minutes, how good is he? Could you classify him as the best winger of now (probably along with Robben) as Bale isnt as good as last season.

Seems to thrive under the pressure, for Brazil all hopes rest on him and he takes it all in his stride. It also helps having Messi behind him, love to see a stat of how many he has set up for Neymar.

8 assists for him this season, zero last season.

Seems like I've gone from hating him to really liking him in a very short space of time. Brilliant player and actually quite likeable most of the time.

Yeah he's having much better season than Bale (much higher ceiling IMO). Barca attack is remarkably talented, nobody gets even close.

OT:
I was just wondering what does it take for someone like @Pogue Mahone to have more than 72k posts. Well, he averages more than 22 messages per day for a span of about 9 years!

Suarez, messi and neymar could very well be the best front 3 I have ever seen play for the same team. When they click (and Barca sorts out their defense) they should be ripping la liga apart

Phenomenal player. What struck me most about him was the Confederation Cup and the World Cup. Here's a young player with the weight of the world on his shoulders and having to fill the shoes of some of the greatest players ever and he stepped up and delivered. That's the mark of a great player. Hopefully he keeps his head on his shoulders and doesn't become irrelevant at such a young age like some of his compatriots.

Was never fully convinced he justified the hype but this season he's looked excellent, easily one of the best attackers in world football at the minute. I'd be surprised if he doesn't end his career without having won the Balon D'or. He's got the reputation so all he needs is a season where he is at least one of the top players (once Messi and Ronaldo have gone) and his image should seal it for him.

Shares his birthday with Ronaldo, Tevez & Januzaj.

he's improved a fair bit this season, played wonderfully well today I thought.

How some doubted his talent remains a mystery to me. Even in his early days at santos it was clear that brazil have a gem on their hands.

Because plenty of these Brazilian wonder-kids never live up to the hype. Neymar, to those who watched Brazilian football, may have seen why he was different from the others, but to those who don't I think it should be pretty clear why people were sceptical. Plus, in his big international friendlies I always seem to remember him performing poorly and they would have been the first times many saw him play.

He's always performed on the NT.

He also had big national team performances vs big countries too i.e vs holland, guess the naysayers chose to focus on the not so great ones. Regardless though, no matter how his performance was in some matches the talent was clear for all to see, he's as much a sure bet as i've seen in recent years.

I definitely have watched him have some poor performances for Brazil. He was poor at Wembley when England won for starters.
The number of poor games he has played for Brazil can be counted on one hand, in that case. I don't think there's any player better than him for their respective NTs.

I'm not saying his hype was never justified, my point is that I think it is easy to understand why people felt it wasn't, or at least weren't confident in his ability to translate dominant performances in the Brazilian league into dominant performances in Spain, England, Germany etc.

He's one of the most exciting players to watch in world football and handled the World Cup pressure incredibly for such a young guy, but he's certainly a WUM on the pitch.

He's a cracking player. Think his main strike buddy deserves a lot of credit for boosting his performances this season too.

He's actually become quite clinical as of late too, and credit to him, when so many of his team mates are happy just to keep rolling the ball sideways for 90 minutes, he usually tries to make something happen

but he had done it vs some really big countries with their big name players on the field, why was the league going to be all that different? What should've been clear to naysayers is that he has a combination of qualities that was always going to translate well into any league in the world. Its not like he had any big deficiencies in his game.

To think he's only 22 as well and he's this good. Have to admit, I knew he had the talent but thought he'd be held back by poor attitude. He's proved me wrong though.

Interesting.. Feb 5 seems to be a hit among the footballers. Apart from these, there's also Hagi, Cesare Maldini, Ruben Cano, Giovanni van Bronckhorst, Rodrigo Palacio and Jordan Rhodes were all born on February 5.
