Heh? Thats not a pen, he fell. Contact minimal
Minimal? You barely can make a less minimal contact, he used his whole body to make the foul, he purposely blocked Torres' path whilst not in control of the ball.

I wouldn't be a penalty as I've now learned though, an obstruction is an indirect free kick.

So Real Madrid couldn't even beat Atlético with the referee on their side...

Real players clapping there fans from the halfway line, poor to see that they can't be bother to walk half the pitch. Ramos and callias were going mad at them.

2 hours down the drain. Hopefully tomorrow isn't as disappointing.

they boo their own players when things don't go their way (aka winning by 5 goals), even Ronaldo is booed, you can understand their resentment.

Ref gave absolutely nothing to Atletico. Real lucky to leave without a sending off.
I didn't mind most of the game. It was physical, not a lot of diving. He let them play on as much as he could. Obviously Carvajal should have been sent off but I don't think it was the ref's fault that he didn't. It's not like Real were getting fouls and then for the exact same fouls, Atlético didn't get anything. He was consistent. Just didn't catch the red card offenses.

Would be funny to see him call the Ramos foul on Torres. Indirect free kick. The Atlético players would have gone mental.

Now I believe Isco is better than bale, I have no idea why he played the all game
Just a case of the boring spaniard being benched for the exotic welshman. Pretty stupid but what can you do

I always thought that was the case but you seldom see it, I'm not sure why

You're right, it's an offence that hardly ever gets called now. It used to be a common enough offence when I was a kid.

I don't know why it's changed. Probably something to do with a change in interpretation of the related descriptions of whether "the ball is under the control" of a player and the definition of shielding the ball. We need an old fashioned ref to explain the evolution of the rule.

I am not trying to defend the Real fans but Real's trophy haul and performance in the big games since they bought Ronaldo is abysmal. That's almost 6 years now with 1 league title, two Copa del Reys and 1 CL title with a mediocre record against Atlético and Barcelona. If I was a fan of theirs and considering the investment in the team, I certainly wouldn't consider myself spoiled if I wasn't happy with that return.

Looking at the results, quite glad I missed the games tonight.

Athletico had 3 penalty shouts. They should have at least gotten one. Ref bottled it.
