No surprise in the Bayern starting eleven either (not that they would have much choices)

#FCBayern starting XI: Neuer - Alonso, Dante, Thiago, Lewandowski, Rafinha, Boateng, Bernat, Götze, Lahm (C), Müller. #FCPFCB

Makes:
Neuer
Rafinha - Boateng - Dante - Bernat
....................Alonso
...............Lahm - Thiago
....................Götze
............Müller - Lewandowski

bench: Reina, Lucic - Pizarro, Gaudino, Rode, Badstuber, Weiser

PSG line-up looks quite weak (injuries and suspensions the cause):

Sirigu, van der Wiel, Thiago Silva, Marquinhos, Maxwell, Rabiot, Matiudi, Pastore, Cabaye, Lavezzi, Cavani

Pissed off that Fabiano is starting ahead of Helton. That aside it's our best XI in my opinion, and exactly the XI I use on FIFA.

They will miss Verrati but Lucas being back is a big boost for them up front.

Are you joking? That's ridiculous

David Luiz and Lucas made the bench, but neither are close to match fitness. I reckon Veratti is the biggest loss for PSG. Injuries and suspensions have kinda brought down the occasion.

I thought Martinez was injured.

He was in doubt but is playing. Wasn't even called for the league match this weekend. I hope we're not rushing him and it was just a case of keeping our cards hidden.

Gary Neville just said Veratti can be a liability defensively? Is that true? I thought he was meant to be quite good in that regard

G.Neville is clueless tbh, Verratti has been great in every match he's played against Barca this season and in the previous one. He is a little reckless with his tackling but in no way he is a liability in terms of defending.

I was going to say that this could be the tie that establishes psg as a big player on the European front, but they seem to have lots of injuries??

Glenn Hoddle just said the PSG midfield isn't truly class and they don't have a Fabregas/Iniesta. Redknapp counters with saying that Verratti will be that kind of player and he's only 22. Then Thiery Henry starts making noises and comes out with "Verratti is more of a hard worker and isn't Iniesta who is just class".

Sky Sports punditry is something else. It wasn't even that long ago that Verratti dominated the whole chelsea midfield!

Looking forward to seeing verrati today. He's impressed me hugely every time I've seen him. Looks a really gifted player from a technical point of view.

Injuries and suspensions have fecked them. They have a very good first 11 but not a great squad in general, this is why Blanc has had to play many of the players over and over again.

Same old clichés from Hoddle about competitiveness, French league this, PL that... blabla. Couldn't even be arsed to take a look at the league table, eh?

Incredible given their spending power than they don't have a big squad.

Yes, in terms of aggressiveness I would indeed note that. But you have to keep in mind that the typical old school of British defending is highly skeptical of playing out from the back and regard anything other than hoofing the ball clear as a "defensive liability". Hence,...

*yes, yes, exaggeration for effect*

It was embarrassing to watch. All 3 of them are shit.

I'd say Henry is the closer to the truth, Verratti works very hard and isn't Iniesta yet in terms of class (altough the current Iniesta isn't as good as he can be), he's a very different player. He loves long diagonals towards Zlatan and Cavani for instance.

They get fleeced by every club they sign players from so instead of buying several good players, they spend way too much on one or two.
Is Zlatan out because of his ban for slagging off France?
Red card vs Chelsea in the return leg

This is sad but so true. I mean how many years will it take to change that sort of mentality ?

It's probably down to them as much. Chelsea don't get fleeced by everyone. I guess over time they'll become more prudent and make less signings like spungebob for 40 million.

PSG will have higher energy today without Verratti according to old Neville

To be fair it is changing. Premier teams are much better today at getting the ball on the floor playing than when I started watching. And that wasn't even very long back. Just looking at last season, city and Liverpool played some very slick short passing stuff.

Neville is pretty typical in this sense like other pundits where he has his players he likes and those he doesn't and just keeps going on about them in that vein. Don't think I've noticed verrati lacking energy

Eh I thought it was a clean challenge by Neuer.

EDIT: Maybe not. Should have been a red... Bayern-Dusel. BOOO

I don't get it. Isn'T that a red card for Neuer?
