Books A Song of Ice and Fire (Books) | TV show? What TV show?

Fecking Olly can't wait to stab Jon in the back.

Guess that guy is the Night's King then?

Now that was stunning from a visual perspective!

Any of you guys buying this Tyrion is a secret targ theory floating around?

I don't see the point of such theories tbh. They can never be proven otherwise.

Don't think it's true anyway. He's been built up as Tywin's son far too much for it not to be true.

It's just harmless speculation for the most part. The interesting thing is since his mom dies giving birth to him, it is possible that it was a product of rape by the mad king and the only two people who know are dead. I agree with you though, don't think it's true either.

I wouldn't be overly surprised if the twins were secret Targs, but Tyrion is definitely Tywin's son.

The Hardhome bits were very impressive. It reminded me of the first seasons of the show.

I was disappointed with the Sansa arc in the show but now I think it could come out good. Her finding out about Bran and Rickon first is intriguing and has potential. It gives her character some purpose finally.

Amazing episode. That was easily the best battle scene since Blackwater.

The show definitely seems to be going to way of Dragons vs White Walkers as the ultimate face-off anyway.

I did laugh when zombie children ripped the new woman we were to assume would be an integral new character to shreds.

I had given up on the fighting scenes after the Power Rangers-eqsue choreographies this season (Unsullied vs Harpies and that Dorne thing, whatever you want to call it). A really pleasant surprise today.

The fight itself was awesome but am I the only one who thinks they rushed it a bit? I can't believe I'm complaining about the build-up since it seems that's all this season ever does but still... For Jon to arrive, convince half of the wildlings within a day and exactly that same day the wights and White Walkers arrive? A little bit too convenient for me. It would've been nice if Jon was already there for a couple of days, I can't imagine that those wildlings would be persuaded that quickly.

Excellent episode overall though. Sansa's arc might finally becoming interesting now she knows about Bran and Rickon and the battle of Winterfell is imminent. This Tyion and Dany stuff is intriguing as well.

I thought the fight was the best thing about the episode especially the visual aspect of it. I can see where you're coming from mind but had they taken any more time people would have been moaning on slow it was...

Sansa's arc still doesn't make any sense whatsoever but at least it might get more interesting from now. Didn't like the Tyrion scene at all. You just know it's going to be another exercise on how bloody awesome Tyrion is all the fecking time:boring: Hope that's not how the books end up.

The white walkers not being able to swim is a pretty important revelation for the books as well. I was beginning to think the wall itself was a massive plot hole if they could just swim around it or freeze it.

Was obvious she was going to die from the moment she put her kids on the boat

Holy shit what a fecking battle! That was epic. Are they going to kill Snow in the tv show? I've really grown to like him in the show. Funniest moment was Tormund(?) smashing that dude to pieces, wasn't expecting it  Awesome at the end as well with the white walker with his arms up raising more dead as if to say "beat this"

So pleased they nailed this after doing such a poor job of Blackwater

The guy whose head he smashed in was the one who was swapped with Mance in the books. Some have said they included it as a "feck you", to people who thought Mance might still be alive. Which was clever of them.

If they don't (and I'm aware the books and show are almost separate entities entirely at this stage) and since the makers were told by GRRM the gist of the story and how it will play out, I reckon it might point very strongly towards Jon being Azor Ahai reborn, not Stannis as Melisandre thinks. I think it was particularly telling that the sword he got from Mormont can kill white walkers, given the following book exerpts:

There will come a day after a long summer when the stars bleed and the cold breath of darkness falls heavy on the world. In this dread hour a warrior shall draw from the fire a burning sword. And that sword shall be Lightbringer, the Red Sword of Heroes, and he who clasps it shall be Azor Ahai come again, and the darkness shall flee before him.

Melisandre: I pray for a glimpse of Azor Ahai, and R'hollor shows me only Snow.

Not to mention the dream Jon has in ADWD where he fights the Others with a flaming sword in his hand.

If he survives the season, I personally will take it as all but confirmed to be honest.

I actually thought it was better for the lack of build up. Usually with battles like this we know they're coming well in advance so it was a nice change of pace to have a surprise attack, especially as we hadn't seen the WWs in a while. Plus it added to the sense of emergency with the evacuation.

Also, it wasn't a battle that really needed much build up given how long they've been establishing the White Walker v human conflict over the five seasons. I mean the wildlings are in a desperate enough situation that they'd make up their minds pretty quickly, I'd have thought.

Hmm, interesting! Of course they could get that little weird kid guy to stab Snow next episode or the one after.

I don't remember too much about the Mance storyline, in some ways it's a good thing the show is changing a lot as so much of the fourth and fifth books was crap. Just need Brienne to die or feck off at some point, Fat Sam and Gilly to feck off to the Citadel and never return, and Daenery's to do something now Tyrion's there.

Wow, the level of entertainment in this episode was a huge shift from anything they've served up this season.

Yeah, if that happens fair enough, but if not then I'll be fairly convinced of what I said before.

Of course it will happen! They haven't been bringing up his parents in every bloody episode for nothing. He'll stab Jon sure enough though he obviously won't die.

He's getting stabbed. The dialogue between Sam and that kid couldn't have made it more obvious - Sometimes you've got to make choices everyone thinks are wrong but you know to be right - or whatever it was. Might as well have said - kill Jon. Plus, nobody cares about the little fecker, yet they keep shoving him and his story at our faces the whole season. There's certainly a reason for that.

Sam also said "don't you worry about Jon, he always comes back" or something like that :smirk:

Well, they won't have any king material left at this rate!

That was a great episode. I'd like to know how the White Walker king got down from that cliff so quickly though!
