Still in the middle of watching so I'll probably find something to be more annoyed about soon but why change Cat of the Canals to Lana? There's literally no reason for that other than for the sake of it.

I don't think Olly is going to stab Snow up.I think it might be a ruse to keep viewers and book readers in particular guessing.Unlike the book I think there is absolute zero chance the show will kill him for good.Like a lot of things they have either dumbed down or removed,I think they might leave out the whole Azor Ahai thing and whatever confusing revival that is likely to happen in the book.
Maybe as some sort of equality thing. Ygritte wore the same suit if I remember correctly. They probably don't have a lot of resources to make different kind of clothes, plus it's always winter over there so basically they only need one outfit.
If that happens I'll be f*cked off. They seem to love the idea of making new characters to fulfill certain plot points. They had him kill Ygritte when it was much better to have it left open with Jon Snow wondering who fired the arrow that killed her.
Glad they included Wun Wun too.

But yeah, I'm pleased Wun Wun is in.

Thought that wildling woman's short story was done really well, clearly an influential figure, fierce warrior and all that but also a devoted mother, just the sight of those dead kids killed her, lost all hope there and then.
It's difficult to make zombies scary nowadays but gotta hand it to them, they nailed it, got some of the fear across really well and I think it's mostly down to how they have portrayed the White Walkers themselves.
Just for the sake of some criticism... Tyrion seemed like a different character this episode, either he had new writers or more likely they were just like "Have you seen what them other lot have got planned for this episode? Just get him and Dany to become buddies ASAP, by the end nobody will give a feck.

I was kind of split on her. On one hand, she was an interesting character who managed to show a fair bit of personality and was well done for a one-episode newly written character, but at the same time, the whole “parent tells their kids they’ll be behind them but dies”, cliché was a bit too obvious. I was hoping that she’d be a reworked version of Val from the books, who was a good character and has a decent dynamic with Jon.
I didn’t feel too much was up with Tyrion though. He was still being his usual sarcastic, pessimistic self, and seemed determine to show that he can be brutally honest with Daenerys, while not attacking her too much.
I get the impression that the, “I’d be happy to die” stuff from him is bullshit, since he’ll want to live, but he’s not gone through quite the same level of depressive bouts in this season as he did in ADWD, which is actually quite good, since that got a bit tedious eventually.

I guess since they are living in an invironment with limitied access to materials they all make their clothes from the same animal/material. It is also probably a matter of distinguishing themself as a unit, like the nightwatchers wearing black for instance.
Wun Wun passed them within two steps.I can see Ramsay's little stealth crew 'I'll take 20 men' attack Stannis' camp, which will kill a few men and result in Stannis sending Mel/Selyse/Shireen back to the wall, and then Jon getting 'for the watch'd' in episode 10. Potentially fatal wounds but Mel will sort him in season 6. AA confirmed and what-have-you, hopefully without the need to burn Shireen too.

Possibly, but it's way too in your face. His simple presence and the one or two angry faces in the first episodes would have been enough. They're pushing it so hard to prove to viewers there is some justification in a mutiny against Jon.
I just don't see them go through all the magical weird stuff associated with Azor Ahai and a resurrection.The show has been pushing the Jon's honour and commitment a lot this season.Refusing the Stark name and Melisandre advances,even putting an arrow through Mance.Would be a big leap for him to go from that to being involved in some sort of fiery ritual.You never kniw though.
That's right,it would be weird if they showed zero resentment from the nights watchs side.
Super episode and very enjoyable
Only gripe is how quickly Tyrion managed to convince Dani to give him a place at her side - she seemed incredibly naive considering his brother killed her father and his family tried to kill her since birth.... bit silly

I don't think it'll be mandatory to have him resurrect, rather nurse him back from severe wounds. At that point she realises he is AA, as, like you say, showing magic in the show is too awkward if done too largely. Mainly why I understood no LS.
However, with that said... The novels seem to show how the world that was left bereft of magic is now once again plagued with it. The show has to portray that in a sense.
Thought the same. They do cut to the chase on a lot of things but overall i think they are doing a good job with the adaption

Forget which one of you quoted bits from the books about Jon being Azor Ahai; I really must have overlooked that. I've had the impression that Bran was, the whole time. But it makes so much sense if it's Jon.
