De Gea is worth far more than £30m if his contract wasn't running down.

However it is..

Turning down an offer of £25m+ would mean we value him at the equivalent of £500k+ per week. Might make us feel we had got one over on RM but probably makes very little financial sense.

When is he able to sign a pre contract agreement with RM to joint them next year on a free?

Whatever happens, they're getting a bargain.

Surely United could've thought this through, offered him a big bump in wages to sign a new contract a few years ago? If he'd stayed we win. If he wanted to go we get more money.

With the crazy state of transfer fees at the moment, anything less than £40m is a joke. And to be honest, he's worth loads more than that to a team.

People may say if it's not your money why do you care? Because sooner or later it's going to affect how much we can spend. Not to mention it's getting boring seeing us mugged off constantly with transfers (in and out).

United apparently did try to discuss about a new contract and he postponed every time.

The club should hold out over the fee like other clubs do to us. If his contract runs out and we get nothing then so be it.

With Euros coming next year DDG will have to keep up his motivation anyway (although I believe even without the Euros he is professional enough to keep it up). We are not desperate for 18 mil £ or similar from RM. Actually we are in a good position despite not being in a good position (because DDG has only 1 year left).

So RM, give us at least 30 mil £ or we'll just keep him, no prob, will focus on other areas meanwhile, will give Valdes more playing time next season and by the end of the next season we can evaluate if we keep Valdes and make him No 1 or if we by a No 1.

I hope Woody thinks the same way!

never feel calmer about this situation, either Real has to cough up money or we can play him next season, gain enough by a top 2 finish and reach far into a cup competition. Probably the best option package there. The thing about Real having to pay heavily is not because we need money, it's because United should demand respect from other clubs and they cannot just take us for granted

I agree - although the problem with this situation is that we may possibly have a GK who is not 100% committed next season.

I hope he doesn't, Madrid signing him for free is the worst possible scenario for me, we should make them pay our initial investment at the very least.

Not whilst there's still a leading hole-punch manufacturer in Honduras to exploit....

Ansolutely no positive I can see here, we are not PSV who need the money, they should either give us our valuation of him or we'll just profit of having a world class keeper for one more year while they can continue enjoying Casillas.

Can Madrid wait a year to sign a new keeper after they've effectively put Casillas out to pasture?

Yes, they can and they will. And even if they don't, I don't want to see a disloyal player in our team, De Gea negotiated with Madrid while making the club believe that he would sign an extension, it's rare to see a player act as twatishly.

I understand the 'he is important for our team', 'he worth more money than that', 'we should send a message' but the truth is that in every scenarios we are losing and I prefer to lose with more millions in our pockets and without having to support De Gea.

Keep him here if RM doesn't agree to pay the right price,we still got good one year left in his contract,on positive side anything can happen on those period.

Based on what exactly? All anyone from the club has said all season is that he's unsure of what he wants to do.

I'm not keeping tabs on DDG's potential transfer, but do we know for a fact that he was negotiating with Real whilst leading the club to believe he'll sign a contract?

I'll admit, I'm badly speculating, If I'm wrong I'll admit it and apologize.

Again based on what?

Considering how excellent he's been in goal, I doubt he's had to do any courting of any sort.

Honestly, he has an offer on the table from United and hesitates, I have no doubt that it's because he has an other offer to consider.

Let him talk to Madrid in the background. That is where he wants to play, that is where he wants to be.

He has given no indication that he is unhappy here, he has done nothing to force our hand or weaken our negotiating position. If he does come back next season he will give his all, yes he will walk for free but that will be something we allowed to happen, something we decided was better for us than the alternatives.

Be pretty funny if we allowed his contract to run down and he signed for Barcelona on a free, I think this is now what I want to happen.

Well, if he wants to move back to Spain he would hesitate, and if Madrid have had a word with Mendes, or if he'd read a paper, he'd no that that was a move on the cards. Doesn't mean that he's been going off having secret meetings with Madrid or anything though.

Didnt someone say someone connected to him was spotted with the Valencia president?

If they came up with a bid of £25m and we sold him to them, that would probably be my preferred (though totally unrealistic) outcome.

He's probably too good for Valencia, he should really be playing for the best club side in the world which is Barcelona. :) Wonder would they tempt him as an Atleti kid...

The fact he waited till the last year and put his house up for sale? Apparently agreed a wage and in the next week or two will come out and say he wants to move back home?

Can you let me meltdown in peace, please.:)

In most such cases players actually sign contracts and then leave the very next year , I think the big reason DDG hasn't done it is that he knows that United will ask for huge money if he signs a contract and he just isn't sure that Madrid would be ready to pay that much for a keeper. In this case I think that as good as De Gea is he is still only a keeper and he is probably more desperate than them to see this deal go through. In the end United are doing the right thing ,but I still think we will sell him for a decent fee and it is highly unlikely that we will let him run out his contract.

Not his house, he rents it.

Also, I imagine he may well have agreed a wage now - it's summer afterall, but that doesn't mean he was talking to them during the season or anything.

So, apparently MUFC are looking for a World Class fee for DDG...or else he stays and leaves on a free next Summer.

Personally, if we received a £50M bid, I would reject it.
In a few weeks, Madrid may buy another GK, in which case, DDG may sign a lucrative contract with us to stay or 5 years.

We have an experienced top GK, who works well at Man Utd (not easy to replace for any amount of money) and I'd rather he stay under any circumstance.

One thing which we have to remember is that we are trying to win trophies...we are not trying to fill our coffers. We dont need any money from Madrid, so why sell our best player? It makes no logical sense.

Could be tough, with him being the loyal Atletico homegrown etc....

That would be utterly retarded. Madrid won't buy another keeper and he won't sign an extension here. Rejecting £50m would be even more stupid than accepting £15m.

So we've asked for £35m for DDG and Real being dirty cnuts have responded by asking for £90m for Ramos.

Yep. I admire your bullishness @sunama but if a bid came in for anything north of about £30m we'd be mugs not to accept. I would be content with £25m.

I am pretty certain that is exactly what will happen, we are just trying to get a good price which is the right thing to do but think there is a one in a million chance that we will actually keep him for another year.

Why would RM agree to pay anything even remotely close to £50m when they can have him for nothing next year.
