Manchester United vs Club America (Pre-season friendly)| No posting streams in thread or on profiles

New signings obviously putting in more effort and looking to impress.

Darmian looks solid and very athletic. Depay looks better than I thought. Not playing his preferred position but clear to see the pace and talent he possesses. He will be a special player for us if we bring him along correctly.

Schneiderlin is a rock in midfield and instantly makes us look more physically imposing as a team.

Carrick and Rooney still feeling their way back in as expected. Neither have impressed and understandably Carrick hasn't played football in months. Young and Shaw not on the same wavelength but I do like the pace and fitness Shaw is showing. The left back is his position to cement down really.

Blind was wank at CB, hopefully that'll be the end of that. Carrick unusually looking off too.

But it is pre-season.

Morgan the most impressive in that half.

Darmian, Shaw, Johnstone, Mata looking very good.

Rooney and Young were meh, our CBs played like you'd expect that kind of pairing to play. Carrick looked bad, and the formation didn't help, Memphis looked good but needs to improve his decision making.

We need to play with 3 midfielders.

Don't they share the pitch with The Sounders NFL too? That and all the rain might have something to do with it

The Seahawks, you mean? Yeah, they both share the pitch. Still, what I meant is that the pitch should be in optimal condition since it's the middle of the MLS season in North America and the Seahawks won't play until a couple of months.

so then.....am i the only one that thought we'd already sent Sam Johnstone out on loan?

Anyway when the second half players were warming up, Lindegaard was there so it looks like he will start the second half.

Morgan is class I like what I see from our italian as well. I get the feeling that depay will be great and frustrating like Nani hopefully more great. Still that defence needs sorting but so glad there back

The entire team is getting replaced for the 2nd half.

Ok so I woke up late and missed the first 15 minutes but caught the last 30. My take on the game so far is that we have bought in three gems. I actually think Memphis has been the most poor out of the three. Schneiderlin has been out there patrolling the midfield and he'll prove to be a bargain. And Darmian, how refreshing is it to having a proper full back, defensively and offensively again? These two are going to be real bargains, I'm absolutely sure of it. Memphis has looked good at times but has poor decision making and has had little help from his captain up front who is either way too slow or caught flat on his heels. Other than that Johnstone has been a beast in goal and Shaw has been good as well, bar the stupid fouls. Our defence has looked a little shady but besides that, we have looked pretty comfortable.

Carrick and Blind both looked pretty wank. Apart from that solid performance from everyone involved. Our signings all look good. Memphis isn't a striker or number 10 though.

Crap first half of football. The formation probably doesn't help much, neither does Blind at CB. First 45 of the season though, so was to be expected.

Don't forget the pitch. That's the main factor behind the under-par showing from both sides. Encouraging signs still.

Schneiderlin looks to have an engine from the same garage as Ji Sung! Most of them looked knackered after 25 minutes out there but he seemed to get more energy as the half went on.

What? seriously....what?

Other than Blind and Shaw being shaky, pretty solid performance so far. They've been pressing pretty well to be fair to them if not doing anything else.

Darmian has not done a single thing wrong. Excellent by him.

No wonder Juve were so pissed off that we signed him. I'd only seen him play in the World Cup last year, I though he was excellent against England. He really looks like a decent player. I can't wait to hear what Neville thinks about him  Schneiderlin has just been sublime. All very good signs so far. Can't wait to see Pereira in the second half, and of course Bastien too.

Memphis promising, lots of lovely flicks to Rooney, Schneiderlin got a goal and won possession a few times. Carrick and Shaw were both miles off the pace. Blind very lucky not to concede a penalty. Mata and Young ok. Johnstone seemed to do reasonably well; perhaps took too long on the ball on occasion. Rooney one shot from distance just wide but overall not that good.

I hope that some people will finally get that there are other midfielders than Carrick, and actually better than him :-)

great half by Morgan, also very good goalkeeping by big Sam, disappointing from Depay although he played out of position, Darmian looked OK defensively..

anyway hard to judge players after a game when the other team is in different stage of preparation it's just a run out and weird formation from LVG. If we want 4-4-2 we really need someone more mobile than Carrick

I'd say the three new signings probably looked the best 3 players.

Average height and size/athleticism of the squad has gone way the feck up. That's without Smalling and Bastian in the team too.

We could potentially field a pretty tall team as compared to the last couple years. Hopefully that translates to more set piece goals and better defending on corners.

i don't think i've seen him misplace a single pass, he was recycling possession and moving us forward. Am i watching a different game? :nervous:
Lost the ball in possession three times within the first twenty minutes. Sloppy.

Rooney was the worst player on the pitch in the first half. He always needs more time to get his fitness back. fecking fatty!

Been good so far, Scheiderlin looks like he's been in United's midfield since forever. The right back looks solid.
