It depends if we get through or not...

If we play him, and get knocked out, he can play for Madrid in the group stages, however if we play him, and get through, then he goes to Madrid, he can't...

He won't rot on the bench, anywhere. A person who has any managerial experience at all knows that you don't prevent your best workers from working.
LVG isn't a fool, to put the best GK in the World, on the bench, while he uses lesser players in this team.
He has stated many times, he will use the players who are performing the best on the pitch (real matches & training games).
At present DDG's mental state is affecting his performance (in training), which is why LVG has benched him until the transfer wrangles are sorted out.

Now, the very real issue is that while Romero continues getting clean sheets, he will continue to play, even if DDG is available, fit and healthy.
What happens if he gets another clean sheet today, and in our next game? It will be very difficult to drop him and this will be the time for DDG to start to worry.

No. He's not cup tied if he plays in the CL playoffs, irrespective of whether we qualify or not.

Nah, I can't see van Gaal budging here and rightfully so.
 
I didn't even think about that possibility (offering DDG a huge signing bonus) until I read about it just now. Business is business. I know what I'd do as a pro footballer earning a living. It's win-win for DDG.
 
"I know I'm going to Madrid next season so I'm going to make this season the best I can. Win as many trophies as I can and leave on top."

At least that's what I hope DDG is thinking...

I don't think Van Gaal would play him ahead of Romero until the transfer window is closed.

"Interestingly enough, in 2014 when Manchester United presented a renewal offer to De Gea that he would have accepted, Van Gaal stopped it because he wasn't convinced by him as a goalkeeper.

By Balague. If that's true we've only got ourselves to blame, or more to the point LvG. I'm quite the critic but even if struggle to believe it, surely not.
 
If LVG did put DDG's contract offer on hold then to be fair to him De Gea had the season of his life last year, he was definitely a level up on his previous seasons and highlighted how good he is.

It would be a huge gamble on our part, in my opinion. Navas is the sort of player who could turn out a grand flop for us.

We will only accept that offer if van Gaal truly wants Navas, so if we accept that I'd be ok with it. It's also entirely possible we just reject an offer like that because we want a different replacement.

Its rubbish. Madrid media were saying it a few days ago as happening in Spring 2014, when van Gaal wasn't even at the club.

Ugh. Another young Spanish player? Excuse me but I'll pass.

His stats say it all. For the U18s: nine goals in 10 games; U19s in the UEFA Youth League: five goals in six appearances; U21s and Reserves: eight goals in 12 matches; and his one first team outing yielded two goals. A total of 24 goals in 29 games is an impressive tally, proving he can consistently find the net in whichever competition he plays in.

We want 40 mil euros, id rate Navas at only 5 mil..considering the following:
1.Madrid only bought him last year for 10 mil.
2.Since then he has failed to displace a declining Casillas , and when he has played he has made a couple of mistakes
3. They are actively trying to sell him

So 35 mil and above should be what we are getting..He is not that great as ball playing keeper either, which doesnt fit the philosophy
 
TBH at this moment in time I'd be happy to take Jese Rodriguez, young, gifted and can play on the right wing.
 
The way Van Gaal was defending Woodward on Friday I think the club is going to be even more keen to not look like pushovers and these other clubs are getting one up on us. I think we'll be even more adamant about keeping him unless we get a huge world record offer for a keeper.
 
It'll be farcical if he leaves this window. The prices of top players from other clubs will likely go up in the last week of the window so if we buckle and sell him on the cheap then we'll just be a laughing stock. If he was going to leave then it should have already happened with an adequate replacement brought in.
 
He will improve us alot when he comes back into the team, Romero just worries me.

Glad he's staying, Real Madrid will just have to do without their galactico this season....ah bless.
 
I still feel it's very unlikely he'll still be here come September 2nd

If you want to bless anybody it's MUFC, who have resisted as much as they can, but will probably buckle.

Here's a summary of DDG saga so far:

1. DDG doesn't sign a new contract because he wants to see if we will get into the CL.
2. We enter the CL. DDG still doesn't sign.
3. We realise that DDG has no interest in MUFC - he wants to sign for Madrid.
4. MUFC are prepared to sell, but demand a Galactico in return. They opt for Ramos.
5. Ramos is looking to renew his contract, so says that he has offers from elsewhere, if a good contract is not offered.
6. Ramos does not want to join MUFC and re-signs with Madrid.
7. MUFC then say we want a world record fee for a GK, for DDG.
8. Madrid say, "no", but still need a Galactico and are confident of landing DDG.
9. Price is the only issue here and given our history of selling our players for bargain basement prices (Ronaldo, excepted) and less than 12 months remaining on DDG contract, Madrid don't see the need to pay big money.
10. There are 5 days to go, for a deal to be struck.

Earlier in this thread somebody stated that 2 things will happen this window.
1. Ramos will be a Madrid player.
2. DDG will be a Madrid player.

Lets see what happens.
