I know a few City fans like that, I avoid talking about football with them, just ends up in an argument.

) but are now dyed in the wool Blues who somehow think they are sages of the game. Disagree with them and it very quickly turns nasty and personal. Although 1) their group this year is middling this year and 2) our luck tends to balance out with a succession of horror-draws in the early knockout rounds.
But it's all academic when they continue to get beaten by the easiest opponents in their group every year. We've been given PSV and CSKA? Well, City have been seen off by both Ajax and CSKA in recent years so there's little guarantee a group like ours would do them any good.

They always bring that up. Maybe they should bring up the fact United holds the attendance record at Maine Road but somehow I think they don't like to mention that.

We hold the record league attendance there. The only reason they hold it is because they all went to watch Stanley Matthews in the FA Cup.
It's actually not true about united having the record there. , United's largest home crowd was at Maine Rd, 83,260 but City got 84,559 in a cup game there.
It's the largest league attendance record, I believe.
All time record attendance was the Semi final with City involved.

Why would they mention something that isn't true? At any rate, I can't see why it would bother anyone, United shared the stadium for some time as everyone knows and back then, generally, following football teams was not as tribal as it is today. My grandad, for example, would go to watch United and City depending on whoever was at home and said it was fairly common practice, people just wanted to watch football.
Yeah, same with my dad and granddad in Munich. Both went together to Bayern and 1860 games every week. You had less people traveling to away games and many football fans supporting the local clubs, so that they could go every weekend instead of every 2nd weekend. I doubt you'll find anyone doing the same today.
They're bellends aren't they. United actually owe their existence to a St Bernard called Major! They love to tell us how they helped us out, and these same fans laugh at Munich whilst not realising one of theirs was on the plane.

I didn't say it bothers me. I just replied to Bluemoon loons saying we owe our own very existence to City. If nothing it's nice United and City had such close relationship and fans didn't feel so bitter towards each other.
That's true but that's not what you originally said. The record attendance for a game at Maine Road did not involve United.
It would have been nice to experience football like that, although that's not to say the modern game is without its benefits.
Is anyone really bothered about City though? They're still a joke of a club. Liverpool are our main rivals without doubt. I'm really meh about City, don't care if they win, don't care if they lose. We have more rivalry with Leeds. One thing I do find funny though is that they have become exactly what they hated for years about United.

If you grew up in the 70s, you were either a Red or a Blue & never the twain shall meet. I used to hate them with a horrible hate and it was hilarious when they were languishing in the lower leagues. I now just find them completely detestable. Football was invented before 1992 btw
Thanks for the patronising factoid about footy pre-92. I grew up in Manchester in the 70s and 80s,,near platt fields! Most of my friends were blues and we went to watch them both at home. I was dragged along to Maine Road once, what a dump and it was still empty then, as it is now. We sat in this stand (?) and there was hardly anyone around us. They actually won too, so we beat up our City supporting mate each time they scored
Not main rivals, I compared them to the flies that bother lions. Still do haha. Going to the matches against Liverpool, Leeds there seemed to be more venom. But to be honest , there does seem to be more venom coming from City recently.
