Pep Guardiola at City next?

Well... yes... :cool::cool:

This week is getting better, better and better for United fans. That said, we've seen many stories saying Pep Guardiola to City is going to happen so we'll all have to wait and see.

If push comes to shove I've no doubt Pep would choose us over City. We just have to hope we make our interest clear and aren't serious about handing the keys to Giggs. Pep at City would hurt a shit ton more than Klopp at Liverpool that's for sure.

Sources were mostly BEIN. Here the source seems to be an author that usually does not like Guardiola because of his Laporte connections. And he should have connections to Guardiola's inner circle...???

That City might wish to sign Guardiola - I do not doubt that. But they wanted that 3 years ago and Pep did not have any problems signing with Bayern.

If we take Giggs and City and Liverpool get Guardiola and Klopp I feel we'll be in for some of our most painful years in modern history.

Why would we take Giggs?

If Van Gaal is a success then there's a chance we will take Giggs with good reason.

The Glazers and Woodward aren't stupid to repeat the same mistake again. If Van Gaal fails and we don't qualify for Europe or look close to challenging for the league. They hardly going to appoint Giggs.

To me I read that as Bayern wanting Klopp to take the Liverpool job for this season and then be ready for when Pep leaves to step in.

Eh? It says Bayern want klopp to hold off till end of season and take over at Bayern. @Balu

Klopp - Liverpool
Pep - City
Ancelotti - Arsenal (replacing Wenger)
Ryan Giggs and Philip Neville - Manchester united

It seems that there are pressure from the football directors to bring back the United 'way' (nepotism and all)

Pep's always made a big deal about working for 'real clubs' with history and gravitas. While City have got the infrastructure in place, they lack those factors.

I still think he will renew with Bayern

All the sweeter when we actually win the League again if it's the case. Personally would rather see him there than at United. Don't think he will go to us unless we have a team ready to compete as one of Europe's 4 best teams.

I think if we have a decent team and money for him to spend, he can make us one of Europe's 4 best teams.

I hope we're not fannying around not speaking to anyone about the future like before Fergie left.

There won't be anyone left by the time LVG leaves.

This forum might just become unbearable if this come to fruition. I can already see legions of Klopp and Guardiola fanatics running around with their longwinded tactical essays on how absolutely revolutionary and awesome the two of them (!!!) are while simultaneously raining down abuse on Ryan Giggs, Sir Alex, Class of 92 and just about everyone connected with United. Good god. Please make this happen!

That would be stupid. He could just wait for a year.
If he's going there, he will stay for the long term. 5 years maybe or something.
All the Klopp to Bayern links seem to have been fuelled by the media, but I really never believed them.
He had a lot of clashes with our board and there were always doubts he would fit to a club like us.

I've just read on a german side that according to italian and spanish medias Guardiola to City and Ancelotti to Bayern (2 year contract) is probably a done deal already. :(

Maybe that's why Ancelotti was not available for the scousers.

Doesn't make sense for City to be replacing Pelligrini just after they gave him £150m to spend. Also if City win the league, no chance he will be sacked.

Also, didn't Ancelotti just say he wants to return to the premier league?

Of course, they'll sack him unless City win the CL. Even this won't guarantee his job if Pep is available.

Well Sterling and De Bruyne are players which every manager can use. Guardiola would probably have loved De Bruyne for Bayern as well. And there were also reports that Bayern was interested in Sterling for a long time this summer.

And according to Ancelotti himself (if the quotes are to believed) he wants to go to the PL. I guess we just have to wait and see and hope for the best. I want Pep to stay.

Hopefully not true. Guardiola would make them great.

No, he's overrated rubbish. Unless he joins us, in which case he's underrated amazinosityness.

It's amazing how much people panic when they read one thing that's contrary to what they want.

Sport1 are merely citing and compiling reports from Mundo deportivo, Sports Mediaset, and tuttomercatoweb.
All three are, as far as I can see, not exactly trustworthy outlets and I doubt their reports are more than speculation.

Just come back home. Problem solved.

I guess if he ever comes back he will come back not as a coach but in another function like e.g. as president.

Mundo Deportive and the author of the article aren't known to be friends of Guardiola because of the Laporte connections. You can doubt if they have any informations out of the inner circle around Guardiola...

Pellegrini wasn't given £150m to spend. City have a DoF, a certain Txiki Begiristain who both played with Pep and promoted him at Barca. I believe they are very good friends and speak at least once a week (so rumour has it)

My guess is that if the Pep to City rumours are true then Pellegrini knows all about it. He will be well looked after that's for sure.

Giggs wants the manager's position but it would make sense if he would go to a lower table team after Van Gaal is done here and put his experience into practice for 2 or 3 seasons. Signing Gaurdiola to a 3 year contract until then is a no-brainer if that was feasible even if the club wants Giggs here long term.

I wish people would stop putting Giggs name into the equation, even though it looks an inevitability just the thought makes me feel dreadful.
