Post match vs Bournemouth

I've not voted as none of them deserve a MOTM. Truly appalling. All the chances, bar one fell to Fellaini, of all people. Then we started "lump ball" for the last 10 mins, with the big man off. LVG: clueless. Kids did well first half but were shell shocked second. Bad times..l..

Our players look bereft of confidence out there. The defence look like they always panic whenever teams deliver set pieces into our box. On the ball, we struggle to compose ourselves in our game, and it's as if, when the going gets tough, we don't get going. This team just looks mentally broken at the moment, almost like Arsenal were back when they had lots of young players.

I will also say that fans really wanted us to play a 4-3-3 with a backwards point. Well, here you go. Two matches with a 4-3-3, and we lost both of them, creating several chances, but looking nervous at the back especially during set pieces (more down to the young players we play + injuries, but neither of our central midfielders offer enough defensive support to Carrick). Going forward, we are trying to play attacking football, but the lack of confidence in the attacking players is showing with bad shots from Martial and an overall lack of composure up front.

We desperately need a leader in our team to get us to be mentally strong, but we don't have that, not since Rooney became captain of the club.

What the feck can you do when you have injured/suspended/just back from injury and not fit:

#10 Rooney/Herrera

Wing Lingard

Midfield Schweinsteiger/Schneiderlin

Defense Smalling/Shaw/Darmian/Valencia/Jones

How do you plan for that? The average age at the start of the game was 24 and went down when Perriera and Powell were brought in. Still shit but feck me these injuries are awful.
You use the squad. There is a reason teams have more than 18 players.
Bournemouth have plenty of injuries of their own.. and dont have the resources to have a big squad.
Their performance levels havent dropped that much

We need champions league to get Ancelotti of Guardiola. We are proper fecked.

Once they got the second goal you knew it was game over.

Gonna lose 4th place this week too, injury crisis, shambles, LVG out surely? Looks like he has lost the dressing room..

The team that was winning played with urgency and had more chances to score than the team that was losing.

Nevermind looking inept going forward, we actually looked like we couldnt be arsed.

Horrible performance, team look so toothless can keep the ball when we need to score.
I think LVG has taken us as far as he can, time for change now.

Its going to be another battle for top 4. Especially in this wide open league.

We shouldn't even dream of chasing title.

As usual, we are hit with an injury crises and very ill prepared to deal with it. We have almost no depth in our team. LVG sold everyone and never replaced them. This is really down to him.

Never seen us play so poorly in a second half than today. What a different Manchester United this is. We actually got dominated by Bournemouth in the second half...and here I thought the first half was encouraging. Our players just look gassed and couldn't even get out of our own half the last 10 minutes despite chasing the game!

There is something wrong with our training and coaching. We are a paper thin squad and now for the second year running have been hit with multiple injuries. This is no coincidence.

Changes must be made now. Pep Guardiola this summer. We need someone for the longterm. LVG is not the answer.

The way we began the second half sitting off fecking Bournemouth, letting their central defender a shot at goal from 10 yards out was a disgrace imo and a result of either a decision not to press or a result of failure to plan to press. That imo is on the manager.

It's not his philosophy to quit. I am so looking forward to his post match press conference. I just want to hear the excuses.
His excuses will be injuries, most likely, and how we created sooooo many chances to win the game.

He's a delusional, egotistical bastard.

We wait the entire day to see United play that way absolutely clueless, no fight. Just maybe the kit was to blame - all white - United surrendered from the start to the end. We will not win the league or anything, at this rate we will be lucky to be 10th in the league. No positives at all today

Well, we had a lot of injuries. So did AFCB.
On the day, it was the players who wanted to win more, who won.
AFCB didn't have particularly gifted players. Their finishing was pretty bad and they did look like a Championship side. But they definitely wanted to win.

Maybe, we have now reached the stage where we need to park the bus and hope we get a lucky winning goal against EPL teams.

So, what now for LVG?
Given our injury crisis, I can only see our performances get worse, I'm afraid.

Well done Bournemouth, a bit lucky with the first goal but deserved the victory.

I try to see the positives even when we lose, but I can't defend today's performance especially on the back of the Champions League exit. My patience for Van Gaal is wearing thin and I understand why some want him out, and honestly I don't know how long I can stay in support of him.

I enjoyed the game and we played some good stuff, we've been unlucky. We're depleted in defence and have an issue currently with set pieces. But taking off Fellaini was the wrong move, Powell did nothing.

Unlucky? Mate, we were thoroughly outclassed!

Exciting to see so many young players on the pitch. Did we finish the match with carrick, blind and mata the only senior players?

Frustrating that we had to go in with such an inexperienced defence for the 3rd season running. Varela looks to have something about him but we will keep getting murdered as long as we have 0 senior defenders in the 11

Bournemouth are shite. Yet they should have scored more.

Says it all.

I'm not even surprised anymore to be honest.

I mean 8 injuries and a suspension is all well and good, but when we've spent £300million I think a reasonable assumption would be that we have strength in depth.

We didn't even look threatening today, in fact we did our very best to make it easy for Bournemouth and if Glenn Murrey had decided to put his boots on the right feet it could have been 4-1.

Worryingly, Fellaini was poor...but our best player....and van gaal took him off and switched to a 4-3-3 and we looked threatening for exactly 36 seconds before Bournemouth took control again.

It was piss poor from us to be honest both with and without the ball.

The worst substitution we have seen since he took the job. Fellaini was causing all the problems for them. He got us back in to the game. He looked the most likely to do it again. He's a polarizing player, but he is the most dangerous presence we had out there today, it's not even up for debate. And for Powell. fecking Powell. Why not Young at least? Why not even Schneiderlin so we could gain some control of the game? If anyone should have come off, it's Mata anyway.

I bet Bournemouth defenders let out a sigh of relief when Fellaini went off. Their fans cheered when he went off. Even they knew he was the most likely to do something.

It says a lot about where we are that I'm lambasting Fellaini going off, but he needed to stay on and keep doing what he was doing.

Absolute madness.

3 wins in last 12 matches? Van Gaal could rely on results for a period of time but lately the results are showing that he has to change something.

AFCB had 11 player injured. They had their top scorer injured, too. I think AFCB felt the injury crisis more than us.

I've only watched the second half, but that's the worst I've ever seen United play. At least that I can remember.

2-1 was a flattering scoreline. Atrocious performance. I'm not one to bash LVG but his tactics after we drew level and in the second half were ridiculous.

Defensively we were all over the place. As expected really. King had a field day against Blind and Mcnair,Borthwick-Jackson runs like he needs a shit, and Varela just looked all over the place.

I didn't vote either. No one deserves to be MOTM.

Bournemouth were fun to watch and defended admirably but that was embarrassing when it's all said and done.

Entertaining for the first 70 minutes or so with the end to end action but after that it becomes clear something is very wrong at the club. Both in how we can't score chances, create more of them and why we are relying on so many kids. This is Manchester United, we have faith in youth but we don't run a daycare centre.

Big difference in the second half was a complete disappearance by Carrick (I assume Bournemouth realised if they pressed him he couldn't do much).

Feel sorry for some of the young lads. It's great experience for them but it's bound to be hard to handle all that pressure.

Bad day and Van Gaal is under major pressure now.

like i think we plan for that by just signing more players. these crises seem impossible every year, so we just need to over compensate

Our players don't look like they care. This is the mangers first job, to inspire the lads to give everything when they are on the pitch. We honestly don't look bothered. Does anyone here really think LVG should stay on for 18 more months?
Exactly. The youngsters should look at this as an opportunity to stake a claim. But they look as passionless as the seniors and the fkng manager on the sideline.

I'm of the view that LVG cannot take this team any further. He should resign, United won't sack him that's not the way we operate - but we need to accept that a change is needed
