Post match vs Bournemouth

They're the exact opposite to us. They've had very good performances but not got results. They're now getting results and will climb the table. If you follow PL football then you should know all of this. It's not exactly a well kept secret.
Ok Michael Owen.

General thoughts,

McNair was dreadful, but at least he was involved - Mata should be disgusted with himself after that performance. I certainly am.

Fellaini had one of his better games for us and credit to him for working hard and playing like he cared. The decision to take him off was appalling.

Borthwick-Jackson looks like he might be another McNair/Blackett (ie a bit average) but it's still early days.

Carrick had a fairly decent game, the only real leader on the pitch.

Martial had some moments of brilliance as usual and Memphis had a good first half, but seemed to tire in the second.

Pereira didn't offer much but difficult scenario for him to come into.

Injuries really screwed us over... I don't think they would have got so many chances with Smalling, Jones and Darmian at the back.

Really getting sick of the lack of touchline action from the management team though.
They would with their first team attack playing. Injuries are no excuse here.

Agreed. That was what really killed me today. The youngsters did not look up for the fight whatsoever.
I don't agree really. Thought some showed good passion. Pereira, as poor as his touch looked tonight, looks passionate. Varela too.

Depay winds me up a bit, doesn't seem to care much, hard not to be frustrated by him

When the transfer window closed many people pointed out how thin the squad was so in my eyes injuries isn't a valid excuse, especially when you have all the money in the world. We spent the summer going after Ramos but since we couldn't get him we didn't feel getting another CB should be on the agenda? And we're relying on Carrick or Schweinsteiger to stay fit most of the time in the middle and we have zero depth up front. They're problems everyone could see coming.

What a shambles. Looking at his face, I can image Wooward's bubble has burst. If this is the beginning of a losing streak and LVG displays his press antics as he did at Bayern, this could turn into a major club catastrophe.

No Smalling means no defence.

No Scweinsteiger and Herrera means no midfield.

The front three of lingard, depay and Martial are Too raw and hence too unreliable.

We're screwed. The argument for LVG thinning the squad too much is strong and is a sackable offence.

The injury crisis has destroyed us. We were thin to begin with but with the injuries we're utterly fecked.

The Philosophy isn't working. Teams have figured out how to press us and cut off most of our play and the worst part is that our players don't have anymore confidence.

This is a nightmare scenario for LVG. A nightmare for us fans. A nightmare for the club.

Lord knows who'll recover by when. It's a bad moment.
Agree with the first part, I don't think teams have figures out the philosophy though, whatever that means. They have probably figured out that we are vulnerable when nursing 10 injuries

A turning point today.

Moyesian. Shambolic. Amateur.

I've been preaching patience but that performance was bewildering.

We looked completely lost out there. A facsimile of a team.

I get it you think they are good I don't. I expect us to win these games. They are a poor side that will hover around the bottom and do well to stay up. They try to play football but they aren't very good. It's a shit show if we can't beat sides like that and they should have scored more.

That poor side have played Everton, Chelsea and us in their last 3 games and got 7 points. They've also only scored 1 fewer goals than us in the PL.

Fact is that no matter what club you are, you will struggle to win any away game this year. It's just the nature of the PL at the moment.

All those double training sessions and 11vs11 have yielded no improvement. There is no synergy in the system. No synchronization between the players. What does go on in practices?

Our youngster are abit lost, can't blame them tbh, they tried hard, the occasion got to them, Blind / Carrick / Mata and the other senior players aren't helping them much. This one on the senior player, shame on them. Those kids shows more passion than the whole first team squad combined
I am not absolving the senior players of anything. The youngsters may not have been able to pull a rabbit out of the bag but the lack of fight towards the end from the likes of Depay, Martial, McNair was embarrassing.

I never once felt this embarrassed during Moyes reign. Time is up, he has to go.

Seriously? Not even when we had a match plan that said nothing but "cross it"? Not even when we gave Newcastle their first OT win since 72, West Brom their first since 78 and Stoke their first league win against us since 84, all in one season? Not even when both Liverpool and City did the double over us, including comfortable 0-3 wins against us at Old Trafford, where we never looked like getting a point?

I am HATING this, myself. I am NOT filled with confidence... but Moyes took over a squad brimming with confidence, league winners and players with solid PL and CL pedigree. What Van Gaal is faced with is a different prospect. It looks more rigid and boring, and our recent run is embarassing, but to say that Moyes' United was preferable is absolutely ridiculous. For the life of me I don't get how people can claim that.

any thoughts on varela?

i think periera is a bit of a hider, did so for reserves a lot, seemed to be behind him but at this level just doesn't look that involved.

agree elsewhere, memphis fading out of games is becoming very regular thing... find it hard to believe it could be physical, maybe more mental

Another disappointing game. I know every loss is Van Gaal's fault, although I struggle to see how he lost us the game. We attacked plenty, we were ultimately not good enough at either end.

But we all know moyes is shit. He delivered what he showed before, midtable results

Lvf was supposedly world class manager with balls of steels. We've been duped

Cheers:
  • We actually had enough players to field a whole team
  • The all-white kits look good
  • Had some terrific polish sausage
Jeers:
  • Couldn't tell which team was chasing a goal in the final minutes
  • We should be gaining points at the top right now, but scoring goals seems to be a lost art amongst us
  • Memphis' sideburns

Ok Michael Owen.

Feck off Tina. They're converting good performances into points now. Which they struggled to do early on. They look confident and will cause every club problems especially at home. They turned a corner a few weeks back which is why I predicted us to lose. Obvious result was obvious.

We are so bad I just laugh now. Even the ones who were performing at the start of the season have gone to shit now. We look like a fecking train wreck.

De Gea: Don't look at me. I am also allowed to make mistakes.
Varela: Never said defending or positioning was my strong suite. I thought I was going to be sold last summer.
McNair: Your RB for the next 10 years. LOL.
Blind: Not my fault. Mike wasn't there to do my defending.
CBJ: Dude, where's my car!
Carrick: It has been 10 years. Can I get a consistent midfield partner. Please!
Fellaini: I am better than my usual shit and still get subbed? What is going on here?
Lingard: I try..
Mata: I am quarter the player some people think I am.
Depay: I am sexy and I know it..
Martial: I am 20, not going to be your savior every game. Get real.

Subs:

Pereira: Don't look at me. I was better than most of them.
Powell: Did I win the fecking lottery?
Jones: I survived 5 mins without getting injured. Hell Yeah!

Van Gaal: Be grateful we didn't lose by 5 goals. It's a process. This ain't 2006..

My original comment was a bit over the tot but after reading all that I'm even more embarrassed simply for the fact this is Bouremouth, an average side who run around a lot. We were of course a shambles under Moyes and defeats at home to Newcastle/WBA were disappointing and though the defeats vs City/Liverpool hurt, they were the best two teams in the league that year. This time round, with a shit load more money spent we are horrendous under a bloke who apparently knows what he is doing.

It was always strange to me, how the fans of the worst playing team in the top 6 talked about how they were a lock for a top 3 finish. Guess that´s what being a FANatic does to you. Nobody in their right mind can watch this team and not think the level of play is below that of Leicester, City, Arsenal, Tottenham and Liverpool over the last two months. Maybe they´ll still finish top 4, but to act like it´s a lock for the team objectively playing the worst ball is just wrong.

What the feck can you do when you have injured/suspended/just back from injury and not fit:

#10 Rooney/Herrera

Wing Lingard

Midfield Schweinsteiger/Schneiderlin

Defense Smalling/Shaw/Darmian/Valencia/Jones

How do you plan for that? The average age at the start of the game was 24 and went down when Perriera and Powell were brought in. Still shit but feck me these injuries are awful.

You plan for it by not selling half the squad, or if you do, by replacing them adequately.

What's also infuriating about LvG is his inability to motivate players by sitting on his arse so nonchalantly the whole game.

And his substitutions are so bizarre. Just because random substitutions have worked out in the past doesn't mean they're likely to work in the future.

He really needs to go at the end of the season... or earlier if it seems that Top 4 is a risk.

Philosophy.

I know I know, I was kidding.

LvG did just say "If you score the winning goal you shall win".

The really depressing part for me is that even if we'd had everyone available I don't think the result would have been any different.

They have injuries what's their excuse?

The attacking play of this side is a total joke.

Well done on the culling and not replacing of the squad. Half the team weren't PL standard today.

Mata is a myth. Honestly the guy is a highlights reel player. He does feck all for the majority of most games.

Get off your arses and try to motivate and help your players out FFS! They looked shell shocked. The dressing room mood looks grim, which isn't going to help the young players one bit.

That comment by LvG about "the commitment of players being the most important thing" might explain why Young has been left out in the cold
