Ridiculous we can't start every game with that kind of intensity and intent. Played well but, it was against the 16th place team :)

Told my son right at kickoff, we are probably going to get screwed by Atkinson - every game in memory between us and Chelsea ahs resulted in him doing anything he could to help Chelsea. Annoyed we didn't get at least one of the penalties that we should have got but, was not surprised in the least.

Hope LVG and especially the players build on top of that but, I don't have much faith in that happening sadly.

Good first half. Second half our coached-instincts to be conservative took over. I don't understand why we feel we need to play keep away in our half of the field instead of moving forward more often. I felt Schneiderlein was very guilty of this the second half as his passes didn't make too much sense far too often.

Was Bind hurt? Why not have Carrick come in for Schweini?
Herrera and Martial looked good.
Rooney good for some spells.
Darmian and Young played their part except for some poor crosses.
Memphis needs to sit out a few matches.
Mata good 1st half.

This was a missed opportunity because Chelsea were there for the taking.

It was a lot better performance with loads more passion but can we keep it up and why couldn't we do this before, if we had played like that in the last 5 games we'd probably be top, also chelski were shite, I still think lvg needs to go by the way.

Whoever says that LvG has lost the dressing room is talking out of their ass. Clearly.

Considering the pressure and circumstances, it was awesome to see our players come out there and give their 100%. We are probably one striker and one winger short of glory.

In hindsight, Luke Shaw seems to be a bigger loss than initial assessments.

The only good thing about this game is knowing that Chelsea is as shite or shitter than us. Our fans are both in the same boat, a boat in a sea of shite

The most worrying thing about Van Gaal is his inability to positively effect the game either at half time or with his substitutions. Every single time we look worse as the game goes on and worse with every substitution.

Martial was getting a lot of joy on the left until Darmian fatigued, I was screaming at him to switch Young and Darmian as the former was also looking bright. Instead he dithers and eventually brings Martial inside.

Likewise Mata puts it on an absolute plate for Rooney who should comfortably stay onside and bury the chance, seconds later he's subbed for our worst player this season.

Then we get our standard couple of like for like defensive changes that just make us look less organised.

I thought the obvious change was Schweinsteiger off, Herrera dropping deeper next to Schneiderlin and either Pereira into the number 10 or Pereira onto the right with Mata moving more central. Whilst also moving Young behind Martial to provide extra attacking support.

We played well but Chelsea let us also play like that with their no press and midfield tactic. Also Matic should really have scored

It was a huge turning point, I really believe that. However depending on a young defender is and was sheer folly

Pleased with that

Plenty of fight and intensity with players giving their all

Just a lack of quality tonight at times and out final ball was awful

Martial was great, Rooney much better but would have been better at 10 with a speedy top quality striker

Our right side was weak and Mata rarely hurt Chelsea - hard lines with that great shot at the start - Young, Darmian and Blinds delivery from corners, free kicks and wide was a let down

We need 2/3 quality players in those attacking positions

The key aspect today was not having Fellaini on the pitch and we played football because of it. Herrera linked up the midfield and attack that's something Fellaini cannot do, we desperately needed that change. All we need now is to build on this performance and stick with the 3 man midfield (not playing with a #10), sell Fellaini in transfer window asap so we cannot play hoofball, buy an attacker who is available even Pato would do right now.

That striker being Suarez and that winger being Neymar and you are probably right.

We looked good because Chelsea were absolutely horrific and didn't even press us at all. We would have had more trouble playing any other team in this league (except Villa) as opposed to Chelsea. We are still fecking garbage and need a new CB alongside Smalling, a new set of full backs, and two top wingers or a decent number 10 so that we can play Martial up top.

All well and good but he is the one who left us short up front, and he is the one who didn't have adequate back up for Shaw, he clearly still has the players but reality is we have three points out of our last six games, and that is just not good enough, too little too late for me.

Having said that the board, or Woodward at least seemingly want to keep him, so we'll just have to hope that this is the start of things to come.

Couldn't beat an awful Chelsea side at home.

Yes the performance was better, but it's still not good enough. Chelsea are dire this season. A win only sufficed today and we could only muster a 0-0 draw.

Were we unlucky? Perhaps in some situations, but people forget the Matic miss and the DDG save on Terry.

No team can depend on one player. But he'd have added to our attacking strength. Plus that'd mean Darmian would be on the right which would probably have made the right side more formidable. So, not really depending on a young defender entirely but definitely a loss.

That may be so, but we did break their defense quite a few times. Which was a massive improvement.

You're still ignoring the fact that;1) he may have got injured at some point anyway and 2) LVG sold/loaned all our goalscorers

I think it was the same level performance we were playing before we turned to really crap. So it's nothing really. Yes, urgency was there and even a bit of desire but you could see from miles that we won't score. They were there for the taking and we didn't. Just like with City.

Like the commentator said - Rooney is not world class anymore and Martial is not yet world class. We need a world class striker.

Positives - De God showed himself again. Jackson's cross to Rooney was a beauty.

Yep. As per usual we lose the ball and we give up a great chance.

We could easily have lost against Norwich. De Gea saved us V West ham and today. Only for him we would be around where Chelsea are.

Time to play the youth players. Its clear that the players are just not up to it and they weren't against Mourinho. They just don't look like they care or are up to standard. Maybe Mourinho really did get them performing above their ability last year. Either way, it needs changing and hopefully Hiddink will make the changes Mourinho refused to make.

Am I mistaken but was that the first decent cross, either from the flanks or dead ball that we witnessed

We desperately need a target man like Lewandowski or even Ibrahimovic. Or any striker who is strong and can actually head the ball for a change.

Yes. Louis clearly underestimated the physical aspect of the Premier League. That's one thing I agree with. And no one expected such a poor showing from one of Europe's players of last season - Depay.

But, the players he's had, he's coached them well. Several of them, for example, Smalling and Young have improved under him. Plus he's getting a lot of youngsters ready for the future.

I am still backing him and I'm sure he'll delivered. And the team he is building is definitely going to be a force in the long run.

First they'll act shocked how the white Pele is actually shit and denied the hopes of England to pass the group stage, then they'll start a witch hunt against him, to only decide that he is actually in the level with Ronaldo and Messi just a few months later.

We have been there before, I doubt that anything will change!

It continuously amazes me how over-rated Rooney is. He made two good cut back passes in the box and a decent shift of play over to the Left wing and that is enough for him to get MOM, despite the multiple times he lost the ball along with a muffed scoring opportunity.
Wait until he scores another goal then you will hear how world class he is.
I am never, God willing, going to miss a match (on tv ) no matter how poor we are playing but I go into each game with little expectations. I resigned myself to face facts in that we cannot win anything with Rooney as our talisman, regardless of who the manager is or who we buy or sell.

To be fair, he did bring in Martial. And no one could have predicted Memphis to struggle so much. And some senior players like Rooney and Mata have been below par as well. A lot is left to be desired but I definitely believe we are laying a solid foundation for the long run.

I absolutely enjoyed the game today. First for a while.
Pleased with the performance of the team.
But our finishing is off....But really can't complain...

Keep Morgan and Ander in that midfield and rotate Michael/Bastian for the other place. They need to build up and understanding and gather some form. Injuries have prevented that. There were good signs today. How did DeGea not get BT's MoM?

Good first half effort - poor second. In this run we're on we're missed changed from yards out. That is unacceptable but it sums up the run we are on. The officials are crap and I bet the linesman would have seen it if it happened at the other end. The handball was blatant. Bullshit from the officials. Something to build on at least - just not happy with the second half. We lost control and never really convinced despite Herreras Miss. If Matic scores with that effort, I've no doubt we'd have lost.

Well to be fair to LVG he did say that...we just need a Cantona.

Where is he?;)

Only God knows:rolleyes:

The two off the woodwork weren't great chances. They both would have been exceptional finishes. The Rooney volley is a tough chance, though I felt he could have gone with his head.

They wouldn't be great chances normally but when it takes the woodwork to keep it out I would class that as an excellent chance.

Completely agree about those two and Rooney gets a free pass when he's diabolical so was bound to get motm playing slightly better.

It's all a matter of weighing up the pros with the cons, on the plus side he has improved some players, and played some of the youngsters, but maybe some of this was forced on him through sheer lack of options, he has also imo played a blinder with DDG, but on the cons side he has totally mismanaged the squad and sold players he never should have been allowed to, he has also inexplicably not had faith in our two brightest youngsters (Wilson and Januzaj), and most crucially of all he has had them playing some the worst football I have ever seen as a United fan.

If he was a young guy who might be here for 10 years + I could see some point in keeping him, but he is going in 18 months max, and I just think he has failed us in too many areas to be persevered with now.

How bad is Ivanovic Though. Jesus christ, dont chelsea have any u21's they could play instead at RB?
