Guardiola confirmed to City... what does this mean for us?

http://www.theguardian.com/football/2016/feb/01/pep-guardiola-manchester-city-new-manager-summer

Noisy neighbours getting a firm foothold on their future while ours is as uncertain as the stricken crew-less ship off the coast of France.

What does this mean for the immediate future of the club?

At least it's put to bed now rather than further months of speculation. It pretty much leaves us with Mourinho as the only prize fighting option unless we look at Poch, Blanc etc. As long as it doesn't mean LVG will be staying on!

The board are still pretty incompetent. So not much at all.

City moving forwards, and were moving backwards. Depressing.

Woody will give LvG a contract extension, or come up with a better idea in bringing Moyes back.

The theory that Pep was coming in the summer was the only thing fans were holding onto. Now there is no reason he should still be here. It may help us to move to a new manager quicker.

Stick with lvg till end of the season and then decide. I wouldn't mind Giggsy next season.

Are you insane? Like seriously white jacket level insane? You suggest we take on the richest club in the world with the best manager in the world in charge we a guy who was a terrific player but has no real managerial experience?

Get Jose in, give him money and watch him work is magic.

We stay with LVG then go to giggs then this club deserves everything it has coming towards it.

We'll be insane if we appoint Giggs, so that's precisely what we're going to do – in 2017, when LVG's contract runs out. In short it's a bit shite, though everyone expected it anyway.

Mou is the way to go for me, he's the only one – with financial backing of course – who might be able to challenge Pep in the next three years.

Finally, now we can peacefully hire Mourinho.

I know mate, I mean from peps own history we can see that hiring a manager with no experience can never work out.

not surprising news really

in a way im glad because I don't want us to continue with this possession for the sake of possession b/s

I want to us to move to a high tempo style as I think its more suited to the PL

Absolutely embarrassing for City btw. a manager who could win them the league and is in another final announced to be going. What an absolute farce from that club. Poor Pellegrini.

We are like a solitary old decaying office building beside a brand new executive business park with hip bars and good looking people

This means we will be fecked if we dont get a man like Mourinho in. This I am sure of.

It means we're royally fecked. I don't even expect us to respond, the club will hire Giggs and that'll be the final nail in the coffin.

same thing happened at Bayern too. Heynkes still went on to win the treble

And I very much doubt anyone is really looking at them as a farce.

A bit of difference taking over a Barcelona squad that had the likes of Messi, Iniesta, Xavi to name a few to taking over a side that has Fellaini, Jones and Lingard. That's before we even debate the different challenges managering in this league compared to La Liga.

People getting in a twist over something we've known for a while? Why?

I'd rather go for Pochettino

Makes a change from us moving sideways, I suppose.

Pellegrini is a decent manager, Guardiola is an elite one. It's a perfectly valid decision.

Giggs won't take over, the coffers have been closed this Jan when we needed reinforcing, and if Giggs was to take over we'd be looking at his targets for next season now.

It'll be someone externally, probably Mourinho, and hopefully he'll be backed financially. This also gives him plenty of time to asses the club, target players and hopefully bring some bloody stability.
