It had been there for 4 days prior to the game and nobody found it, which is a bit shocking.

At least the club acted sensibly though. Large event, lots of people all cleared without incident. Could have been real, wasn't and nobody got hurt. The systems work, so that's good.

You are right mate, there was a chance that supporters were in danger, and the game was postponed because of that. Correct decision, if a suspected bomb is found then there is no alternative but to call the game off. The safety of the people at the match is paramount and I am happy to see that is how it was treated by the club. No Embarrassment, a suspected bomb has to be taken seriously.
Not entirely, but they are to blame. They may be able to get compensation in turn from the security company, if that doesn't bankrupt them.
This is worrying. Not some juvenile bullshit about getting fined or looking a bit stupid.
It gives the impression that more work has to be done surrounding security between matches.
The only embarrassment from the club's point of view is the failure to not notice the device sooner
From noticing it on gameday, they will have notified the police as is their duty to protect the people attending the game, and from there the police will have made every decision, from evacuation through to abandonment through to bomb squad etc.
the club & the private company made to look like idiots. Still the correct thing to do in evacuating the stadium & abandoning the game, but what a farce! You'd have thought someone would've noticed it in the preceding 4 days and/or the company would've realised something is missing.
Nah....the ridicule the club will surely receive from this is entirely justified. It may have been an external company that fecked up but the club is fully responsible for what goes on within the ground. A fecking fake bomb was left lying around for a number of days and nobody clicked on until match day.

I thought it was inexplicably obvious that that part of the post wasn't entirely serious. I didn't really expect it to just be binned... Just that someone at Old Trafford today must have known about such drills taking place, the device could have been identified by the owner of it. But the point I am making is that I don't believe that that spin on the story is true at all. I could be wrong, but it sounds like shite.

You're telling me no United staff were involved in this activity and no United staff managed the grounds in between the events?
Exactly The club would surely have people on sight liasing and supervising an external company on its property. It is the fault of the firm for forgetting it but surely the old trafford staff and security would of at least checked the area in which the exercise was being done afterwards. Maybe I just have too much common sense.
People may be overreacting in a negative way towards the club but the reactions to those posts are just as bad.
Just seen the breaking news pop up on my phone and cannot believe it was a bloody fake bomb. The club are a flipping laughing stock once again. Embarrassing that we can't get anything fecking right.
You would like to think the club would of noticed this with four days to spare.
The embarrassment stems from the fact that the club's own employees planted the fake bomb by accident. If you think that's not embarrassing, you must have skin like a rhino

It was probably pretty hard to spot. A terrorists is going to make a bomb as concealable as possible, it makes sense that they prepare for one like that.
Why would you make a device as real looking as possible for training dogs? They work off scent not sight don't they. Or have these dogs been sat in classes where they have been taught how to recognise a viable explosive device by sight.

I'm not sure where the blame lies with this particular incident but we have become very unprofessional and poor at dealing with events in the years since Fergie and Gill have left. Between this, the Herrera lawyers, De Gea fax machine, Moyes, van Gaal and results on the pitch - we look like we're riddled with poor management throughout the club. We may not be to blame today but the overall underlying theme of the last 3 years has been inept management throughout the club.
I don't think anyone thinks a bomb scare is a laughing stock situation. But the negligence of how it was there reflects pretty badly on whoever is liable whether that's the club and the security company or just one of them.
