Nothing to suggest we can't spunk out the money for these, even after buying Pogba. The issues with those two is that one signed a new contract less than a month ago and the other is not going to pick us over Madrid.

he clearly is. He's been a key player for a pretty good Juve side and would walk into any team.

Kroos is a very good player, but he doesn't instantly improve every team like Pogba does. He's in the Ozil mode where for him to be at his best, he needs the players around him to be very good, otherwise, his talents at controlling the game are nullified. That's how it is for any CM that relies on passing and positioning.

Kroos can't match Pogba in terms of physical play, but is better in the playmaking department. But when it comes down to who is the better overall player, Pogba beats him any day of the week and twice on Sunday.

With Mourinho, and the signings he's brought so far, I'm hoping that we can get back to that level, meaning they'd be little reason for players wanting to leave us.

Once Messi and Ronaldo are gone, and Real and Barca can't outright outclass teams because of just how much better they are then the rest of the players in world football, the playing field will even out.

Right now, those two just make it very hard for the rest of the world to compete. After them, the rest of the top players are all pretty much in the same group. No one screams out the next Messi. Even Neymar isn't close.

uhm, it was evident in the Real side when their struggles began. He couldn't improve the side until the players around him regained form or were replaced.

He's a CM. He dictates tempo, meaning he's he table-setter. He places the food on the table and needs the others to eat. If they don't eat, he's just wasting food.

It's your opinion. The former is potentially easier to get wrecked because Griezmann is more striker than #10. 2 man midfield of Rooney Kante doesn't give a good feeling. Then there is no presence in midfield. Don't be surprised if Griezmann get dropped in case we need to put Fellaini/TFM on to get presence in midfield. Kante is still unproven as single pivot deep lying midfielder, so with him potentially we're stuck playing Carrick long term in Mourinho single pivot system, or double pivot.

Pogba as shown in second half vs Ireland and today can fit the traditional box to box or Lampard role. He can provide more defensively than Griezmann and arguably better play maker and quite good amount of goal assists too. On too of that a presence in midfiel. Jury is out for Schneiderlin or if report can be believe. Lassana Diarra is an option.

For that money(120m€) I would buy Kanté+a couple of 50m€ midfielders.
I think this would be a good idea for United too although I understand that sign him would be important,not only for Mou and the squad but for the self esteem of the club.
I still don't see the Pogba>Kroos so clearly as other posters and I wouldn't pay 100m€ for Kroos. Raiola said that Pogba likes Madrid and Barsa.I don't want Madrid to pay so much for a player that doesn't have Madrid as his only option.

For the ones who are unhappy with a reported fee, I am sure we are not gonna pay £100 million straight away. I think it will be something like Martial deal - 50% of the fee are add ons. So if we will need to pay Juventus these add ons it will mean the transfer was successful for us so I don't see a problem in that.

Just to reiterate Keys said "United THINK they have Pogba". I feel some people will ignore that word and make it to be "United have Pogba". Of course we think we have him, willing to pay a record fee or close to it, willing to give him a top wage, he's never ruled out a return and the last two transfers were players that have the same agent.

Carrick or possibly Rooney can play the Drinkwater role alongside Kante and Griezmann is obviously far better than Okazaki. This is a very balanced midfield in my opinion.

You must have missed many part of this season or Carrick first few seasons. Carrick's best possible is single deep lying role. Put him into double pivot and need to do some pressing and push up upfield and he choked. Danny Drinkwater was ask to press, to tackle and man mark beside the holding role. Rooney doesn't have the awareness of a holding midfield. The floating role/aka Stevie Me role should be his.

Mourinho doesn't play like Leicester despite also use a counter attack. Leicester was the best team in PL last season. That same Leicester team can see a different finishing position in another season, so Leceister is not the benchmark or a mastermind tactic, team should be looking to emulate. Griezman is better than Okazaki, nobody will argue that.

Unlike Atletico Madrid, Mourinho is more direct in transition. Less passing out from the back so there need some sort of presence in midfield and up top for long ball.

Here as a top team, you will need to play on the front foot from time to time. The Leicester's tactic would be prone to counter attack in case they need to pull upfield to undo a deep sitting defense. Mourinho and SAF counter attacking team shows that they can do both counter and attack on front football just fine.

So we can agree to disagree here about balance.

Schweinsteiger or Herrera for me, but it also depends on who the team is playing and who the DM is. If you go with Carrick I think you need Herrera's legwork. With Shneiderlin I'd play Schweinsteiger. I can't see Mou dropping Rooney from day 1, he's got to give Rooney a few months.

Pretty much everyone would bench/sell/polymorph Rooney if given the chance, but for some reason managers love him and he has our club by the balls.

I think the best way to approach a midfield with Pogba is to pair him with a rotating group of Schweinsteiger/Carrick/Herrera and Schneiderlin/Fosu-Mensah/and Blind

This would preserve both Carrick and Schweinsteiger throughout the year and give the rest of the players like Schneiderlin, Herrera, and TFM plenty of game time. Realistically, there won't be a static 3 as we can't expect everyone to stay healthy and in good form, and with two older, thirtysomething midfielders, we will have to rotate.

Obviously keeping Rooney would hinder all of this.

Luckily it's not up to you. There's more to a team than just attacking players. Our attack is good, it's midfield that needs strengthening.

As someone earlier mentioned, attacking players make the biggest impact. We need world class attacking players if we want to compete with the likes of Barca, City and Real Madrid. Griezmann behind Zlatan/Rashford with Martial on the left and Mkhitaryan on the right. With this forward line and Jose's defensively solid system we will be able to compete with the best teams in the world.

Like Pogba as a player. Don't love him - I love Kante and I love Griezmann. I don't know why its an "either/or" thing with those two. Kante's got a cheap release clause? Sure there'd be competition but I'd be making a big time play for him. I'd also be throwing money at Atletico for Griezmann.

Pogba floats in and out of form. He's mercurial. Also seems to have an attitude problem as we found out last time round. For a player that young to have been at two top clubs and be looking to move on again says something.
