If we do sign him, I've already made peace with the fee.
My natural reaction is that we've screwed up on an unprecedented scale if we let somebody who was so obviously a future megastar go for free, only to sign him again for a world record fee. But I've got a new way to look at it:
Pushing an 18-year-old into the squad is always very tricky and risky. Managing the transition from very promising youngster to automatic first choice ptoves incredibly hard over and again. So we've paid Juve £100m (because we can) to manage this period of development for us. And if that all works out well, it's money well spent.
Admittedly, a loan would have been more traditional.
