He was absolutely awful in the CL final and won it on penalties and barely played in the Euro final.
Whether you're a fan of him or not shouldn't change the fact he wasn't even that good at this tournament. Great in the Hungary game and quiet in the rest.

My point was, Messi and Ronaldo are too big names now and hence even when they don't exactly deserve personal trophies (occasionally), they are given those just for who they are.

Some people just talking rubbish. For Real, he turned up against Wolfsburg when they needed him, for Portugal he turned up against Hungary. Neither teams would have won both trophies without him getting them there.
