The state of

World class style tbh

Zidane was 29 and went for £46mil years ago. Pogba's game reminds me a bit of Zidane actually, i hope he becomes half the player Zidane was.
I know people keep sayoing this but i don't get why some people are mad at the price, we can obviously afford it and i doubt it will have any effect on future transfers so what difference does it make?. I think people are just pissed off that we let him go for nothing and now have to pay so much to get him back, which is fair enough i suppose.

Understandable if you're a Glazer or a major shareholder. 99% of us shouldn't give two fecks about it.

The sooner we get the Paul Pogba and James Rodríguez transfers wrapped up the better, I'm getting impatient now.
Pogba will be completed in a week and a half and we aren't going for Rodriguez. We will only be buying players who might not necessarily be in the first time but fringe players. We will only buy these players as more players are sold e.g if we sold Valencia we will buy a RB.

I quite like Mourinhos strategy here. Buy the spine - Bailly, Pogba, Mkhitaryan, Ibra. Then surround it with core players - De Gea, Smalling, Shaw, Martial. Then piece together the other players that will fit into their positions e.g Schniderlin at DM.

Rodriguez won't be part of our nucleus if we were to buy him which is why I don't think we will.

I dont think so with James either, Marca prints what RM say theyll do anything to save face and push James out.

I think it's just your memory, to be honest. He was obviously very young at the time, but he was good. Off the top of my head, he came on against Athletic Bilbao and played well, his game against Stoke was another good cameo too. I think Fergie brought him on as a CB against Leeds too but he wasn't much involved.

There's a reason the caf was in uproar when he left and it's not because of his u21 performances. When he was in the u21s a lot on here preferred Petrucci.
Maybe it's memory. Over the years, the young ones I have backed haven't been great. I though Rodrigo Possebon, Ravel Morrison, welbeck, Kean the defender, Chris Eagles!!! Were ganna be world beaters.

For anyone who missed De Brun's Periscope earlier today, its well worth a watch (from 2:00 onwards)

The man is clearly connected to the club and knows what he's talking about which I can't say for many people on Twitter. His assurance on Pogba joining United is what strikes me and he calls his source exceptional which helps.

At what basis are you guys confident that he's connected with people at the club/has good sources and that there's any truth to what he's saying? What is his history and track record in regard to transfers like? I'm just curious.
As far as I know he was wrong(and maybe even blacklisted?) during the Vidal saga, unless my memory fails me of course.

The bit about Rooney at 07:30 is pretty diabolical.

Who knows what he might be in the future but I'd rather us take the gamble than not. sometimes you do things because it's a statement, it tells Real that we have the money to outbid you. It tells other players we are serious about being the best again so come and join us. Jose was a similar statement.....

I'm not sure if he did make a claim during the Vidal saga. Does anyone remember?

I mean did he make a claim that Vidal was done like here he is doing with Pogba or was he just speculating?

Journos only report what they themselves are hearing from their sources. Sometimes the info is wrong, sometimes it's right.

So he was only speculating and didn't say both parties agreed a deal.

Hearing him say this is reassuring.

And this.

Sure, but he does still claim that the deal is through barring any unexpected complications. So if it it doesn't happen, he might say that he never claimed that it was a done deal, and that his track record is still flawless. It's easy to be a journalist/ITK when you put it like that.

But he does seem confident and well connected by the look of those tweets. I hope he's right.

You realize that until lines are dotted and United announce it, anything can change, so yeah naturally reporters aren't going to stake their reputations until they know 100% sure it will happen.

Like even if his source is Woodward, Woodward can't say, "ya man it's a done dealio for sureio" until it's actually a done deal lol. And just because they don't say 100% certainty, doesn't mean that they aren't connected to people.

That's true, fingers crossed there are no complications. We know for sure he's our 4th signing though if anyone needed to be more sure.

Pilib is connected insofar as he has connections with a few player agencies that have clients who are United players and agents do talk about what they're hearing. He also has a fairly popular radio station that talks about football, so he obviously has connections with that.

 how sweet that you're concerned for the guy's state of mind. I don't think you understand the mentalities of top level sportsmen, however. Sounds like no one is worried (including Pogba, evidently, if he chooses to sign for us) except you tbf
You're kidding right?

I'm certainly not the only person worrying about the mental state of potentially our biggest investment.

Pogba will sign because it means status and more money. He loves both.
He won't give a second thought about expectations.

But if this world record deal goes through it will be unprecedented, and none of us really know what to expect.
It won't be the first time that a youngster is bought for a ridiculous fee though.
Sterling, Bebe, Carroll, the list is endless.

Sometimes a player can rise above the issue a big fee brings, sometimes not.
So, while I don't lose sleep at night, I think it's perfectly reasonable to be concerned for the insecure little flowers that football players obviously are.

What the hell? I've never used periscope before. How do you skip to 2:00? Really rather not sit through him making leery remarks about his wife using a massive vibrator straight after giving birth.

I get what your saying but Pogba has been winning titles where Sterling and Carroll were never going to live up to their price tag because the fee was mainly because they were English. I assume Bebe was a typo.:)

No need to worry about Pogba's mentality. This is a guy who defied sir Alex Ferguson to go make it at Juventus - which he did.

But we are literally the only club that perceives him to be worth 120million. If he really was worth that much, there would be other suiters. It just so happens that both of Real and Barcelonas midfield is superior to him, whilst Chelsea /City don't perceive him to be worth such a silly amount.

For 100m, I'd expect the finished article, bearing today's market in mind. I respect your opinion though, because valuation is subjective. I think the difference is just that you see him as a cert. World Great whereas I have my doubts.

Sure, he's not worth that amount to any other club, but with our marketing men, sponsorship deals and the 'homecoming' angle, it's obviously been decided that he's worth it to ours. And he might be. We're paying what it costs, no one else is prepared to, no other club currently out of the Champions League could pull it off if they wanted to.

IMHO his true value is no more than £70m, but hey the club has wasted far more money in recent years than the extra it's prepared to pay for him.

Absolutely agree. I'd rather "waste" about 30-40m on Pogba than spread it out on lesser players Liverpool style. We don't need to bolster the squad, we need to acquire game changers.

Pogba is 100x more naturally talented than Bebe Carroll etc etc.

I really do think the majority of people that "dont want him" are fans that haven't watched him since he left, or remain bitter than he left and we have to buy him back.

He's a fantastic player, skilful on the ball, works his socks off and can shoot and pass like the best of them, what more do you want?

Can someone please sum up what Pilib says in that Periscope about Pogba?

It says 'Replay Unavailable' for me.

Why do people find the idea of 'preparing a bid' so hilarious?

You guys do realise there's more to these things than "we'll give you £100m for Pogba, please use the yes/no voting options attached to this email to reply" right?

There will be several different clauses involved that increase the offer based on various scenarios, the staging of the payments to be determined and other such stuff.

This is a legal process for the potential sale of a £100m asset. Of course work goes into it.

This just blew my mind. Nail on head.

My general opinion towards football has changed massively in the last 5/10 years.

I used to be fiercely passionate about the way we ran the club and developed players, peppering the team with the occasional star to ensure success.

Now, with all the oil money, sugar daddies and Russian playthings, I feel so disconnected from the game I used to know that I couldn't really care less how we go about making the side good again.

It might place me int a category of supporter I used to despise but, feck it, I just want to enjoy watching football. If that means spunking stupid money on kids with horrendous fashion taste, just to get that X factor back, then so be it. This season will be entertaining, one way or another.

Exactly, I think people see the astronomical figures with football transfers and just can't feel comfortable with it. At the end of the day 100 million is huge crazy money, but it's all within the football bubble. It doesn't effect us, won't change ticket prices etc so why do we have to worry?

The best we can hope for is a bit of both - a few homegrown stars alongside expensive purchases.

Yes the new ownerships have really been game changers and i think we were a bit behind the curve on that due SAF's brilliance.
I think now we just have to find the right balance between spending big and bringing players through. We are playing catch up right now but hopefully transfers like this one if it goes through will gets us there, then we we can be more prudent with transfers. Mourinho hasn't on the past spent big on individual players in the past but there aren't many players like Pogba around either.

Stuff like this always comes across as bollocks. If Woodward was giving him information and he was posting it on Twitter for the world to see then Woodward would never tell him a thing again.
