Do you want Pogba for £100 million?

They have a plan B and C. Missing out on Pogba would be a huge disappointment, however.

I read Jose's comments as posturing. It seems highly likely that there is an impasse on Raiola's cut and Juve want us to pay it. I'm sure that Jose comments were intended to say 'we will not be held to ransom', if you want to walk away from the deal and keep an unhappy player we have other targets'.

I do believe an agreement will be reached.

Juve enticed him into moving Pogba by giving him 20% of any future transfer fee, now they want us to pay that cut

They are playing hard ball.
Exactly. Juve are obviously trying to move the goalposts after we've met their initial deal. Jose is just reminding them that Pogba isn't the only player in the world and if they ask WAY too much then we can move on.

I have no doubt we will meet a middle ground and get the deal sorted. Juve need to get reinforcements in, we need the player in for pre season and Pogba needs to know where he is playing. It doesn't help anybody it dragging on anymore.

First. Raiola flying to Miami is a good sign. If the deal was off why would he leave Turin or Europe?

Secondly. Pogba still has an agreement with United. If he, at this stage of the deal, was interested in Real Madrid then Raiola and Perez would tell everybody under the sun about this new information. So at the moment you can relax. Madrid isn't on table.

Third. Juventus is playing a dangerous game. They want to re negotiate the deal they had with Raiola. Strictly legally that's not Uniteds concerns. That's a problem between Juve and the agent.

Fourt. In every negotiation both parties tries to negotiate details in to the last seconds before the deal is finalized. Especially a veteran dealer like Marotta. Nothing unusual. In this case I think Marotta wants United to pay Raiola's fee by upper their bid from €110 to 120m. Off course Woodward is so far ice cold about this proposal. He already reached an agreement about the fee, Raiola is Juves headache.

In order to save the deal I think Raiola want all three parties to share the burden by lowering their demands. That's why he's going to Miami to present this solution to his client. As soon as the deal is accepted he and Pogba needs to go thru all the details. This is probably Paul Pogbas most important deal in his whole life. Then face to face talks are expected. Raiola is a serious agent who cares for his clients.

Will the deal go thru? Yes! To much prestige involved. Juve wants the money. Pogba and Raiola knows this is golden opportunity to earn crazy money. United can't lose this deal, again. Way to much goodwill involved.

Relax all of you. Pogba will be a United player before end of August.!

Great point, mate! This has left me feeling quite optimistic..

I wish that the deal goes through as soon as possible. Remember, we have to sell players as well. As long as the Pogba saga continues, we can't move in the market too much.
Furthermore, its just about fair that you tell the players who are expected to leave, that the writing is finally on the wall. In this way, they can plan their future course of action.

All based on the assumption that the following information is correct.

1/ Raiola + Juventus have a contract stating that Juventus have obligation to pay a 20% fee of any future transfer of Pogba.
2/ After preliminary agreement on fee between Man Utd and Juve, Juve then insist Man Utd pay agents fee

This is how it should be done.

1/ Man Utd in coordination with Raiola should have a legal binding document between themselves stating that both parties are in acknowledgement that Juve are essentially blackmailing Man Utd by attempting to invalidate the contract between Raiola and Juve re 20% fee.
2/ Man Utd should pay the agreed fee to Juventus and Raiola's 20% fee
3/ Use the legally binding document made between Man Utd + Raiola to sue the feck out of Juventus.
4/ Make sure that the legal case is dragged out in the public domain using ALL means neccessary to make it clear what type of underhanded club Juventus are and in the process destroying all notion of the 'romance' that the name Juventus once had.
5/ After winning the legal case against Juventus make it clear that Man Utd stand for freedom, honesty and integrity

And finally

Feck Juventus

** EDIT **
Oh and please have pity on a fellow n00b muppet, redcafe member and help me to the realms of manhood

It looks to me like "Frey-bentos" are trying to take the piss, asking us to pay the agents fee in its entirety, and this is why Jose let it be known we have are fingers in other pies, going off our history with trying to obtain the worlds elite footballers, I'm not as confident as I was Tuesday that's for sure.

Why do you think so? Genuine question.

Ed should play hardball with Juve, give them a deadline of say Sunday and then move on with other targets as the season will soon be here

Now, before I question anything here I want to stress that this was a very good post.

But how much of this do we know for sure is true?

If I had a second life, I'd come back as an arrogant self important agent. What an easy way to make money. Have just one world class player on your books and you're made for life!

It isn't easy though is it. You have to have balls as big as watermelons and be able to bend peoples will to your own.

Raiola is a distasteful character but a very shrewd operator. Lukaku's dad revealed an interesting snippet about him earlier this year. He said that Raiola doesn't want to move Lukaku to an elite club yet, he wanted to move him to Italy first preferably. We can see that is what he has done with Pogba, took him away from an elite level club (money wise) and now he is moving him again for crazy money, if he had stayed at United the only possible move that would have been a big earner for him would be to Madrid. Raiola looks to maximise his earnings from players by scaling them up. I'm sure that if we do sign Pogba Raiola will have his eye on a £150m move to Madrid in four years time.

I don't get invested in transfer sagas by worrying myself, or refreshing here, or twitter and things like that. You can check how frequently i have posted on this Pogba thread for example, don't make a fool of yourself.

The line was, "I don't get invested in United AND transfer sagas!"

There was no mention of, "worrying myself, or refreshing here, or twitter and things like that".

Guess you're not the most articulate! Hahahahahaha

I'm sure he will, but I expect Pogba will be too. IT's not really a shocking theory as much as it is the the most likely thing to happen.

Everything is going according to what I told (Im no ITK but I have followed Juventus and Mino for enough time to know how they work). Juventus will try and pinch every penny from this deal including any money they owe to Mino and Mino won't allow this deal to happen unless he gets his cut. United are working smart (although its a bit risky). Mino made the deal with Juventus and he will have to sort it out with them. United can't be expected to pay Mino's cut. Its risky because Mino is unpredictable and may try to involve Real or send United to Frek off.

Lets hope that United truly have 2 other options to move to. Hopefully it doesn't include Matuidi whose not really good in playing football.

Seems Flo-logical that RM might refocus on Pogba after losing out on Gomes
You really think they "wanted" Gomes over Pogba in the first place? not a chance sorry. They just don't want to spend that sort of money on a player they don't really need.

I just have this feeling Woody wants to give Mou the 100% he has asked for.....no excuses. United might just bite the bullet and pay up, or cut some other deal with Mino....not sure.

Feck their silly club. They should be paying the agent fees. They are already getting a world record fee. I bet you if Madrid came calling they wouldn't have been making such a fuss.

Transfers are so complicated these days, remember watching a programme in the 90's where one chairman would pick up the phone and make an offer for a player, if they accepted they then gave players permission to talk with the club, done and dusted in days, really cant stand agents in the game, there is potentially 20m going straight out the game of football, imagine what they could do in the grassroots of football, things like this need capped, its embarrassing for the sport and needs looked at.

I genuinely think that Raiola is on and will be on his best behaviour with us, he knows that Utd is where the serious money are. And since I believe we will go down a galactico-light route the next years he will want a piece of the pie for many years to come.

Whatever happens, I'm loving this saga...

El Confidencial say in an article published on Friday morning that there’s recently been a last desperate telephone call between Zidane and Pogba, with each man seemingly wanting the player to end up at Madrid, and urging the other to do what they can to help that happen.

However, it’s not happening. Florentino Perez is said to not be a huge fan, and isn’t sure about the player’s character, and isn’t keen on Mino Raiola.

Pogba’s return to Manchester United is painted as very likely indeed, but El Confidencial go out of their way to make that sound as miserable a scenario as possible.

Bolded to stop any potential freakout

I like Jose 's quotes. We are already paying record breaking transfer fee and huge wages, now they are asking us to pay the agent fee as well.
Where will all this end? We meet every wish of every selling club and become a joke like that?
There needs to be a stage where we communicate enough is enough and we have more than one player to fill the position.

How on earth would any newspaper know, literally hours after it happens, that a man phoned another man? Unless they're tapping his calls.

Bullshit

imo, last minute "leak" to the papers because they know how close the deal is. So they can turn around and say "MUFC reckless spending didn't even give us a chance", even though they had no chance because of our offer and chasing gomes.

This is actually quite incredible from them. Gets Raiola on his side by enticing him 20% of transfer fees and then ends up asking United about that cut.

Exactly.

Jose's comments basically confirm that we have reached an agreement with Pogba and he wants to come here (Otherwise he would just refuse to comment). The only thing dragging this transfer is Juve being greedy and wanting us to pay more.

This is what worries me. Not that we won't get Pogba but that we'll end up with Matuidi.

I for one still believe this one is still happening,we still got one more week before the deadline, if its not today then still one good week to go.

What deadline? Jose has been talking about Aug 31 in last 2 pressers.

The more I think about all this I think United are right. If it's true that Juve have asked us to pay the 20 percent fee of the transfer to Raiola that they agreed when he signed for them, then they should get lost. Mourihno is saying all the right things, we shouldn't give in to ridiculous demands. I want pogba as much as anyone but United should not bow to every demand either. This saga is going to drag another week at least which is crap. I still think the Pog will come in the end.

I just think that there are many greedy men holding things up. It's a huge deal to complete but there is more going on than normal behind the scenes I think. Mino Raiola is a snake, no wonder Fergie didn't like him. The amount of money he's probably got of us already this summer is probably scandalous, never mind this apparent 20m fee. Great window for the club regardless, we will get what we need. If Pogba really wants to come he will push for it at the end. I don't think he will let this deal rest on the greed of his agent or Juve. This is what I've read on the situation. Nobody can really know the truth is or what's going on behind the scenes.

Clubs might hate agents but player really need them. IIRC Zlatan said in his book how Ajax didn't pay the money they owed him on technicalities and after that only he appointed his agent.

New Raiola quotes from his CdS interview on the Caf's twitter timeline.

That's a brilliant idea, tapping Mendes' and Raiola's phones. Imagine the ITK status

"At the moment I can tell you that Pogba is a Juventus player," Allegri said at the pre-match press conference ahead of Saturday night's International Champions Cup meeting with A-League club Melbourne Victory.

"We do not know what is going to happen."
