Do you want Pogba for £100 million?

There are 2 fees that raiola is entitled to.

One is based on his agreement with juve whereby he gets a % (reported to be 20%) of the fee juve receives for Pogba. Other is a 20m fee which United promised to pay if he gets us ibra, mkhitariyan and Pogba (maybe matuidi too).

Issue now is juve was offered 100m but they would get only 80m of this as they have to pay 20m to raiola. So they quoted 125m so that they receive 100m and agent gets 25m. This is supposed to be the issue whereby juve wants 100m for themselves. I guess they assumed raiola might forego his share since he is pushing for a move
I see - thanks

Given the lots at Juventuz keep talking about Pogba ambition about the ballon d'or and seeing how he is a bot of a show off and show boat, he'd be smart to make this move to us in order to gain much more exposure and the prestige of being seen as the world most expensive player.

He gets to lose CL football for a year(he is still very young) but gain much more in return, the likes he'd never dream of accomplishing at Juventus, starting with far more global exposure + hype(British media can almost on their own manage to get a player winning individual awards due to the fact they can feed the mass with over exaggerated hype if they like a narrative).

I don't even need to talk about money and such, he'll practically double his wages.
The last player from EPL who made top 3 in Ballon D'Or is Cristiano Ronaldo in 2009, right?

I think that they feed the masses which are EPL fans, not to the others. EPL players haven't done well in Ballon D'Or or FIFPro teams, although a large reason for that is the lack of top quality players in EPL.

With these astronomical fees being bandied around (the Higuain deal even more so than the Pogba one) have we now gone way beyond the point of a financially unsustainable, and more crucially irreversible, footballing world? I'm not so sure myself as my grandad, who was disgusted about how money orientated football had become, used to constantly tell me even back in the early nineties that one day the 'bubble will burst'. Accept here were are in 2016 with the transfer record yet again set to be shattered while the 'business' itself just seems to plough on without any kind of decline or even crash seemingly on the horizon.

We're still spending a comparable percentage of our income to what we used to though; we just happen to earn a ridiculous amount more than we used to.

Juventuzzzzz will be too delirious about finally landing the GOAT Higuain to care about losing someone as insignificant as Pogba.

I'm torn if Pogba signs I'll be amazed and delighted but a little voice in my head will be saying he doesn't want to be here...he does not want to be here...

I hope we get him soon. I've been neglecting my family for days now refreshing this thread.
The fee doesn't trouble me. One of the biggest names in football, still very young. This deal will also bloat the market fees even higher, making it harder for our rivals to bring in their targets.

I think that's being harsh on Juve as a club. They are massive.
No I'm not talking about the clubs but the league(EPL) which bring far more exposure than Serie A or any other league in the world.

Juventus is of course a huge club, there is no doubt about it and I would never disrespect them by claiming otherwise, but Serie A still doesn't get as much exposure(or anywhere near close) as the PL which is what someone like Pogba would(or should) certainly be looking for if he want more stardom and such.

The media over here hype players to heaven. Given the seasons Pogba had in Serie A, had he been doing his stuff in the Prem, he'd have been hyped a lot more than he currently is.

Not on the zlatan scale. He'll be 36 by the time the season starts.

Yeah that was kind of my point, as everyone was laughing at oppo fans saying Zlatan's 35yr, so it's kind of funny to add years for other players ;)

I wouldn't look at thing this way. The thing is, Messi and Ronaldo have been so dominant that the outcome about either of them clinching the ballon d'or is an obvious and forgone conclusion.

However if you have a player close to their level putting up decent results with their teams then I guaranty the media would easily propel them to Messi level. Let's say Neymar is in the Prem putting similar performances to the ones he's doing for Barca recently, I'm sure the British media would hype him to Messi level(even though he's not quite there yet but not to far either).

I mean most English players are quite overrated and the world as a whole seem to buy in what the British media feeds them. To this day most people(around the world) still think Rooney is still a top top player when in truth that stopped a few years ago. The new kids breaking through for England get elevated to high level and consequently ridiculously overrated yet the world seem to eat whatever stories and hype the British media feed them and consider them world class or top players, case in point the likes of Sterling etc.

The media know how to talk, feed people hyperbole and make people listen and believe to hypes. English being an universal language just facilitate this process of over hyping players.

So we are wasting 94 on million Higuain. We would have been way better off just buying Griezmann if we are losing Pogba.
Don't think Juve quite have the pull to take Griezemann.

I said before I didn't want this to drag out and that's exactly what's happening. The worse thing is the longer it goes on, the more painful it will be if we don't sign Pogba.

Pessimists fill my head. Are we sure it isnt Madrid who is giving the money for Higuain.

Well, Pogba has gone strength to strength since joining Juve. This is fact, not opinion.
Apart from money, if Pogba really values his career achievements over everything else then Juve is where he should stay for another year. Next season he can re-assess.
At present Juve (on pitch) are a better club than us. Based on a few months ago, we are dire. Our attackerrs are an embarrassement who struggle to score 2 goals per game. We do however, now have a top class manager. But Juve would argue that they too, have a top class manager.
In contrast, Juve just won their league. They now have the best striker in Italy joining them. and last season they made the 2nd round of the CL (not great, but better than us).
If Pogba stays, they'd probably consider themselves favourites to win the treble. That's how good Juve are.

The position which Juve are in right now...MUFC aspire to one day, be in that position. We are talking about breaking transfer fee records to be in Juve's position.

And lets talk about league finishes.
Our last 3 league finishes: 7, 4, 5.
Juve's last 3 league finishes: 1, 1, 1

I'm not 100% sure that you know how good/bad we actually are on the pitch.

For selfish reasons, like you, I hope Pogba joins us, but for his own career, he should stay put and wait to see what happens next season.

Riaola will prefer Pogba to move to us, as he can move Pogba later to Madrid and get another pay check.

Its not really dragging, the season doesn't start for weeks and the window even longer. It just feels like it is because we sit in here pressing f5.

The little voice in your head will vanish after you see us winning the league and taking the CL by storm the following year.

If we do re-sign him I hope all of ye are proved right and I'm proved wrong. Just seems to me he isn't all that bothered about playing for United. If he was he wouldn't have left in the first place. After all the only players ahead of him in the pecking order were a 35 year old asthmatic and a Brazillian fullback. If he was as great as you were all making out he would have been first choice within 12 months. Seems like a mercenary Cnut to me. As I say I hope I'm proved wrong.

Not sure if he is a 'mercenary cnut' but if you have apprehensions over loyalty, its fair enough. I don't think business quite works like that and I don't need everyone to be a fan as long as there is no lack of effort. Also, if you are looking at players who only wants to play for United, then most likely are going to miss out on a lot of players. I see you wanted Kante (albeit different kind of players), but do you know if Kante truly wanted to play for us? or did he get the benefit of the doubt magically?

Madrid back in it according to AS.

How can they be, when we've agreed with all parties and subsequently he's only a signature away from joining us? It's a done deal.

Can't folk just move on to another thread? Fabinho?

No. He's entitled to the one fee. 20% of the transfer fee which is a clause in Pogbas Juve contract. 20% of €120m is €24m or rather 20% of £100m is £20m. It's not 2 separate fees. It's one fee. People have gotten themselves confused unnecessarily.

And United will of course pay both Pogba and Raiola a signing on fee/bonus but that certainly wont be £20m

Well, if its stardom a player wants, then he should wait another year and hope Madrid come in for him. DDG wanted this. Ronaldo, too. Di Maria was unwanted by Madrid, so went to PSG.
When was the last time an EPL player got the BallonD'or award?
And when was the last time a Spanish league player to the BallonD'or?

This is the Summer's biggest transfer saga. Every MUFC fan (whether they admit it or not), loves a transfer saga during the off-season.
Question: Can't folk just move on to another thread?
Answer: HELL NO!!!

For anyone trawling through Twitter be wary of a fake Mino Raiola account, nearly gave me a heart attack.

Which part of Real Madrid have a transfer ban next year do we not understand?

We could lock it till he's signed?!

Mmmmm nice "balanced" opinion there ;)
