Any actual news on if we're any closer to signing him?
nope. Just further reports clarifying that madrid are nowhere near this thing.
Any actual news on if we're any closer to signing him?
I think we'll get some news leaking tonight.
Madrid stuff is absolute BS. GdS wrote today that Juve demanded Kroos, Madrid declined. Now Tancredi is trying to get clickbait by claiming saying perez has gone "all in" and that Riaola going to Miami is "unusual". No idea how he comes to that conclusion but he's the one looking for clickbait.
people flushing money down the drain because they see a news clip. Seriously, do people thing bookie odds have any predictive power? They are absolutely useless because they move on the outcome of stupid people betting based of no information.
Announcement Wednesday.
I suspect that we've been led to believe that this is a done deal. However, I also suspect that Juve (or Pogba) are dragging this out, making tiny demands every now and then, in order to stall for time for some reason. Either because Pogba is waiting for Madrid to do something, or Juve are making sure their deals are in place first.
The delays must be because of one of three reasons IMO:
1. It's a "done deal" but a massive deal with a lot of technicalities to iron out like image rights, instalments, performance add ons, etc
Or
2. We are doing what we often do and are negotiating over relatively small amounts of money (in the scheme of things) - unfortunately this also gives Madrid more time to try and put together a deal themselves.
Or
3. Pogba himself is not 100% convinced about going to United (despite his agent persuading him to!) and is stalling in the hope that Madrid come back in.
This has to be the most tedious, tiresome, pointless thread in history. This should be locked and just wait till Pogba signs or he/Juve fecks off!
And close a few of their own deals.Deal is done, Juventus are just trying to look tough to their fanbase.
He was discussed previously, he reported something before other news outlets. Could have some insight.Claudio Raimondi is the guy who reported it. Can anyone confirm his reliability?

Quite the contrary, some fans did criticise Phelan at times and i also recall Faria being pointed out last season when things were going too well. but ultimately the buck will always stop with the manager, anyhow the fact of the matter is it is not about Giggs ability but more to due with he was involved with 2 failed managers (Moyes and LVG) and many think he should share some blame for our failings.
Why do you believe that's what he wants? Because that's what Real's media outlets have been telling you? We've also been told all along that we've had a deal agreed with Pogba in principle since the start. Why do you prefer to believe the one story over the other?
The simple truth here is that if Pogba wanted to go to Real, he'd wait for them to come in for him. There'd be no agreements in principle, no protracted negotiations, he'd simply have told us "no" and had Raiola press the Madrid angle for him instead. He's young enough that running his contract down a little (if Real weren't willing to pay up) wouldn't adversely affect his career. And if Real were unwilling to pay that sort of fee, why would he want to come to us to sign a long-term contract that will do nothing other than to increase his valuation if his goal is to end up there eventually anyway?
I think the most likely explanation for the delay is the most widely reported one: there are complications with the payment to Raiola and Juve are playing hardball with us.
[edit] None of that's to say that Real won't come in with a last-minute bid to gazump us, but it would still have to meet Juve's valuation and none of that is contingent on where Pogba wants to end up. If both clubs meet the valuation, it might come down to his preference and that's really the only situation where we'll truly know his mind.[/edit]
Would you disagree that Giggs probably wanted Chicha to stay? All an assistant can do is put their opinion across but we all know how stubborn LVG is
I don't know, we could still have agreed a deal 'in principle' with Pogba but he hasn't yet signed it, I.e. "If Pogba goes to United, these are the terms that will apply"GdS reconfirming Pogba's deal with MUFC is done would kind of remove this one right? Wouldn't pogba stalling mean no deal at all? Not even in principle?

Maybe any other summer, Paul would have signed a new contract with Juve by now and be prepared to wait for Real next summer, but the complication at this point is that Real may have a transfer ban by then.I meant I believe it's his preference to go to Real. I don't believe us agreeing a deal in principle with him makes it as simple as 'Pogba prefers United to Real'. And it is not just Spanish media that have reported that his preference is Madrid.
I'm aware that he can obviously only go to Real if they meet the valuation. My point was, whatever talks may be happening or have happened between him/Raiola and Zidane may have caused him to not want to rush into signing a deal with us.
And who knows, perhaps he WILL stay at Juve for longer and wait for Real. He hasn't joined us yet. That would depend also on whatever assurances Real can offer him of course.
Again, he may well come back here. If he does, it won't be because he was forced, of course. It will likely be because we offered obscene cash to him. Quite simply, I believe he would prefer to play for Real than us, which isn't outrageous.
Teams like Everton, Palace and West Ham have agreed deals this summer with Witsel, Batshuayi and Bacca. I doubt all Everton fans are certain Witsel will join because a deal has been agreed. The fear will always remain that Juve don't sell Pogba and out up the money, and Witsel would likely stall until he was confident that wasn't the case. I'm sure he'd rather join them than stay in Russia, but he wouldn't rather join the, than Juve. At the moment, Juve haven't met the fee, but they are interested, which is why the deal won't go through in 24 hours. Shaqiri eventually joined Stoke as they were the only ones who would pay, however, he took his sweet time in signing, although the numbers were accepted well before. I also doubt Robinho or Aguero would have joined City if Barca/Real matched the numbers.
Of course, Real may not match the fee, but as long as they are 'interested' and the market remains open, I doubt Pogba will sign in a hurry. I wouldn't be surprised if it was a case of any deal with Real being held up only by commission to see him waive his fee or a part of it to help.
Not trying to be a pessimist, and was previously more confident, but that was largely due to announcements that Real had withdrawn completely which came out a couple of weeks back. While they remain in the hunt according to reports, I will never be as confident, as I believe they would be his first choice.
Tancredi is adamant Madrid are back in for him.

It is very relevant. First of all because it hits Paul Scholes as a supporter. The club he loves has lost a player with great potential because he wasn't given space in our team. Paul Scholes may wonder if Pogba would have still left if he remained in retirement + he would be furious with the boy for not fighting for his first team place (these are people who think that Manchester United is the centre of the universe and that anything beyond not succeeding there is a failure).
It also hits him as a SAF's loyal disciple. Believe it or not, PS is SAF's most loyal disciple. Unlike Giggs and Gaz Paul Scholes didn't had any agents. When Moratti enquired about the guy, he ended up speaking with SAF who told him to stick his offer in an inappropriate place. Paul Pogba is the living embodiment of SAF's rare but biggest feckup. We're actually buying our talent back for 100m because the manager (Paul Scholes idol) preferred to stick to his golden oldies (which also include PS) than to this kid. For us, its not really that bad to admit that SAF messed up. He's the single most important person in this club's history but he's still human after all. However these people owe everything to the man, he made them the stars they are now and lead them to multiple victories. Basically they owe him everything and they can't stomach that he might have messed up big time.
Finally it challenges the very concept of the United way. The class of 92 have this romantic view of that period and think that United were lead by some knight in shining armour who would rather lose trophies then not giving youths a chance. Its unthinkable for them that SAF would rather lose a top quality but inexperienced talent and rely on his old guard just to end his career on high. This mentality is ironically highlighted by the Keano-SAF spat which is brilliantly described in one of SAF's books. At one point, Keane looked at SAF and told him that he had changed and he wasn't the man Keano idolised anymore. SAF admitted that he had to change else he wouldn't keep on winning. That is something I believe that the class of 92 have yet to fully comprehend. The SAF who gave them their shot wasn't the same SAF's of Pogba's time.
He's been saying that for the last few days though. Nothing that he hasn't already said.Go through his tweets.
He's saying they are back in for him but it will be too late.
