Do you want Pogba for £100 million?

The post was made 13 months ago...not a few months.

Not that it really changes anything.

I hadn't watch a lot of Pogba 13 months ago. It was around the time he was doing bits in the Champions League. But he had a poor final and I seen a lot more of him this season.

I was going off of name value. And a lot of people here are, too.

Doesn't that Pilib guy supposed to be reliable? At least about probably 100 pages back. Close to Mourinho, that he called couple of transfer in advance etc?

I bet you still haven't watched that much of him. Apart from the CL and Euros of course, which is the best way to judge a player.

Spooky is honorary president of the site and the man behind the world's best ever transfer wum, Milan Star Dreams of United. Look it up in the classics. So yeah, he gets some leeway.

Thanks. But but....but.

Perhaps I'm not wumming.

Anyway the deal is very close - make of that what you will.

If this does fall apart we go back to the old "wonky midfield" strategy that has served us so well in recent years.

We already lost Sanches, Gomes signed for Barca. Who is the 4th choice? Matuidi? a 29 year old PSG don't mind losing? Inspiring stuff.

We need to close this Pogba deal, no excuses.

Matuidi has done very well for PSG and the bosses and fans love and appriciate him there!
He's a very good player and would easily improve our midfield. His services in the past are the reason why PSG won't block a transfer if Matuidi is asking for it - they don't want to sell him they simply say it's his choice.

I rate him quite highly and he's impressed me over the last years. He would be a very good box-to-box player for us tbh.

No he isnt. He is in CA ffs. Italian journos associated with Juventus IN Italy dont even know whats happening. He is half way across the world with no contacts.

I see. Not so long ago he claimed it's a done deal according to "sources"

So you admit you were wumming then?. Thats should be a ban according to the rules.

I wasn't wumming, no. I was posting my truthful opinions, as of now. And it was winding people up to the point that they are looking up posts from over a year ago.

13 months ago, the majority of this forum thought that Memphis Depay was capable of 15+ goals in a Premier League season. It's football - it happens.

I think this is pretty much done. There are probably just a few minor details to iron out and/or Juve are being strategic as to when and how this will be announced.

One of the major reasons I think this is because of the behaviour of the Italian media. Juve are not leaking out any 'Pogba might stay/may go to Madrid stories' at all. I think if there was no firm agreement with us, there'd be media reports like the above all over the shop in Italy as it would be in Juve's interest to drip feed that stuff. Instead, the last we heard from all reliable Italian sources is that a deal is agreed or close to being agreed with large bouts of silence in between updates. They are just ticking along and waiting for United and Juve to complete a deal that's 99% done IMO.

And btw, for those that think this saga has been dragging on too long - if you actually look at some of the other similar big money moves that have materialised over the last few years for example Bale to Madrid/Suarez to Barcelona, you'll find that they also dragged several weeks. We've only been in a 'serious' position to sign Pogba for just over a couple of weeks at this stage - it's really not that long for a potential record breaking transfer, especially considering the player is on holiday in a different country.

I agree with your sentiments. This Pogba deal is starting to give me headaches. Why not throw the £100m at Matuidi and Verratti? PSG will eat our hands for that price.

The right back issue also needs to be addressed. We need a quality player in that position. A big club like ours shouldn't be playing Valencia as RB.

How's Pogba changed in the last 13 months?

He pretty much carried his country to back-to-back Copa America's. Less so this year than last year.. but he was again player of the tournament.

Do you watch football? I can't possibly fathom why you'd question Sanchez - he's far from the worst player on that illustrious list.
I'm not saying Sanchez isn't an excellent footballer, he is. But he's not better than Pogba.

Any update on todays events? Not trawling through a 30 page scourge of muppetry.

Yeah because they are so fecking desperate for money right? And this even after the President/owner came out and said Verrati is intransferable.

He's one of the best midfielders in the world and he's only just turned 23. How many would you say are better than him?

That's a good question because the 'central midfield' position is one that is lacking in top talent these days. So maybe I'd still include Pogba even now. But is he worth 120m? No.

How's Pogba changed in the last 13 months?

As I mentioned before, I was basing him on name value. I've seen a lot more of him this season than I had at that point. I still might include him, because there aren't many CMs in the world that are class and he has a lot of potential (as mentioned by myself previously in this thread.) It shouldn't be a surprise that a talent United value at over 100m could be seen as being one of the best in the world in his positions.

PSG would laugh their bollocks off at that offer.

I agree with @The Purist although admittedly, I have watched far more of Sanchez than Pogba. I still think Pogba improves virtually every midfield in the world though if he is used in the right way.

Oh god not this again. It's moot because even if Veratti and Modric are better than Pogba (which they are) we're not getting them. It's a stupid debate.

Pretty much. And as I admitted before, I'd be excited if Pogba was coming to Arsenal.

I think the main miscommunication here is me telling people that he is not worth the price United have paid and that he isn't the finished article. I don't think any players are worth 120m, bar maybe Messi, Neymar and, at a push, Luis Suarez.

Sorry, but that's just irrational..

PSG would NEVER sell Verratti - he's the most promising CM talent in the world (even a notch ahead of Pogba I think). So there's absolutely no chance of getting him any time soon.

However, as I've posted a few days back there're certain option to address multiple positions with the Pogba money:

About 30m for Matuidi
20-25m for Fabinho
40-50m for a RW/#10 (Mahrez, Yannick Ferreira Carrasco etc.)
10-25m for a decent CB (Mustafi is reportedly up for sale for 25m) or if we would just go for a back-up we might go for Williams from Swansea

Just a quick example and I would really like to see us signing Pogba. I simply can't see it happening and it wouldn't be the end of the world if we don't land him, though.

Yeah those arent his sources. He just goes by what the other journos are saying and calls them "sources".
There are about dozen bullshit sources every day, hard to keep up with whatever is accurate. I'm sticking to Di Marzio for now.
