If United want something out there, they go and brief a select few journalists. If they don't want it out there - they keep quiet. Even if the higher ups at sponsors do have an inside track (which I doubt), it'd be on a confidential basis. They certainly won't be sending emails out to their social media department 'OMG, Paul Pogba is signing for United, start following him on Twitter'

People really will create a narrative that suits their theories out of ANY piece of information - confirmation bias really hits Muppets hard during the Summer window.
While what your saying could be true;

WHY would they just randomly follow Pogba? it's not like he's american or has any endorsements with Chevrolet. The only thing that ties him to them is Man Utd. The fact it's just happened after all these he will join in 48 hours etc, there's no smoke without fire or coincidence.

Pogba's twitter account is strange, isn't it? It says "Proud to represent @adidasfootball across the world!", but the pic shows him in the french Nike kit. (Maybe it's part of his old deal with Nike that he still must have such a picture.)

However, the most terrible thing in transfer window are these twitter "journalists" and their speculations. "Believe me... a source of mine... I was right with Bale, believe me..." It's like the oracle of Delphi. With more drugs.

It will happen, it seems. And I expect that the contract will be that complex that some will say Pogba costed us 110 mio. Other 150 (with bonus, etc.)

Sports Marketing can be very strange. New and old agreements that go hand in hand. Adidas and Nike going hand in hand. Its been like this for a long time. The guy who made Nike as big as Coca Cola, he even went to work with Adidas. But make no mistake, the two companies are rivals. Its still rock & roll in marketing and I urge anyone who dont know what they want to work with to consider a career in the land of marketing.

eshunal or eshanul or captain wum whatever must be spinning in his Real Madrid themed race car bed this morning.

On the contrary, I think it is a valid source of information - it is of course not fool proof but nevertheless more reliable than 'news' by some of the journalists out there. I remember that last year also, the club photographer started following the new signings before they were officially announced. Similarly there was something about the club tailor also!

Its not deliberate action by the club like you assume but more a consequence of the preparation around announcing a new transfer. Obviously the club would keep its major sponsors in loop about new signings such that they can coordinate their marketing actions along with the club. And it doesn't get any bigger than Pogba.

They didnt really fight back. Honestly the fans dont care about this appeasement. If they had sold Pogba the day before they signed Higuain, they cant and wont do anything about it. What are they going to start a riot if their club had to sell one player to get another?

To be fair fans in Italy have rioted in the past to show their displeasure at a club selling one of their best players.

No we were in a title race, and Fergie didn't want to take the risk. Fergie said plenty of times in interviews he was going to give Pogba a chance and more playing time. But in the run in for the title, he just didn't seem to want to risk it.

Ok. If you say so.

The Sun taking their dicks out and running with this. Basically talking about the deal in the past tense over their back pages this morning.

My lob on is well and truly contained until it's official, lot's of pre ejac jizz flying round the caf right now...
steady on fellow muppets*

*Apologies for the profound effect Eshanul has had on me.

This is all looking weirdly positive, I've never been involved in a saga like this before, it's actually almost a let down thinking I'm not going to feel that crushing defeat that only failure can bring.
Any bets on what type of development is going to cause meltdown next? Maybe he's spotted at the church of Ronaldo?

The article starts with;
Meanwhile, Zidane still hopes to have Pogba to Real. At least that's what he says. "Until August 31 it can happen" - says Zizou according to Unitidi. Everyone likes Pogba, a great player and when you are Real you always want the best. But today he is not of Madrid, he is of Juventus. Difficult to think that Real can beat the Special One to the Frenchman.

To make things perfect after Barca announcing Gomes and United announcing Pogba for Real to announce the signing of Sissoko...

Honestly, I would have been pissed if I were pogba (regarding his first move to Juve), in a 20/20 hindsight he is that good to demand a starting place, or at the very least some game time ahead of Park/Rafael/Giggs in the midfield. He starts immidiately upon joining JUVE iirc, so it's not like he's not ready.

You can make a case if he's just another Cleverly, but a guy with his talent getting overlooked....

Because the social media rep was browsing on twitter and saw a flood of reports about Pogba to United and decided to follow him for the craic.

It's a far more likely scenario than the other faniciful theories floating around. Anyway this is the last I'm going to say on it, I don't think it deserves further discussion.

Pogba is coming but the fuss made out of the likes of Chevrolet following him on Twitter is idiotic in the extreme. As if Chevrolet's social media team have an inside track on the deal... get a grip ffs and actually try to use the thing inside your head called a brain.
Chevy will know more than you think. Being a major sponsor they will be told for future marketing promos etc.

Why would a car manufacturer, which happens to be one of our major sponsors follow a high profile footballer amidst a high profile transfer saga involving us? I think what would be idiotic is for their media team to do so without reason. One would think a major plc would be more media savvy than that.

MUTV should do one of those documentaries about the players that kept Pogba out (Ando, Giggs, Cleverley, Fletcher) and were they are now

Fletcher was ill for most of the 2011-12 season so he wasn't exactly keeping Pogba out of the side.

Chevrolet also follow Neymar, Bale and Ronaldo. We're not signing any of them soon. Don't read too much into them following Pogba.

But they aren't. The twitter guys job is to get twitter followers and retweets with the company name on. The exception to that if they say something so dangerous or damaging the company image that it ends up becoming a PR problem. Following Pogba, even for no valid commercial reason, isn't a PR problem.

Of course if Pogba's wife/girlfriend/boyfriend/mother/cat start following Coleen Rooney that would be an entirely different matter.

Now, in terms of the league title, and in respect of LvG and the funny moments he gave us. WE GO FOR IT! What a transfer window so far.

It's just gone 8.30. We must be due some muppet-deflating gossip from AS right about now. Something totally ridiculous to match their agenda up to now. "Pogba wipes arse with United shirt whilst high fiving Perez". Any minute now.

Do people think he genuinely has a passion for the club (after all, no CL etc.) or that he's a massive money grabber? I have to say that I can't see any real reason for him to return to us apart from really, really wanting to. He could definitely get the money elsewhere.

Actually I think we are offering him the highest wages from clubs reportedly interested in Pogba the past year or so.

Whether he signs or not it's generated a lot of attention for them. So it would be pretty smart of them to do it.

One of the earliest reports from L'Equipe, which Sport Witness found an interesting tidbit, was the journo that interviewed pogba before the euro's wrote an article on our pogba chase, and in said article claimed pogba was interested in Jose's project and wanted to "complete the circle" by returning to MUFC.

This was WAAAAY back at the beginning of the saga. I think it's a passion for the club, but we greased the wheels by dumping money on him

What say a mammoth asteroid hits planet earth the moment he signs on the dotted line? Unlikely, so let's stay positive. I'm more worried about my bottom right now.

Have you got a Twitter source for this alleged asteroid?

Meanwhile AS report that Real Madrid continue to work "subtly" on signing Pogba, but won't pay out the money being asked by Juve or Raiola. A subtle and cunning plan is the minimum requirement I would think.
