That Italian guy who is a pundit on CL nights on BT Sport was just on TalkSport and said "Pogba to Utd is done. Everyone in Italy now talks about who else Juve will bring in to replace him rather than if he is joining Utd."

It's done and dusted.

I would think they've already taken care of this by getting Pjanic, and splashing out the rest on Higuain.

When your nt gets to the final, you deserved an extra holiday.

It's not like he's not match fit, he practically plays in high profile match while everyone is smoking and eating pies

Alright, but it everything else is settled and agreed, why not announce his signing "pending a medical"?

Not sure mate I didn't catch who it was but his voice sounded exactly like the BT Sport bloke.

Well Horncastle is English- did he sound italian or english? Last time a bt presenter said a deal to utd was done it was andy brassel with Renato Sanches- we know how that turned out :nervous:

The appropriate fate of this thread, regardless of what happens, and regardless of how big it gets, is that it does not end up in the classics. It clearly doesn't deserve it. It's the thread equivalent of...I don't know. But something vast, mildly annoying, artificial in every sense, and basically just shite.

U2 – it's the thread equivalent of U2.

Nah. It ain't as bad as all that. And neither are U2 for that matter (at least not pre Pop anyway).

Assuming we do sign him, will be interesting how quickly we bring him into the first 11. LVG would've waited for 'match rhythm' but I don't see Jose doing that.

Also, I wonder how long before we switch to 4-3-3. I'm certain it will happen some point before x-mas.

It's how we've always done it. It was Moyes who had loose lips and thought that linking us with megastars would some how give him kudos.

Yeah Dave was leaking all sorts to the press. Wouldn't surprise me if it was him who leaked the news of his own sacking.

Remember how discreet united kept Schneiderlin before announcing him. Just saying.

Its a bit easier keeping that one quiet.

Anyway, this thread is cringeworthy

I can't wait for this to be officially announced.

I could see someone determining when to release it based on the amount of buzz this will get. Maybe right after the CS or next Monday around 6.

I think he'll work wonders for our midfield. He's athletic, strong, tall, solid passer, great dribbler. He could easily be a 6,8 or 10 if need be.

I bet he could learn a lot from BFS and Carrick so I hope they both stay too...

Atleast this post has a hint of football discussion in it

Absolutely love those getting on their high horses about how the thread has descended to being a bit silly, the majority is tongue in cheek and a bit of fun!

Does anyone know why United have basically cut the media out of any transfer news? Since 2014, nearly all our transfers have been done in secrecy from the English press point of view.

Duncan Castles seems to have insight based on the fact that he is in bed with Mourinhos camp, everyone else is clueless.
I think its gone the exact opposite. We used to be far more tight lipped

Woody likes to leak a lot. Well he did in previous summers. Last summers hilarious Neymar and Muller pursuits. And before that the likes of Fabregas and the headline "Woody leaves on urgent transfer business" being a funny one too. The guy was a fecking clown who finally seems to calmed down a tad.

Since Moyes left (and maybe Ferdinand too), very few stories have been leaked to the English media.

Of all our transfers, English media had very little to no knowledge of any transfers. Most news came from di marzio or bouhafsi or guys like that

I think people have overly-fond memories of previous transfer threads. I'm pretty sure Thiago and Di Maria weren't really much different to this, and they made the classics.

a lot of our intentions were leaked. No doubts (I just listed some in my post)

Most likely in the hope to sell a few season tickets

For all the muppets i've checked flightradar and there have been no private jets into Manchester from the states since last night. The helicopter didn't take the route shown in this thread but appeared to go South and land in Turnmoss playing fields. After that it may have gone to Carrington.

Interestingly the Leicester City helipcopter flew into Farnborough this morning then boarded a private jet to Manchester. Possibly could be them in the helicopter.
Picking up Fellaini?

Jeez, are you some kind of flightradar guru? How do you find out all that stuff? (Or is this all just bull?)

I've been away during the day and it seems like something has happened.
Could anyone fill me in so I don't have to go through all 30+ pages?
Incorrect I'm afraid, nothing has happened just lots more muppetry.

You can't spend £100m on a player and not have a plan in place for him to walk into your team straight away. If he's coming and it's sorted then Jose knows and knows exactly how/where he's going to play. Of course he needs training time with the team and to get his fitness back up after a holiday, so not gonna be there for Sunday (god only knows if it'll even be confirmed by then) but you'd think we'd see him before long, even if it wasn't a full 90 mins at first.

This is the credibility list a norwegian transfer site use on English newspapers/sources:

1 The Times, 2 BBC, 3 The Independent, 4 Daily Telegraph, 5 The Guardian, 6 Sky Sports , 7 Daily Mail, 8 Talksport, 9 Daily Mirror, 10 The Sun, 11 Daily Express, 12 Daily Star
BBC are unquestionably more reliable than the Times

Would be an insanely stupid move by the Telegraph to stick their neck out by claiming that it's getting announced today if there's no truth to it. No need for them to risk looking daft for a claim like that - and we all know he's coming sooner or later already. I think he's announced later.

Where have they said this?

What like all the other's who have said similar? Papers / Journo's don't care about integrity anymore, it's about being able to say "we broke the news first".

Pogba won't happen until Monday IMO.

Is it though? I don't think the Telegraph's credibility will hinge on whether or not they are 100% accurate on the Paul Pogba signing date. However, I'm sure they've already benefited from throwing out that entirely plausible speculation. It's transfer business, inaccuracy and half-truths are part of the game.

FWIW I agree that today's the Pogday!

Di Marzio's 48 hrs were misinterpreted. He never claimed that it was being announced in 48 hrs - just that it was done in 48 hrs. And besides Marca/AS, maybe the Sun and maybe a few other extremely unreliable outlets, I don't think any paper has actually made any claims about when it's going to be announced. And as shit as the Telegraph might be, it's far more reputable than the other papers I mentioned.

I think it's getting announced today, but on the other hand it wouldn't exactly surprise me if it isn't.

I think the deal is already "DONE" but we won't announce it until Pogba is in the country, able to show him off with the shirt etc. It's a world record fee, they want it to be a big grand show.

Didn't Sky Sports say he's due in Manchester on Saturday and the deal is expected to be announced Monday?
