Henrikh Mkhitaryan is not a punt. Just because posters don't overly recognise the name or haven't seen many of his games doesn't deny the fact that he has proven his technical and goal scoring ability in a top European league and top European competitions.

All signings are punts to some degree. There is a degree of risk in them all.

A pacy right winger with bags of potential, a dynamic attacking midfielder who we could nurture/rotate and lasts years player of the season in Kante. Great business by our rivals in my opinion.

Instead we've a 34 year old striker, a raw CB and a bit of a punt in Miki. And NO sign of Pogba, who I don't rate anyway.

:wenger: :wenger: :wenger:

He said the deal will be done with in 48 hours did he not?? And that imo is Paul Pogba at carrington and announced as a Manchester United player am I right?

On the second part, I don't think that he ever said something like that.

U2 – it's the thread equivalent of U2.

It's just occurred to me what act this saga actually reminds me of... a septuagenarian James Brown when I saw him at Glastonbury in 04.

It was basically about half an hour of his band banging out solid grooves, while the backing singers kept up a chorus of "Guess who's coming... everybody say James Brown... here comes the Gofather..." etc, with no sign of the man himself.

He eventually shuffled on for about 15 minutes and looked a bit like he might put his hip out every time he tried a move. I just hope Pogba is more mobile.

No, I didn't read deal done as deal announced. I'll give you that he perhaps left it a little ambiguous though.

So now we are all convinced Miki is going to be a rip roaring success are we? This place.

He never said that. Complete strawman on your part there. It's you that is making extreme statements be describing him as a punt.

No. Mkhitaryan was done for quite a while. It took us a few days to announce he signed after Dortmund did.

He said the deal "could" be done in 48 hrs.

Up to the reader to take in whatever way they want. Some took it as "Signed pending medical". Some others "Medical done in LA, signing also done". Some others took it as "Agreement in principle is done"

A punt on Micki? Do you even watch football? Honestly, you have some of the worst posts on this forum by far.

In that case we could all be journalists!

I could issue a tweet saying that the world "could" end in 48 hours.

That's not his fault though, the deal could be done but technically United could announce it at anytime that's out of Di Marzio's hands.

No. Second part is deal official. Deal done means the clubs and the player have agreed deal in principle. Since then the payment structures and legalities have been sorted. Now signtures will be done. Then medical etc.

We should make him sign the damn contract before our community shield game. He might change his mind if he watches us playing like we did against everton.
Yeah those friendly games matter so much. I would hope he isn't naïve enough to actually take stock in them.

You can of course. But if your tweets are not mostly right, people wont believe you. If Di Marzio starts putting nonsense more often, people will start ignoring him too.

pogba supposedly gave Drake a juve shirt. Juve fans celebrating that this means he's staying.:lol::lol::wenger::wenger:

To those who believe that Pogba isn't worth £100M in today's market, what would you want him to do to prove his worth?

Win the PL as a top assistant? Ballon d'Or nominee within the next few years? PL Player of the Season?

Or is it a case of denying that no player is worth £100M?

The issue here is that people assumed that the deal should be done meant it would be official which was never the case. Up to that point there was no agreement yet between the clubs. What Di Marzio said was right. Within those 48 hours an agreement was reached between the clubs. Which is considered a 'done deal' unless something horribly goes wrong.

So if we sign him, we have already wasted the money.
Do you do this on every signing or is it just Pogba?

Have you seen me in any other thread, ever, arguing against a transfer? Ever? No I don't do this in every thread. I am vehemently against the Pogba transfer and even moreso when I see the likes of Sane, Kante and Gundongan moving clubs for a third of the price we are prepared to pay for our ex-youth team player. Its really not that an unusual position to take. To go against the muppetry.

So now we are all convinced Miki is going to be a rip roaring success are we? This place.

So you're convinced Gundogan and Sane will be better, even though Mkhi out played them in the same league and even in the same team last season.

He's not worth 100m
Whilst I don't care since its not my money people shouldn't kid themselves
The potential revenue stream for the Champions League next season will exceed €100mil. If Pogba is the difference in us qualifying and helps us towards the Premier league title amongst our cups, whilst also significantly improving the club's brand, then yes, he is worth it.

Pfft, anyone can use logic to prove a point.

Of course it is done. Just a matter of time now till this is announced. There is no way Juve would have payed 75m for Higuain if this deal didn't go through. That's the most they have payed for a player in history.
I must admit I was shocked Juve paid that much, but since then I've been confirdent Pogba is done dealio

But to decide the money is waste or not, we need to see how he plays and the impact he would make in the team. If it is a good return of investment, then 3 years down the line, I hardly think anyone would care if the money was huge.
And dont forget that when Utd approaches teams for players, the player prices automatically shoot up.

I had created a thread down in the newbs on the same topic and I did not quote any of your posts there from the old thread - Not sure if that's a good sign or not

To be fair to @Carl, he's only got 18 posts in this thread which in comparison sounds like not caring much really.

To be fair, at the time Nick Powell had just signed for us after player 50+ games in League 2, and arguably being the best player in that league that season, and Pogba had just left after playing mostly in our reserves and his performances being quite inconsistant.

So to me, yeah Nick Powell did look the better prospect.

The one that annoys me the most is a sensationalist headline, with the article written "according to reports." They're reporting the reports, no actual news has happened, for which reporting is their job.

The Sun yesterday ran with 'PAUL POGBA FINALLY COMPLETES WORLD RECORD MOVE...' then in the article it just said well, not yet but according to reports it won't be long. There should be some kind of code for this sort of shit, you wouldn't get away with it in other industries.

Imagine if the whole "blah blah"-campaign from Adidas was directed at us all along. And 'don't believe everything you read' was referring to the Pogba to us-connection. Would be terrible if he decided to stay at this point.

Literally no one has said that.

A punt on Micki? Do you even watch football? Honestly, you have some of the worst posts on this forum by far.

I'm being laughed out of town for having the temerity to suggest that Miki might be a 'bit of a punt'. From which I would infer you guys either think I'm crazy, don't watch football and/or (the most likely reason) you all think Miki is going to be a guaranteed 5 star hit the ground running success for United. Am really really delighted you are all so sure of him. Same way as you were all so sure of the 'best player in the Bundesliga' four years ago, I think his name was Kagawa?

Whether or which. The reality is, and this is back to my original point, the money we are prepared to spend on Pogba could be better spent.

I'd rather have him arrive properly rested and miss a few games than get here a few weeks back having barely had any break at all meaning he'll be playing almost two years without downtime.

Yeah that makes sense. I've just got a bit obsessed with the importance of a good start to Mourinho's career at United. After all the shit he went through at Chelsea and our own annus horribilis with Vangle, I'd say confidence is fairly fragile. If we get a decent start, I can see us going from strength to strength. If we drop points early doors, well, it could get ugly...
