Well that was poor. Much worse than Feyenoord
Mourinho has to decide quickly how to set the team up because this is not it
Difficult to select anyone who had a decent game and Rooney gets a lot of stick on here but today he really was woeful

in short, we deserve everything we are getting. play shit player in that position and make him a captain. why not? just don't expect good results after.

Mou is clearly getting it wrong. He needs to drop Rooney, Pogba and Fellaini immediately. And bring the likes of Bastian, Herrera and Schneiderlin back into the fold. If someone's not contributing you drop them, Next game I want to see Depay and Mkhitariyan getting a fair chance.

Wayne Rooney has to go. Simple. Atrocious. Can't have Mata, Rooney, Pogba and Zlatan all on at the same time surely? Badly need Mkhi to come back and hit the ground running. Bailly was terrible today, Smalling too. Need a player like Blind or Carrick who can read the game. Fellaini was okay but still doesn't offer much. Terrible week for us. 6 points off with Leicester coming up, sitting in 6th probably 7th soon.

Saying that, it's early days, we still have all our rivals, bar Man City, to play. We need to sort out this mess.

DDG
Mensah Bailly Smalling Shaw
Blind
Pogba Herrera
Mkhitaryan Zlatan Rashford
We have to change it up, and Martial needs a rest.
This just won't work. You can play one dumb defender without any technical ability, but you can't play two of them. Blind for one of them, Carrick for Blind and it might well work though.

Also, Pogba and Herrera should be swapped. Both of them play better in the opposite sides you put them.

City match i was ok as we played well in the second half and could have easily drawn or won when we consider the fact that we gifted them the first goal. Feyenoord, I don't care about the EL we played a 2nd squad. Today is not acceptable though, I want to blame the players but Mourinho is slipping. We seem void of ideas, no defensive shape, players starting when they shouldn't...it's on him and up to him to change things now.

Question. If things go epically wrong (think worse than Moyes), where do we go if Mourinho got canned?

We were shite. Deserved to lose.

Referee was also shite.

The ball was in play for a whole 50 seconds in that 4 minutes of injury time. The laws of the game with regard to the clock need some serious reform.

So, you wanted more time added on?
If Watford had had another 3 minutes, they'd have got 4.
I am thankful the game ended when it did.

Terrible from start to finish. But I believe we have a good squad and manager to turn this around. Simple fix, get fecking Rooney and Fellaini out of the team for god sake and play others in their proper positions.

We looked good in our first three games. How have we become so awful so quickly?
Personally I don't think you did. Struggled in the first 45 minutes at Bournemouth and was handed the opener with a howler. Southampton were very poor and was a breeze, they've not won a game this season. Albeit a deserved win at Hull, was a late goal and wasn't a great performance in my opinion.

A sign of where the club is at the moment when Rooney can be so so shit and still last 90mins. Not just that, a player like pogba holds his position in the centre circle when we're chasing a goal so that Rooney can do his thing in the attacking third. Cowardly tactics, cowardly man management. Mourinho needs to grow a fecking pair.

Glad it was 3-1 in the end.
The manager has got to put his mark on this side and make some strong decisions.
Fellaini is not good enough to hold on his own.
No balance.

We are a mess. No leaders, no creativity, far too many average players still lingering around the squad. Rooney is nowhere near good enough to be starting regularly for us, let alone being fecking captain. How on earth is Young coming on for us, again he is nowhere near good enough to be in the squad let alone being a viable option as a sub. We didn't get rid of enough cnuts in the summer, bet some of them can't believe they're still at United.

The only thing I can think of is Rooney must have it in his contract that he starts when fit. It has to be, LVG and Mourinho cannot be this dumb, Mourinho has dropped plenty of better players than Rooney for feck all yet he won't drop him. Has to be a deeper reason.

There needs to be an investigation.

Rooney was absolutely terrible and should never be allowed to pull on a United jersey again. As I said in the matchday thread, this was his Gary Neville moment.

Pogba was almost as bad as him and by the looks of it we have once again gotten ripped off in a big transfer.

Zlatan is wasting to many chances, both today and in the derby he had many good chances created for him but his inability to slot them home has cost us at least 2 points in those 2games.

These three players are our top earner and the once that should be setting the standard for the rest of the team but today they where our worst players and this is what happens when your top players don't show up.

1) Fellaini can't cut it beside Pogba. The gulf is class is too obvious. We need a better partner beside him.

2) Ibrahimovic is too slow for the premier league. Can't see how we can be successful with him moving forward. Same with our central players, Rooney and Fellaini are too slow and disjointed to create fluid movements.

3) Michael Oliver is a shaft.

4) We don't have any proper leadership on the pitch.

One is an empty kit, and one is injured.

Mentally weak!

3 years of failure is hard to forget!

It doesn't feel like Mourinho knows where to play Pogba.

People were all too willing to overlook what happened with Jose and Chelsea last season without actually being told what happened. The man doesnt look happy to me even when he got this job. I personally think his head isnt in the game and its a combination of that and his system doesnt work anymore. He will rely on his usual crutch of blaming the refs here in this interview coming up and its not what I want to hear.

Load of tosh, any other big club would have put 4 goals past Watford today, we're just rubbish.
You can't take only us as an example. City and Pool are getting impressive wins. Takes time for all teams in the start of the season. That said we are being shit at the moment, and it's not difficult to understand giving we still have Valencia, Rooney, Fellaini in the team with y(Y)oung and (naturally) unstable wingers.

Seriously when Miki is back, please drop Rooney. We need Herrara or Carrick in midfield to control it. Pogba needs more discipline, I think he is offering nothing much. He can't attack and defend. I hope we start winning soon. This is dire football now.

Another observation.

Smalling + Bailly = conceded 4 goals in 2 games, 100% loss percentage.

I think it's time for Blind to return. The last 2 games have been a disaster.

I find it really strange that other teams with new managers can get going so quickly whilst we take some time to gel and get used to the new approach introduced by the new manager. It's not like we have that much of a squad turnover anyways. Most of the players we play are from van Gaal's era, so why is it that the players still look like they don't understand each other?

We completely lost it in the first half when our passing was too sloppy and our movement almost nonexistent. It's as if the players aren't sure about what the player on the ball will do, so they just stick to their area and hope for the best. Rashford and Pogba seem to be the only ones who are willing to get themselves available for the ball or move around to stretch the opposition, but the rest don't seem to want to do that. Too often have I seen our players get double-teamed/isolated by the opposition, and that's down to a lack of understanding between the players.

This isn't something new, either. It's been happening ever since Sir Alex left the club: the players just don't adjust to the new manager's methods as quickly as players do for other teams.

If Rooney starts the next match then maybe all the people saying he has a clause in his contract could be right
He cannot start the next match after a performance like this, it just doesn't compute....

We looked good in our first three games. How have we become so awful so quickly?
That's because we didn't. People were just imagining things and applying mental gymnastics to make themselves feel better after the disappointments of the past 3 years. Against Bournemouth, we needed a clanger from their captain to open the scoring and vs Southampton, we were sitting off them defending deep with less possession at bloody Old Trafford yet people somehow thought that was indicative of quality.

I'm not even going to both stewing this performance (or the last two) over.

We were worryingly poor today. We're being sapped of confidence. Again.

One thing I would say about those pointing the finger at Mourinho. He can't account for individuals making the most basic of errors.

Bad week, move on.

i've absolutely no complaints with Zlatan. 5 goals in 7 games and almost scored a magnificent header today.

Goal came from Zlatan dropping deep to pick it up, Rashford jumps on a chance while Rooney does feck all and complains with his hands up. Lots of problems but removing Rooney and installing a proper midfield will help.

Carrick needs to be the DM with Pogba and Herrera/Fellaini ahead. Not that Fellaini did much wrong today while the game was still competitive but when he is the deepest midfielder his passing ability doesn't compare to Carrick.

our squad is not top drawer. but I refuse to believe we don't have enough about us to play a reasonably decent passing game Watford looked technically better than us today ffs. Get carrick/basti in there, get micki integrated asap, sell rooney, fix martial and jobs a good 'un

This. I said this last year, that Mourinho doesn't look like the old Mourinho anymore. And he still doesn't.

Think he might be done as a top tier manager.

I thought we were better than THIS after the first 3 games & was quite optimistic but now...

The attacking coordination is worse than the second half of last season. Rooney/Zlatan will be fine though, if we're happy with finishing about 10th.

And Michael fecking Oliver, 45% of his decisions are shit, and 45% are a bit of a surprise. He's fecking useless.

We have a set of players who are guaranteed to start no matter how they perform. It has been that way for years now. Rooney needs to be dropped. I would push Pogba forward and if no response in next game he would be dropped. Our fullbacks have been some of our better performing players and they get subbed off yet Rooney played a full 90. It is clear that no manager has the power to drop Rooney. So then start him on the left if he absolutely has to play. We are perhaps the slowest team in attack in the league. It is time for wholesale changes. Play the youth team or something. Something has to give.
