And there lies the problem, if he votes for Trump and complains about Trump, you will remind him that he is responsible. If he votes for Clinton and complains about Clinton, you will remind him that he is responsible. And if he decides to not vote because he hates both candidates you will remind him that he is responsible. You put him in a situation where he has to shut up and take it.
In reality, he isn't responsible because electors don't really have the choice of the candidates. In a proper Democracy, when abstention/blank vote wins, the other candidates should be eliminated and a new election should occur but that's too complicated from a logistic standpoint.
Democracy puts him in that situation. He has a vote and should use to it try and achieve what he thinks is the best outcome for his country.
