It's not about controversial or not - it implies every Muslim in the world who has had a drink is a bad Muslim. So are you saying that any Christian who does something that the Bible says not to do is a bad Christian? That isn't really how religion works.

Not really. As the whole idea is that only one man is perfect. So by very definition, everyone who isn't that man, isn't perfect, as they can't follow all the rules.

I've never understood why rich people take a chance with drink-driving. He could pay for a driver for the night. Mind you, if he's found guilty he'll probably have to pay for a full-time driver.
Even if you're not rich, if you can't afford to get home by taxi, don't buy the extra pint at the pub!
Wouldn't surprise me if he carried on driving, I can remember Tevez doing this when he was banned. Some of these footballers aren't the brightest people around.
Think tavez got done for driving without a license not drink driving.

EDIT: Might be because how do you define drunk? He may have had a drink but not been drunk for example.
