Is Shaw still injured? If not, then that's a huge vote of no confidence from Jose. Rojo at leftback.

Good midfield; shite attack. Having said it, still expect Lingard and Rashford to impress with some direct statistical input
Shaw is on the bench but I don't think he has even played reserve football. Mourinho reluctant to put players right back in the starting lineup after a long period out.

Think I got like 3 points on the team prediction league.
Expected a much changed team, got that wrong then.

    Milestone
Congrats to Ander who makes his 100th appearance for United tonight.

If Mourinho thinks Martial isn't playing well enough (and he hasn't been playing anywhere near as welll as he can), why on earth woould he pick him for a Cup semi final?

He might have a knock too so reading anything into it is ridiculous really

    No Martial :(
    Rojo at LB :nervous:
Pogba, Carrick and Ibra start again in a game we're already leading 2-0 :wenger:

Other than that, a very strong team. Shows how much Mourinho wants to reach the final.

On a side-note, is that a 4-4-2 diamond I see? Lingard at the tip, Carrick at the base and Pogba/ Herrera left and right. Rashford playing up top with Ibra.

That's what it looks like to me.

Seeing Lingard in there again makes me feel ill.

I have to trust Mourinho knows what he's doing with Martial (even though his record leaves me a bit suspicious), but I can understand if he feels Martial is not up for it. It's just really frustrating that we keep finding another problem, after we seemingly solve the previous one. Martial - Ibra - Mkhi was supposed to be our front 3, now that dynamic is being lost. We're already struggling in front of goal, and we really need our team to gel together to try and help fix that. Constant changes just don't help.

It won't affect us in this match though. 2-0 my prediction to Utd.

There is no reason to second guess the decision to leave out Martial. Could be a number of reasons for doing so; injury, form, sickness, peronsal stuff, resting, tactics etc. A conflict is just among many possible reasons and we have no clue really.

Pogba, Carrick and Ibra start again in a game we're already leading 2-0 ??????

    WHY !

Jose seems to prefer Rashford on the wing

    No Martial I see:rolleyes:

Cant wait for him to run inside with the ball, pass it square then leg it off in a random direction. Rinse and repeate. Sick of it as well, even playing against these lot.

So now Martial has gone from being our best attacker last season to behind Mickey, Mata, Lingard and Rashford in the pecking order on the wings.

    Sad times.

The optimistic side of me is hoping Mourinho is resting him for him to come back refreshed, but he's been resting all fecking season.

... Yeah, its a strange one.

I doubt it, considering that Rashford was mainly played on the left when Ibra was in the team and Lingard on the right. Plus, with Darmian and Rojo as fullbacks, when someone wingers to create width. I think it will be the usual 433.

Kill it off early I'm guessing. We're at home against Wigan this weekend so we can afford to rest players then.

Surely it makes more sense to rest players in a game we're leading 2-0 over an FA Cup tie at 0-0?

I'll just have to trust Mourinho on this one.

Yeah, that makes sense as well.

Nah. A final is at stake tonight, whereas the Wigan match is "just" the 4th round, at OT to boot. To win the CC in February would be a great boost, both for Mourinho and for the team.

    A surprise in Jose's team
Biggest surprise for me with United XI is that Ibrahimovic is playing and Rooney is on the bench. Would have thought after record breaking goal vs Stoke Rooney’s confidence would be sky high and itching for more. Conversely Ibrahimovic hasn’t been brilliant of late. But another clear indication of the pecking order now up front.

Much bigger chance of winning the League Cup though. Imagine if we put out a weak team and go 1-0 down early on? Would be awful.

True. Hopefully we can put the tie to bed before HT and get Ibra, Carrick and Pogba off.

Luckily, TFM and Shaw are on the bench and can get some minutes under their belts.
