Champions League Round of 16 (14th Feb - 15th Mar)

Madrid tried bidding for him as soon as Ancelotti arrived, PSG say he's not for sale and as he signed a new contract at PSG last summer the chances are he's happy where he is. The chances are that if we've asked, we got exactly the same null reaction as them.

Fair enough, but I have hardly seen any speculations even when there was that situation with him delaying signing his new contract. You know how many speculations circle around big players whenever there is anything suspect about whether they will sign new contract at their clubs.

Interesting to know Barca is playing so poorly according to the group. Do you think it has to do the fact that their last match was played at half/quarter speed and mentally, the horrific injury to Vidal has put them back tonight? They could just be saving for a second half goal and rip PSG apart at home?

What a shite take.

PSG has said he is not for sale and Veratti isn't going to push for a transfer. His agent just last month said he doesn't want to leave.. So what the feck would be the point in going for him?

Yeah, PSG will never sell him and he looks to be fully into the project there. It makes perfect sense too, if he wins the CL with PSG he will be a far bigger legend and more loved in Paris than he would ever be in Madrid. Personally I like that he seems interested more in building something new than just going to RM or Barca. For CL to get more exciting, I am rooting for Barca and RM to fall off like the mid 2000s.

Who said anything about people in general not rating him?

Calm the feck down, I wasn't bashing any players, I was bashing transfer policy of big clubs such as United and Real Madrid.

Less realistic transfers have happened over the last few years. Just last summer both Ibra and Luiz left PSG.

Less realistic? Ibra was leaving on a free and Luiz wanted out. Verrati is the jewel in their crown.

Ibra was out of contract :smirk: Luiz wanted to leave.

Well I am aware of that, but year or so earlier no one would have guessed that. Same for di Maria while he was at Madrid, few other examples too.

.

If there's a chance, every big club would go for him and they probably are whatever the price. The transfer policy is dictated by plenty of things but most importantly player quality. And Verratti has plenty of that. As mentioned by others, he is untouchable according to PSG and they don't bend over. Plus the player himself needs to push for a move which isn't the case at the moment. But as you mention less likely transfers have happened and he might leave one day as well.

Andre Gomes is terrible. How is he starting ahead of Rakitic?

Cavani is a fraud as well. Awful player who'll score enough against minnows to pad his stats and portray him as a 'top' striker.

How is it possible Dortmund is losing this match?

Cavani is quite a big weak link tonight.

I didn't say those two were less realistic transfers, I just named them as an example of big names that left PSG.

What if Veratti wishes to go to Madrid next summer?

They're quite an overrated team, they aren't nearly as good as most think.

They are overrated but that was not my point. They had 4 incredible chances to score in the first half. Could be 3 or 4 up and now are losing in Benfica's first chance :wenger:

Didnt Veratti said he would be open to leaving PSG but if its Barca?

Messi's bigger than Barcelona. Any other player that put in a performance like he has so far would've been hauled off at/ before half time.

Does not look interested one bit. Has been pedestrian all game.

Then it can happen. Until now he has shown no interest of leaving. He said he wants to win a CL with PSG, though he recently said 'nobody can say no to Barcelona', or something like that.

I do like The Guardian's MBM

Andres Iniesta mis-controls and puts the ball out of play for a PSG throw-in. No, really - Andres Iniesta mis-controls and puts the ball out of play for a PSG throw-in. These are not alternate facts. This is not fake news. Andres Iniesta’s first touch has just let him down.
