What he said.Never thought he was "The Special One". He always was and will be a self serving douche. Though the douche wins trophies and that is why we hired him. We needed someone with the pedigree and the personality to take us back to where we belong.
Besides the delusional Jose fans, no one thought we would challenge for the title this year; or that we were grand because we signed "The best player each from France, Germany and Italy". The challenge this year is to get back to the champions league and for Jose to assess the squad while showing improvement. I think he is on course to do that. We have already won the league cup, have an excellent chance to win Europa and we have kept up with other teams for a top 4 spot. Pool is third with 60 points having played 2 extra games, City are 4 points ahead having played an extra game, and we are level on points with Arsenal. We aren't really that far behind.
I have gotten frustrated too with our defensive style of play post Christmas, the six at the back in games, the stalled progress of Martial and Shaw, the constant moaning and bitching, the mad substitutions like keeping Fellaini against a parked bus and replacing Mkhi with Rooney, or the spouting of alternative facts like 'people are critical of Pogba because of the money he earns'; but then I remember that I made a Faustian deal when I accepted Jose as my football manager. This all comes with the territory and is pretty standard procedure with him. He did similar things at Chelsea or at Real or at Inter or Chelsea before that. His title winning Chelsea team the year before last season performed similarly to us post Christmas. They went into their shell, become ultra-defensive post the Spurs loss and Jose continued with his nonsense. The major difference was that at Chelsea Jose had the goal scorers who could get him that crucial goal and the midfield and defense that helped him maintain that lead to win games. Anyone remember our game at Stamford Bridge when we had 75% something possession and lost 1-0?
He isn't going to be the manager who is going to massively improve our football like a Poch or a Pep or a Klopp could. Though he is going to improve the overall quality of our squad by clearing out the mediocre players and getting the right experienced additions. He did that at Chelsea: made the right acquisitions in the first two seasons, and they reaped the rewards of it the first time and are reaping it for the second time too. We needed that more than anything after the buffoonery of Moyes, VG and Woodie from 2013-2014 to 2015-2016.
Our performances this season are representative of the quality of our squad at disposal. Our fans should be thrilled if along with our league cup win, we are able to win Europa or get a top spot, or both. Good football is for later. It probably will come post Jose.
Three years, I keep telling myself. That's not a long period in the history of the club. Tolerate him for three years and he would win us our first post Fergie league title.
I'm far from 100% convinced he's anything like a trophy guarantee, I think the insane money we have is more of one than Jose, but at the same time I can't think of anyone I'd prefer right now who's available, so will just put up with all the bollocks that comes with Jose's success, just wish people would kep him away from microphones in public.
I'm just surprised that people are surprised.when he said hed rather ten draws and stay undefeated than win 5 and draw 5 was absolutely moronic. Ridiculous mentality
