Top 4 race 2016/17

Not enough goals - what are our best wins this season & how many good ones are there?

(at home especially)

It's pathetic really. With Zlatan, without Zlatan, just looks the same.

It's funny but there is a chance still, though I don't think we'll make it. Yes we have tough fixtures, but even if we get 1 draw and 1 loss from the arsenal and Spurs games, beat Palace and lets say draw away to Southampton, that's us on 70 points.

Liverpool have 2 tough away games to Watford and West Ham, a tough home game against Southampton (they usually struggle), and then an easy win vs Middlesbrough (probably). A lot depends on the monday result, but if they lose that, then they'll get very nervous. Problem is that we've let Arsenal in with a chance to go ahead of us now, and with them in the fa cup final, they'll probably take that chance. Could yet come down to goal differential between Liverpool, us and Arsenal (which we'll lose out on again), while City's fixtures are probably easy enough to get them 3rd.

Good joke text into BBC:

Race to avoid fourth is hotting up. United took advantage dropping points earlier but City have responded by falling behind...

Why some of you guys are so obsessed with top four is beyond me.
We have a truly chance to CL spot next year winning a trophy (and what a trophy... We could have all the 3 european cups). Tbh I'm not so confident right now for all these injuries.

The universe is conspiring to give Arsenal their top 4 spot again. I can't believe I doubted it for a moment.

City are in a tricky situation.
Their home form is as bad as ours, they struggle v packed defences and their next 3 games are at home v Palace, Leicester and West Brom.
What a strange season.

Wish City and Liverpool would just put it to bed so we can start resting players in the league

Arsenal has been given a lifeline to get back into top 4. Massive game for Arsenal. Beat Spurs and they are right back in the mix for top 4. You can't make this up.

The pressure for them is much higher right now too, as they have no potential lifeline in the Europa League. Also no excuses in terms of fatigue.

A win would have been great for our chances but will we be able to keep Arsenal, Tottenham and Southampton out with our current injury ravaged defense. We could really struggle in all those games, making the dropped points today a moot point. We must go all out for the EL now.

This, I wouldn't be opposed to Jose playing a reserve team in the remaining league fixtures.

Regardless of today, we needed to be in the top 4 with a little gap going into our next 2 games, not just squeezing into the top 4.

I said when we drew v Hull at home when we had the chance to go into the top 4, we won't finish in the top 4. It was never about squeezing into the top 4 late on, not with our run in.

1 point separating 3rd,4th and 5th. Liverpool and city GD is the same (2 better than United).
Arsenal have 2 games in hand. If they win both, (2-0) they can go 66 points (with +28 GD) - same as Liverpool and City

It's been a result too far out of reach for months. The way this season has gone it wouldn't surprise me if we go and win all 4 games to the end of the season but still ultimately miss out.

Frustrating as feck not to win tonight but I can't help myself believing third is quite doable. Watch Pool bottle tomorrow too.

City and Pool are trolling us on purpose.

Keeping us in the hunt so we keep playing our players in the PL and they keep getting injured.

Top trolling.

We keep accepting it's over and then putting about 2 wins together and we're back in for it. It's because the teams we are chasing are utter shite. We only have ourselves to blame with these complete choke draws. Liverpool have been there to be overtook for a while.

We can't feck the Europa League now.

It must be frustrating as hell being a City or Liverpool supporter. They've been ahead of us all season, yet we're still right on their tails despite all of our dropped points. I wouldn't be surprised if one of them cracks in the final couple of games and watches us hobble past them on the very last day.

Come on arsenal 4 red cards for you and then our reserves to beat you next week.

If we don't win tomorrow, we don't deserve it. A 'good weekend' for us means we will feck it up somehow the following day.
Watford lost 4-0 to spurs and half their players on holiday. You have it in the bag. The only difficult game you have left is southampton.
