Post-match discussion

Goodnight caf...I loved our win, thought it would be different to be honest what with our injuries and people coming back from injury against a team who had rested most of their main players over the last six weeks to concentrate all their efforts on this cup. Great performance and the team worked hard...so glad they don't, or hope they don't, read some of the shite on here. It would make any player depressed.....

Some of the moaners need to take a look.

Mourinho is as angry with us about our finishing! He will certainly sort this in the summer. As it is though we are where we are so why not get behind the team instead of moaning.
Some are in their comfort zone when moaning.

I think we should rest a few against Arsenal. Sit back and counter.

Very professional result, with Pogba, Rash, Blind, & Valencia coming in for honors. Props to Lingard as well, but sometimes he needs to put more chances away. Could've easily been 2 or more goals.

Performance was almost LVG-esque. Not in a bad way, but more controlling/suffocating way. Get the 1-0 away win with no muss or fuss.

Mhki did well going forward, but seemed a bit missing on defense. Seemed a few of their chances came when didn't track back enough.

Herrera seemed anonymous, but definitely sat back further than normal and shielded the defense well.

Fellainj fit this adversary & allowed him to boss upper midfield. YC was a bit harsh, but he definitely was a thorn in their side.

Of course it's an advantage as if Celta score it means we aren't chasing with the need to get two.

It's an advantage because it means one goal for Celta doesn't have us chasing two to go through.

1-0 away from home is better than 0-0 away from home. But there's no result at OT from which we benefit from having scored an away goal.

If the away goal rule didn't exist, we'd be in a better position in the tie than we are now.

Totally agree. The away goal rule makes it nervy IMO.

I know..I can't believe this place sometimes. We've won away from home in Europe and people are moan moan moan moan......jeez.
I didnt look in here. Its always the same. Good on you for complaining though

Every single person who ever laughed at United for paying so much for Pogba will admit their folly in two or three seasons from now. That lad is a genius.

Stewart Gardner  wtf?

Should have been at least 2-0 to us. Lingarrd had two really good opportunities and one half chance. Micky T had a good chance although the angle was hard.
That angle wasn't hard. A class player should be burying that.

I see people on here being angered by moaners. These moaners are like weeds in a garden. Most are clueless, and its typical internet stuff, either trolls, or kids or clueless or whatever. Liberal use of the Ignore button works pretty well for me I find. Good result, excellent performance.

Great result. I would've easily settled for that pre match. My only concern with this current United team is upfront (especially without Ibra). We don't seem to have s dominant striker who will score >60% of chances he gets in the box. I love Rashford and think he is immensly talented but we need an in and out striker who can finish as well as anyone on europe.

Stewart Gardner is a straight up thug:lol: Can't wait for the second leg now, surely we'll generate a great atmosphere for it. It's been a long time since we had a genuinely big European tie at Old Trafford (I know it's only Vigo but still... So excited!)

Well said.

Can you pass the details of a good gardener and dig the buggers up?

Good result, should have been more comfortable though which is a frustration (a common one this season). Great Freekick by Rashford. Hopefully nothing serious in his injury.

Good professional display away from home but the finishing in the first half was making me pull my hair out.

Should finish this off next week.

The fecking away goal rule drives people insane. Every single time.

We're a goal up at the beginning of a home fixture. Job's a good 'un. Even if we somehow manage yet another home draw against an inferior team. Bollox to away goals. You only need a one goal advantage of any kind to win.

Some people just can't celebrate wins without thinking too much about the away game and possibilities. It's a great result and anyone would have taken it anytime before the match.

I don't think we'll find any troubles in the 2nd leg game. Celta looks terrible even on their pitch.

We won't win by ''doubling up'' our away goal - which is a subtle & quite good point - a 2nd one would be lots more better. Which I think is your point? maybe...

But the way you say some of your other stuff is erm... 'unclear' - shall we say, :).

edit - yeah, like @Pogue Mahone has just said :D, 1-0 up & more on the way, :D

Didn't think Bailly was excellent tonight, he made at least 3 unnecessary mistakes by my count. He was good but not excellent. Blind (in particular) and Darmian I thought both had very very good games at the back. Valencia dependable as always too.

It was only a trick, that´s it, we have Man Utd. were we wanted, now they feel overconfident we are going to play how we really know. :D

Joking aside, well deserved victory, you were cleary better and could have scored more goals, physically outstanding, Im still wondering if we won one individual duel. Pogba was the "Señor of the ground" here in Vigo.

Anyway, faith is the last thing you lose, I would go with Marcelo Díaz and Fontás, more technical players, instead Tucu and Cabral for the second leg.

Congratulations.

Really surprised at how poor Celta were after all that's been said - if that's them after all that rest and preparation then the manager should implement 24-hour training sessions between now and the second-leg.

Frustrating that we didn't bury them - they can't be that bad again in the second leg, yet we can't risk taking that game even remotely lightly with only 1-0 in the bag.
