Would this suggest that the SNP are likely to lose a few seats in the general, or that their position is stronger as the opposition is now more evenly split?

Minor upside to the election would be the SNP slightly losing their perceived mandate, and slowing down talk of another bloody referendum.

Didn't see any at all where I live (St. Helens) which might explain it.
 
I'm hoping this at least marks the beginning of the end of UKIP reps having to appear on TV.

I'm not repeating media bollocks. It's daft to classify someone earning 70k with someone earning 500k. Furthermore, it's daft politics. I earn just under 70k a year while some of my bosses are in the 500k bracket. We live totally different lives. Labour will never win another election as long as people in that bracket feel they will be victims of their government. I am normally a labour surpporter but voting LD simply because I feel the party represents my views on Europe and I don't think Corbyn cares about it or never did care. Most middle income earners aren't voting based on the referendum, they're voting based on their pockets. There's emerging this illusion that most middle income earners are living the cushy millionaires life which is simply untrue.

I noticed that The Tories have won a couple of seats in Glasgow's poorest areas. I can only assume that they are protestant areas making a union vote?

This is true, yet Corbyn appointed her shadow to the Home Secretary, one of the big three government posts, and this despite knowing her for decades, intimately. Yet Corbyn supporters can't understand why people don't rate him.

Also it makes you wonder what a history degree from Cambridge is worth, going by her, not a lot.
 
She's a bit of a comedy act on This Week with Brillo firing questions at her that she has no idea how to answer. Only Corbyn could promote her to a key job in the shadow cabinet.
 
How can people trust Mayhem May and her rabble on the EU after the first meeting with Juncker that couldn't possibly have gone any worse? His last words to her as he left were 'I'm leaving here feeling ten times more sceptical than I was before'! And people have the gall to call Corbyn inept?!

It's embarrassing that people can't see through their cheap bullshit soundbites and platitudes and recognise the damage they have done and will continue to do. In every city I've been to recently I've never seen so many homeless people. There are foodbanks on the streets two minutes from my house. I volunteer at a community cafe that provides families with massively cheap meals with food donated from locals. There is nothing of substance to the Tories yet people are voting for them in their droves.

As a young person I've never felt more disillusioned with this country, it's government and it's inhabitants. I'm saving some money then I'm getting the feck out.

You really think Corbyn doesn't care about Europe? Really?

Will you concede that millions of people with incomes less than a third of yours (which is the majority of the population) have a very hard time of it - and are very often doing jobs that we all rely on (like in the NHS and public services). Rather than think of yourself as a potential victim of a Labour government, maybe consider that "we are all in it together", and that the burden should not fall most heavily on those struggling the most.

Where have I said others are not struggling? And I made a point of saying that's not why I am not voting labour. If you want to increase taxes, start with the very top. People on 70k a year are not part of the very top. Saying you would increase taxes for middle income workers is daft when you're already bleeding the working class vote.

I think a big part of it is because they've been bombarded by a right wing media that blames immigration for their hardship... the classic "coming over here, taking our jobs, lowering wages, taking our houses" sort of arguments perpetuated by the Daily Heil.

It took many Labour voters in such areas and spurned the growth of UKIP... and I think these voters will now drift to the Conservatives who they entrust to deliver a Brexit that will be tougher on immigration. Certainly tougher than Labour would be...

Just my opinion and probably very over-simplified but that's what I think right now.

Ah. OK. You realise the burden currently falls hardest on those that have a much lower income but, a bit like Ronnie Barker between Ronnie Corbett and John Cleese, you're suggesting Cleese should pay more instead of you. Then the Tories increase VAT, privatise the NHS, make it more difficult for the poor to achieve social mobility through universal standards in education - and Corbett dies.
 
Ferguslie Park and Shettleston, which are areas in Paisley and Glasgow respectively both of which have massive deprivation have voted Tory. I cannot fathom any reason that doesn't lead me to deeply depressing conclusions.

Don't think it's far from the truth. They're convinced things are the way they are for them cause of immigration. I doubt even Farage could change their minds.

To be fair, she was already promoted to the front bench before Corbyn became leader. Corbyn probably run out of people and she is loyal. Additionally she supports his ideological leanings. No idea how she could be so successful in the first place. Maybe she is really good at doing local work for her constituency; people have different talents and I wouldn't rule out that she is a good organiser.
