I'm strangely optimistic about today. WHL was always a good hunting ground for us in the Fergie days - lets end it with a bang.

If you're genuinely embarrassed you need to sort your fecking life out you fecking emo.

So we're picking up injuries almost every game and we play all of our already limited centre half options for the only game that matters, in a completely pointless fixture. Makes sense...

I'm going all Roy Keane but we are Man Utd and we should NEVER put out such a dogshit team like that for any competitive game. I wouldn't even expect us to put out that team in a preseason friendly. I'm happy tuanzabe is getting more minutes though.

I know we've got the final coming up but For a club of our stature with the money spent these last few years it is embarrassing which ever way you look at it.

So you wouldn't rest players we need fresh for the biggest game of the season? Fair enough. I wouldn't but hey ho. Who would you start that's missing out?

Yes he played last week against Arsenal 2-2. Did well, he also signed a contract last season to keep him at the club until 2020. I dont get it. I know his spell at Wolves wasnt great, but he always looked good for us last season.

CBJ is unavailable to play for the first team as we recalled him after the transfer window has closed.

4:0 scoreline in the other two games today

We'll win today lads. Rooney hattrick incoming.

It has a point. Smalling and Jones were injured for a long time. They need to play 2 games at least from now till the final to catch their form because one of them is going to play if not both. We can't put them on the bench then directly to the final while they're still out of match sharpness.

I'm baffled that some people aren't happy we're resting players. This game is meaningless. Why risk them?

He wouldn't be playing even if we weren't in the EL final, under the circumstances. Although there are probably some whose middle name isn't compassion.

Yeah to be fair I only mentioned Pogba as he's our best player, wasn't actually thinking about his dad.

What? My point wasn't clear enough?

Wasn't sure if you were being serious or not mate, do you think we should be full strength today or not?

A strange and angry post there. As if we should shower him with praise just because he's not come out publicly to moan about getting dropped. Being professional is the bare minimum expected from every United player

No idea where you got this "shower with praise" stuff from. Now that is a strange post. Why would he be showered with praise for doing what he's paid to do? He's been a huge player for this club and I find it bizarre to read comments from people apparently outraged that he's getting a run-out in a game that means feck all. Weirdos.

I'm not especially confident of a good Spurs performance in this match ... because I fear the players will let the emotion of the occasion get to them and try too hard for the win - leaving us more than usually open and vulnerable to the counter-attack.

Has he been playing for the U-23s since his return from the Wolves loan?

If he's available for the first team then he should be selected. He's got first team experience and is a decent player.

He is still on loan at Wolves technically so can't play for the first team. Only the u23s.

People would complain no matter what. Strong team, kids, formation change... who cares just constant negativity.

We're terrible in doing counters then don't worry.

Last quality counter attack we did had Martial and Rooney in the side. Think we're not bad, just really bad in making the chances count.

If we played Herrera, Pogba and Rashford and they got injured the caf would crack, why Mourinho didnt rest them. When we play Carrick, Rooney, Smalling and Jones ( who are all clearly the second string) the caf still isnt happy.

Line up is ok, the result is irrelevant, I just hope we dont have 6 at the back like against Arsenal and at least play with a bit of pride.

Two players I took out at the last minute bloody start so 9/11 ffs

It's really sad that a select few are going to use this game as a stick to beat Mourinho with. If he went all out in the PL and we accumulated more injuries, that could jeopardise our Europa League final chances. He just can't win.

There's no way they can't understand the logic, they just want to drive their agendas against Jose.

Ironically this match is probably as important as a pre-season friendly...

I know complaining about line-ups is standard but pretty much the only criticism anyone could rationally aim at today's lineup would be if it was too strong. Playing Smalling, Jones and Mata is arguably a bit rash but I guess they need games after being out injured so long?

Ah, the great counter attack of November 2015. I remember that.

Joke, I know that was against Burnley.

It's still a week and a half to the final tbf, he didn't have to rest all our key players at once. I don't really have an issue with it as it'd be far more annoying to play some of them and see one of them get injured then, I would have liked to see him take off the shackles a bit though but it doesn't look like that will be the case.

The final is in 10 days. I don't have an issue with key players being rested, but what is the point in persisting with Carrick and Rooney? They are totally finished. Play the youngsters instead.

Both have a good chance of playing in the EL final or at least being involved. Not sure what youngsters you want played to be honest, most available, Tuanzebe aside aren't good enough.

Jesus. Pogba's father has just passed away, he is not there. Rashford is our most important player right now with Ibra injured and needs wrapping in cotton wall, then comes Valencia and Herrera who are also important. Jones, and Smalling need game time. Carrick and Rooney are our second string. Line up is fine

Ditto. Even Blind and Lingard could have been rested if it wadn't such a big game.

The way we're accumulating injuries I wouldn't care if he played a full team of kids.

We should have tried harder for a result against Arsenal when it was possible but now it's a no brainer.

It's an awkward one as it might just show how bad our youngsters are as well. That won't help them. This might just prove that Carrick and Rooney need replacing, especially Rooney. Carrick could have a limited use.
