Right, because the unions (who are on the NEC) wouldn't have allowed it to be dropped as their members' jobs depend on it. Why would they be against ending the benefit freeze?

Who else was on that Clause V list again? Maybe one of those groups contain one or two people who'd be against it.

Thankfully there is a lengthy list of things to get behind. Most notably the end of WCA in private hands. Plus the comments from Corbyn and McDonnell would suggest ending it is something they want to do, even if the manifesto doesn't say so.

The Police Federation has renewed calls for more investment in neighbourhood policing in the wake of the London Bridge/Borough Market terrorist attack.

As London’s Met Police Chief admitted they needed to look at resourcing and strategy, Federation Vice-Chair Calum Macleod said: "We must first recognise the extreme bravery shown by police officers and other emergency services who, as always, put their lives in danger to help others. But we’re in danger of sleep-walking towards another tragedy if we don’t recognise right now that community policing is on the critical list."

Home Office figures show that between 2015 and 2016 more than 3,350 neighbourhood officers have been lost and Her Majesty's Inspectorate of Constabulary (HMIC) warned of an ‘erosion in neighbourhood policing’ only last year.

"It’s what the Federation has been saying for years," said Mr Macleod. "We know the information to stop these mindless attacks exists within communities and great work is being done to forge strong, valuable relationships to capture this. But it cannot be jeopardised by reducing the contact the police has with the public."

He welcomed the extra investment that has been made in counter-terrorism policing but added: "This is not enough on its own – other areas, like community policing, need more boots on the ground now so that we can strengthen those neighbourhood relationships and stop the terrorists before they claim more lives.

"The reality is that all those of interest to the security services can’t be watched all the time and difficult decisions have had to be made."

Mr Macleod discounted any ideas that routinely arming all police was the answer: "When we last surveyed our members, 80% told us they did not want to routinely carry firearms. They do, however want access to better equipment, such as Taser and spit guards.”

But the spotlight is now firmly on the dearth of neighbourhood policing as the UK reels from its third terror attack in a couple of months. Mr Macleod added: “We have and will no doubt continue to hear remarkable stories of people’s selfless acts to help others in the days and weeks to come. But we must not lose sight of the key challenge now – and that is ensuring we have a resilient fully-staffed police service, including the neighbourhood policing resources it needs."

So stretched resources have had no effect at all? Presumably the cuts haven't had any negatives affects on anything then, let's just cut the the budgets further since there's no repercussions. May accused the authorities of scaremongering - downright brushing away their concerns so she could steamroll the cuts through.

So you think that just pumping more money money in will address extremism? So let's just pump in 100% more, put a few pence on income tax and all is sorted? Instead we could just tax business more, as that will build a vibrant and strong economy, oh I forgot Corbyn is already planning on doing that regardless of police funding.

Nice deflection but it's not going to work. May proposed cuts, she was warned it would put further strain on the intelligence services, she ignored it and openly attacked the leaders that warned her. Fortunately she has folk like you that will fight tooth and nail to protect her from even being remotely responsible for stretching resources past breaking point.

On a serious note though if you would care to you can easily find years worth of warnings about this very thing and you can equally easily find mountains of stuff about intelligence gathering and community policing.

It's all very well and good saying 'these things fall under the remit of someone other than your local Bobby therefore cuts don't matter' but quite simply virtually no one other than the Tories actually believes that. You're trading in specific knowledge of local communities in favour of mass data collection which few in the intelligence service seem to believe works.

It's telling that most of these people are known to intelligence services from tip offs rather than because of data mining.

I'm never sure how these Corbyn rallies play. People who aren't sure on him seem to sometimes reference the fact that the whole Corbyn movement is a bit culty. Not sure that's dispelled by him addressing the adoring mob chanting his name.

He's more modest that Kinnock's Sheffield rally performance, I guess.

More police on the streets, more intelligence officers collecting info on those on watchlists can only help. If that attack had happened in a smaller city, the death toll would of been much higher. The police are stretched, NHS is struggling, education is struggling.. EVERY fecking area of the Public sector is struggling.. why vote Tory? They will just keep cutting & help the few, while fecking the many.

Its amusing when Torys condemn terror attacks when they are selling arms to a major funder of terrorism.
