Duality of the Caf - knows Tories will probably win big, still cannot help but predict Labour will do better.

I've also just remembered that Zac Goldsmith is probably winning his seat back on Friday, urgh.
That's exactly it.

Horrible thought that too, slimy bastard.

Nah, over-complicates things. Just assume they form part of 'everyone else'. So it's essentially how many seats more than 326 the Tories win, multiplied by two.

Did a quick data analysis, with projected figures for the other parties, looks like people are only on average 10 seats off a realistic majority + Labour seat count. An intelligent bunch, or just luck? Quite interesting to see who is the most accurate out the lot of you though...
Only thing to watch for is that some places will include the speaker in the tories total seat count and some places won't.

Suggests a rainbow coalition would be the only way we could form a government...

Blimey.
That would either go really well and usher in a new era of progressive politics...

Or really really really badly.

If that yougov forecast turns out to be close tomorrow, will anyone here change their mind about Corbyn?
If he can get in power, I'll be delighted.

He already had changed my mind, because hes donr a lot better. Hes gone from not wanting to use a PMQs to question goverment u turns, because hed rather talk about emergency crisis, to calling her out WWE style

Looking like a hung parliament to me. I think I may have even suggested it might be a few weeks back. I remember the day after the election was called I was in a meeting down in London and I suggested to someone that once Davies and May got out in front of the public opinion would shift. Should have put my money where my mouth was...

Oohh, that's interesting.Really hope those feelings on security are widespread, I've been worried the attacks would kill off his campaign.
The problem is, the 'undecided' and 'prefer not to says' at the end will probably vote Tory anyway.

They have fears over security and blame May, say Corbyn has impressed them and that he looks more Prime ministerial, yet they don't know who they will vote for. It's odd. If they can't say for sure now how they will vote, I doubt anything said today will be able to convince them.

There might just have been too much negative press for Corbyn making the public hesitant in voting for him.

Try and not be optimistic guys, it's going to be a big Tory win.

The problem is that only Yougov and Survation show gaps this small. The other polls seem to have an average of 7%-9% gaps. I think it's because (as mentioned here) Yougov is factoring in high youth support for Labour and this is the group which historically votes least. As well as high turn out amongst 65+ for Tories. It'll only be hung parliament territory if the youth actually get out and vote, otherwise landslide territory.

Maybe, but I'm not convinced there's ever been more of a stigma about voting Labour than there has been right now. It's impossible to say which way they will break and we will find out tomorrow.

Really tempted to put £50 on 390-419 Conservative seats at 5/1.

The more vitriolic the conversation regarding voting Tory the more shy the Tory support gets. The tone surrounding this election makes the 2015 election look like a vote for Student Union Treasurer; there's people foaming at the mouth to condemn Tory voters as puppy murdering lunatics.

Any Conservative (or even non-Labour) voter that I've seen verbalise or explain their views (particularly on social media) have been harangued as to why they want to see disabled people dying on the streets, why they want the NHS to be privatised, why they want to cause a nuclear holocaust, why they're happy with nurses using food banks, why they're happy to see our Education system collapse and generally why they are detestable human beings.

Simple and evidence-based assertions like "I don't believe that Labour's version of "fully costing" their manifesto is based on a pragmatic economic reality" are met with a torrent of abuse essentially labeling the non-convert a Tory sociopath; even where the person making the statement has not even mentioned who they're voting for.

You'd genuinely think that some of the questioning of Labour policies were akin to someone questioning the reality of the holocaust.

Like the look of my Local Labour Candidate. Although she does have a hotmail account.

Its now coin flip between labour and Lib Dems for ny vote

There are plenty of twats on both sides finneh.

Pretty much my thoughts on Abbott, hope she takes all the time she needs.

What's your constituency if you don't mind me asking? Are you considering voting tactically?

Vote early, vote often.

Even if I could (I don't have a postal vote in either and can't drive to the other) or was ethically ok with doing it it wouldn't make a difference given how safe a Conservative seat one of them is.

Are you really surprised? People are starting to experience genuinely life changing conservative policies that are leaving them desperate for basics like food or keeping a roof over their head. They see a party that not only doesn't give a single feck about them, but wants to continue to cut more and more of the lifelines that keep them and their families afloat. They look ahead to a Tory future and they see an underfunded NHS and schools forced into various degrees of privatisation and an endless slide towards a life where if you're not wealthy you simply don't matter. Oh and if they complain, they're either called marxists who want a free ride, or told by people who inherited vast wealth that the reason they can't feed their kids is because they're lazy moochers.

If you think things are getting savage now, you really don't want to see Britain in 5 years time if the Tories win.

:nono:

"Diane Abbott has been diagnosed with “a serious, long-term condition”, Barry Gardiner, the shadow international trade secretary, has told the Huffington Post."

my gf who's been a long time labour member and follows politics closely suspects Diane Abbott has Alzheimer's. First time i heard her say that was a few weeks ago. Regardless of what her medical condition is, the reactions of social media have been malicious and disgraceful.

This is how it starts isn't it? Slowly you start losing your rights in the name of security and protection.

I was just talking to my neighbour. He said that he had a letter from May saying that she needed to scrap our Human Rights to fight terror.

I said that they will bring it in under the guise of defending us then use it against us.

He replied that they have to do something.

I said we have courts in this country. Go to the courts and get a warrant for surveillance on suspected terrorists then you can look at their internet traffic and tap their phones all you want. We don't need to give the Government powers to circumvent the the courts.

Worth pointing out that severe stress can be a pretty debilitating illness of itself.
Her sky news interview yesterday was horrible.

My worst day at work, i asked my girlfriend to stay up with me (shed come back from a crazy long shift) as i just needed to close my eyes and destress with someone who is on my side.

Diane Abbott has had a lot of bad days recently and gets a lot more stick than me.

Let's have a little mock-betting competition where we each try to call how many seats each party will get. Do you think I could get away with starting a new thread for it?

Well, two out of the nine NHS community nurses my wife works with are voting Labour. Hope that helps your hope.
Just because they work in the NHS doesn't mean they can't stupid.

My mum works for the NHS and she too had made stupid assumptions about the strain on the NHS. 'Can't cope, too many foreigners', that despite her telling me every other week about all the cost cutting exercises they were going through.

Thankfully, she ended up voting Labour yesterday without any convincing.

Imagine actually wanting to vote for a government that wants to do these things.

There's no undo button on these things.

I don't vote, of course, but if I was, I'd break the habit of a lifetime and vote Tory.

Everything you say is absolutely why I've always been left-of-centre. But to me the BIGGEST problem for the UK over the next few years is the eventual state of the UK after the UK leaves the EU.

Get BREXIT wrong, and all the problems you're describing will be even more so and even worse....Even more devisive....

Much as I dislike May and many members of her cabinet, it seems to me that they are preferable to a coalition of Labour/LibDen/SNP, all of whom don't want the UK out of the EU, and so don't have the determination or the enthusiasm to make sure the UK doesn't get absolutely, totally screwed by the EU.

Labour or LibDem next time, perhaps, has to be the sensible way forward for the UK - but not this time....

Well, this isn't even close to the truth.

Whilst anecdotal, the arguments I am seeing all over the internet in favour of a Conservative vote actually relate to foreign policy and domestic terrorism. Overwhelmingly so.

Outside of this thread, I've not even seen a hint of the bolded train of thought anywhere. I simply don't believe if anyone tried to articulate that message even half as well that they would be met with a torrent of abuse. Leave the hyperbole at the door next time you enter the thread. :)

I hope Abbott makes a full recovery from whatever illness she has, I don't mean to sound disrespectful but she really isn't up to the job and if I lived in England she'd almost put me off voting Labour.

Hotmail ain't bad. I have 1 of those but my main one is my gmail.
