It seems that the market is currently locked with many clubs bidding for the same players while not allowing their own players to leave unless they get the fees/players they want. Its a seller's market out there. However, things can change very quickly. If for example Real get Mbappe then they will probably release Morata which in turn will probably free Chelsea's path for Lukaku. If Chelsea gets Bakayoko then they will probably sell Matic to us.
True. Nobody has many deals confirmed at the moment.
Many other teams who do not have Messi or Ronaldo, play inverted though. It was used before they came through also. I don't know of many strong teams who play with traditional wide players. I feel its a baseless hypothesisYou should read my post on a few pages back. I said something along the line that football work in cycle. The trend is with narrow attacker & wing back/ full back to provide width. But as team improve & the very top tier in Messi & Ronaldo that make it worth go with this wing forward would eventual wind down while their successors are significantly in doubt to ever reach their level, that tactic would eventually become less effective. Then new/ revived tactic would emerge. My predict is with out out winger.
Look back at the game vs Chelsea. While Young & Valencia can be said as wing back. If they're more quality attacking, they can enjoy more attacking role & is closer to a winger role than wing back's, as Darmian & Herrera played that narrowed full back role to plug the pocket of space that the narrow attacker often try to. It's not rigid 4-4-2 but, I see tweaked of 4-4-2 would eventually make a comeback. See that Atletico did it for a time now. Leicester won the league with some sort of 4-4-2 too. Real shame about Griezmann's transfer though.
He is much better out & out winger than any we have. Doing better proper winger job than any of our players: balance between attacking & defending, keeping wide, stretching play, beating his man, putting cross in, tracking opposition full back... Team can't stop Valencia from running through them on right wing. problem is his creativity suck so he is converted to a full back as his defensive work is still top notch. He's in 30s too. Doesn't look like player automatically decline physical at 30 like in video game. Perisic is not the forward to score 20+ goals, but he helped a lot in the build up. We're over-relying on Pogba especially toward the end of the season. He had to do everything. With Perisic to share the responsibilities, the team would improve, Pogba would improve. Yes we will still look at the players to put the ball into the net, but that was going to happen regardless. The more you say, the more I see that you seem not to watch Perisic at all. I know it's hard to judge a player, but IMO if I have to describe the Perisic the last season, he is the blend/ average of the young Robben & Darmien Duff. That's not top player but pretty good player that capable for a title challenging team in the right set up.
I will repeat again, until the official fee announce, all is up to speculation. If anything the more reliable source showed that we have been posturing to get a reasonable price. Even at 44mil like what you like to believe, the price will only get crazier with time. In case he lives up to the manager's expectation for like 2 seasons, that' good enough. Mourinho would go for winning the trophies. That's the expectation to be clear.
He was terrible on the left. provided little creativity or goalsI believe Martial will do much better this season. And Rashford was not bad at all on the left wing.
Well try and change it. Isnt that the whole point of a debate? You still havent offered any conclusive evidence as to how he will improve our team. The whole "manager wants him so Im okay with it" argument is total fecking bullcrap.
And another one. They do when players leave us...forlan was a useless striker for many until he signed for villereal/ athleti, welbeck the same and now it's like he's the second coming.
Our fans are a fickle bunch, were always looking our with doe eyes and never appreciate what we have.
're perisic I don't know much about him other than if Jose wants him I trust what he wants
He doesn't track back enough...............Yes and Lukaku was also killing it in the Belgian league. And even after he has proven himself in the toughest league people dont think he is good enough. Also 11 goals and 11 assists isnt anything special. If he played here last season, he wouldnt even have as productive as Rooney was. Zaha scored 11 and assisted 8 goals last season. You want to pay 40m+ to bring him back here? He is "premier league proven" plus he wont cut inside. He is an out and out winger and will stretch the play.
And in previous seasons, for better teams in better leagues, how were his "stats?" He seems incredibly inconsistent, even with his stats. In Serie A, fairly ordinary players posted better stats last season. I fully expect these "stats" to fizz out this season if he signsSo, when talking about a player joining another rival stats aren't everything, but for a player we're linked to stats prove he's a terrible player ?
Perisic numbers are excellent providing that Inter is a terrible team with a terrible set of players and not to mention the toxic environment there and changing 3 managers during the season as if they're a relegating club leading to total dysfunctional and disturbed team in terms of tactics and play style. With all this he puts really a very good numbers that matches those of Silva who's playing in a full attacking team that score a whole loads of goals.
That if you want to be fair. Not saying Silva is bad btw.
In this case, he couldn't win. If he paid most here would still call him bellend.
Although, don't believe journalists anything in this story.
Ed had a busted flush
No, he was not, he did well on the left.He was terrible on the left. provided little creativity or goals
No, stacks is right he was poor on the left. Frustrating as hell. Simply not good enough. He's frustrating as striker mostly as well mind you.No, he was not, he did well on the left.
When Ibra was healthy, Rashford was fine on the left. No, stacks is right he was poor on the left. Frustrating as hell. Simply not good enough. He's frustrating as striker mostly as well mind you.
Honestly, I am a teeny weeny dissapointed by Jose. We're going for the obvious targets ex players of his (or his former teams). Those cost alot of £££ to get and will be courted by clubs who are currently in a better shape then us. There's alot of players out there who are as good for less fees. AC Milan signed 3 players (Rodriguez, Kessie and Silva) who would walk into our team and they wouldn't have cost us a fortune.
I would wait to see who we sign first as I think we are in for Mbappe. If he signed posters on here would be falling over themselves. Press have linked us to some former players who would really improve us imho. Plus not sure the 3 you have mentioned would improve us better than Morata Matic and Perisic.
You're not making any decisions, just voicing opinions like the rest of us. That's what a forum is for. Until we sign him or Mourinho comes out and says he wants him, it's all media speculation and you should feel free to form your own opinions, instead of believing everything you read in the media and relying on logical fallacies like appealing to authority.Trusting the opinion of someone far more qualified, with a proven track record and who is currently in charge of what the team is trying to do is a bad thing?!?!?
You're right I should make decisions purely based on a players stats or YouTube highlights.
All these talking and discussions and the player himself is leaving in another alternative world it seems.
For us to be insisting on him like this, the other options on Mourinho's list must be Neymar and Bale.
There's too much competition for Mbappe and lets face it, he's not worth at that fee.

I think Woody has taken Jose's list too literally. When he said "Perisic" I imagine he meant if he was available for £10m, as a decent squad player, not "at any cost"For us to be insisting on him like this, the other options on Mourinho's list must be Neymar and Bale.
He didn't want to comment anything to Croatia journalists and they still stand with the narration that he agreed personal terms. Also, that transfer still might go through if he pushes it. Nothing from this is his words, mind you.
Just to cheer this thread up with some positive news about our favourite summer target.

What was my post if not me offering my view on what may be happening? Did I word it incorrectly or something?
As for logical fallacy???? What part of my reasoning is fallacy? Am I missing something or are you just having a bad day?
Agree to disagree then. I can't say I am full time Serie A follower like I used to in late 90s or early 2000s, but still watch quite plenty games. I watched him the season before, this season before the rumor surfaced. Rated fairly. Everyone have different view, but the Ashley Young is way off the mark for me. Perisic is consistent roasting his marker. He is not world class in dribbling the entire defense, but the previous point stand. He can go wide or cut back with ease. Young constantly cut back to his his right foot to cross, shooting even at . At his low point, Young refuse to take on his man. Perisic can be inconsistent with his end product but that initial point stand: he is a consistent good outlet to stretch play. You making out I have never seen him play, I watched him quiet a few times since we were linked with him, and that worried me. Again this is the problem, he will help which he will be very invincible in allot of games, our goals for ratio from allot of our players from midfield especially is pretty damn poor, and like I say we will be going into summer 2018 after yet another winger. I disagree he is a mix of robben and duff, he is more in the ashley young category than a duff and robben, would not even put him in prime valencia's league. Our problem was goals from our team, think you being very generous if you think he will help pogba out, especially when I see him more of a squad player. My view with perisic, Mourinho wants him to be a defensive outlet, which was the entire problem with why we finished 6th, and I just think with this direction we going to be pretty toothless going forward, the traditional winger for my money is pretty outdated, even our traditional wingers at the height of the Ferguson era were pretty exciting who were unpredictable, and did more than just hug the touchline and cross
That's the (initial) point I made, wasn't it? Football works in cycle. It's not something entire new when Messi & Ronaldo came about. They're phenomenal & some copy cat (players & coaches) just try to be them (top players & top coaches) & failed, while the defensive system keep improving to play against the top of generation & eventually contained the copy cat. The outstanding one (player & coach) for next generation often does thing differently (doesn't mean create an entire new thing) to start a new cycle. Nothing is as eternal outdated. 4-4-2 cycle were outgrown by formation that has extra central midfielder like 451, then 4-3-3 came offer more attacking intent without losing the midfield battle thus freezing out the 2 wingers in 451, then 5 at the back comes back to life to contain that front 3...The

It seems that we improved our bid to 40m euros and it was refused once again.
