People getting their currency and sums wrong. Castles said it is €30m after tax which if assumed 40% tax rate would be around €50m per year over 5 years. That's €250m total. Then transfer fee is €222m. Then agent and player sign on fees and viola half a billion Euro

well considering United are an actual company that is self sufficient and the other 2 clubs are state sponsored money pits, I would believe that they have a limit less budget as opposed to us.
English clubs are mugs when it comes to buying domestically. Do they have no European scouting dept that can find equal talent for fraction of the value?

I guess the problem is that they can't afford to take a risk on players from others leagues, if they don't adjust to the league / weather / being away from family, it can be a costly mistake.
Paying a premium for premier league proven talent I guess is the safer option. Especially when premier league survival could be at stake
I think Southampton's model puts paid to the idea that clubs can't take a risk. They can, they should just be better at laying the ground work when it comes to scouting and gathering data. As it is, such is the regard that Southampton are now held in, it makes recruiting talent much easier for them. They have a proven track record.
It pays to be smart.
I do find it quite incredible just how poor so many mid-size Premier League clubs are at recruitment. Particularly when Southampton's own model has been well documented.
I hope we sign Bernardeschi over Perisic. He's 23 years old and scores or assists in around 1 in every 3 games. Useful player with potential.

If it's not true, then it's pretty callous (for lack of a stronger word) to spread such a rumour. Not aimed at you, but whoever started it.
United is a club that spends its own money without the backing of oil rich economies. PSG is as much a political project as it is a football project, after their setback in the league and humiliation in the CL I wouldn't be surprised if they want to make a statement by getting Neymar.
