Kante is seriously overrated at this point. On the ball he can only play at one pace, regardless of the circumstances, and off the ball he's exceptional at winning it back but really not very good at reading the play (e.g. Burnley's 2nd goal).
This is just a cunnning plan by Conte to get some new players in before the window closes.
