I see nothing wrong with those comments tbh. Personally I dont really care about players who are not playing for Utd but wishing a talented player to do well as long as his success doesnt impact Utd doesnt bother me.
On the other hand, trawl through the previous few pages of this thread and you find heaps declaring him a flop after 25 min in a glorified friendly. That kind of tribalism never appealed to me.
I'm simply making a prediction based on where I think he'll be by end of season.

Why on earth any United fan would want Chelsea's new number one striker to be anything other than an abject flop is a fecking mystery to me. People are weird.
I can't see it tbh. Yes I agree he is going to be a success at Chelsea, but we'll have to wait and see on the goals.
I think overall, he's better suited to playing with another striker. He'd have been a fantastic partner for Rashford, whereas Lukaku will dominate defenses on his own.

Yes you almost definitely will. As I said earlier we should recognise his talent when he plays well. But I don't understand hoping he does well.
If he is successful then he will impact United. Indirectly at the least, seeing as Chelsea (despite today's loss) should finish in the top few places of the league.
He's a good player, people who've seen enough of him know he's always had tools there to be one of the best strikers in the league if he puts it all together consistently.
Can't believe people want him to do well. It's like he's the new Welbeck on here, except he never even played for us in the first place.
35-40 goals should be his target you claimed..He scored a header against Burnley! Let's wait and see.
He starts ahead because he was surrounded by better players all his time and learnt the trade at the highest level. Lukaku seems more determined to make an impact though. All in all, Morata has the higher ceiling but Lukaku will be more consistent and, for the league, Lukaku is better to have imho.

Using that logic, if Giroud was the main striker for Arsenal he'd be a 30+ player. His goals per minute ratio last season in the Premier League was a goal every 100 minutes and he started just 11 games. Morata scored a goal every 89 minutes and started 14 league games. So Morata was slightly better in a much more productive team.
We've already seen with Giroud as a starter that it's not quite that simple for all sorts of reasons.

I'm all for a stronger league with star players in different teams performing. For far too long the PL has been a midden heap where the least shit wins instead of the best of a great bunch.
He was also close on the offside non goal and set up Luiz. A pretty good 30 minute league debut.

I don't want him to go ahead and score 20 goals a season now. I just thought it was nice in a game which was already lost to see him score a goal after all the stick he received from United fans, for simply not joining their club.
Starting regularly is different than coming in as a sub against tired defences. I think he'll be fine though. 20 goals I reckon.

I think you are overhyping him imo. Your imperious defence of him on here is also a bit weird.
He may not reach 35 depending on circumstances (injuries/suspensions etc), but the quality is definitely there.

Of course, but that goes for any season. Never should United (or any of the other contenders) go into a season expecting to latch onto other teams faltering. That'd be absurd.
A stronger league isn't our responsibility. It's only our own duty to make sure we're a top team. The rest is on everyone else, and their own teams. I can understand wanting the league to get stronger on the whole, but ultimately a league win is a league win and whatever advantages befall United is the best situation. When United do eventually win the league again, no one will care how weak the league was. The headline story will be that United have won again and that's it. If everyone else puts up a terrible fight, then that's their problem and not ours.
Also there's a need to distinguish between people who you think actually want Morata to do well for the league as you may say, and those who want to be proven right over which striker we should've got between him and Lukaku.
Agreed, but i guess some people would rather be right about a rival player than how it affects the club they support.
