James McCarthy (when he was fit and played 30+ games a season), was often underwhelming for Ireland. Coleman has never been the same attacking force in an Irish shirt either.
But of course, some of it is down to tactics and playing with inferior players compared to what they have at Everton.
Shame was hoping to see Sturridge, we have a lot of depth in the attacking positions, would love us to try a diamond and make that work. I just don't think Southgate has the coaching ability to maximise the system with the personell.
And the fact at NT level they don't train everyday as they do at club level, that is why the best NT from Spain or Germany had the base of Barcelona and now Madrid or Bayern.

Levy is no under no obligation to be what you call "reasonable". Instead he's under an obligation to do the best he can for the club, which means either retaining our best players or - if one wants to leave and the club is OK with letting them leave - getting very large sums of money for them.
To that end, screw what Barcelona (or any other club) may or may not want or think is reasonable.
Normally fans demand that Ronaldo or Messi perform at the same level for their NT forgetting they don't have the same routines of training, this and the fact in our case Ronaldo at Real Madrid plays in a team where he has Benzema alongside him, and behind him, Kroos, Modric and Isco.
Tbf Neymar really does have a great impact for Brasil, really expecting him to blow everything on Russia.

It is not just about the club sides - e.g. Germany has a lot players that play together for long times, some since youth times and come out of similar systems. Germany right now has 7 players out of the Stuttgart youth system.
Chile, so they do not play together in the club - have a lot players of similar age that play together for ages.
Was giving a example, not saying current German NT is the base of Bayern, but it helped in 2014, as between 2008 and 2012 the base of Barcelona helped the dynamics of Spain, even Portugal at 2004 even without winning was helped by the Porto base of Mourinho.
But sure, of course it helps having players who come from the system beggining at the under 15's, 16's and so on, but if you add a core of 5 or more players to the starting 11 it will help the dynamic in the team, it is an advantage imo.
But Montenegro-Denmark is before Poland-Montenegro.

Should Montenegro beat Romania, they will also be on 16 points. 1 less in GD right now.
Let's say that Montenegro beats Denmark 2-1, they will be 3 points ahead of them.
But should Denmark win against Romania and Poland beat Montegro, its likely that Denmark will finish 2nd on GD.
A draw in Montenegro would be a great result.
