World Cup 2018 Qualifiers

Doesn't 4th CONCACAF play 5th CONMEBOL?

Playing Australia-Syria is much better outlook than a South American nation.

5th from Conmebol plays Oceania which will be New Zeland and Concacaf plays the 5th from Asia

Colombia 1-1 Brazil FT

Good result for Colombia. Peru is drawing 0-0 in Ecuador with 20 minutes to go which is a bad result for both teams.

US seemingly have zero confidence across the pitch outside Dempsey and Pulisic, and perhaps Bradley as well. I do wonder if they have zero faith in some of their mates and the coaching staff.

If the US lose this match Arena must be fired. No clue what manager that could bring in to right the ship for the final two qualifiers and a potential playoff matchup. Knowing how USSF operate they'd likely appoint another company man/American, so hello to someone like Jason Kreis. Le sigh.

Chile or Argentina will be out of the play-offs after 16 games, if it stays this way. Alexis motivation through the roof, if he got no World Cup football in 2018 to look forward to.

Conmebol will be decided on the final fixture. Glad we not in that dog fight .

Penalty to Ecuador and a red card to Peru! This is an incredible finish to the game

2-1. 10 minutes to go, Peru playing with 10 men

What's that about?

Bolivia got results against Chile and Peru but were docked points for fielding an ineligible player. Some Paraguayan randomer with no caps, had lived in Bolivia long enough to get citizenship but not long enough to play for them according to a certain interpretation of the rather convoluted FIFA rules.

Chile filed a complaint, after the deadline established for such things, and yet they got the game as won instead of drawn taking them to fourth ahead of Argentina on GD courtesy of the 3-0 scoreline.

Basically, everyone got fecked. Literally.

Peru benefitted as well.

True, and they were completely out of it. Such a shame for Ecuador who did everything right early on.

Peru manage to hold on. First time they win in Quito

This is not looking good for Chile

Damn that sucks. Hopefully Ecuador can pull it off and make it

Ecuador has been awful for a while now. Quito ain't the fortress it used to be because it's now affecting the Ecuador players as well.

Pressure on Argentina too. Must win game for them.

I was in Quito when the news came (belatedly a few weeks ago, after a year of back and forth by Conmebol). They were livid. Not angry, just numb. This game against Peru looked the most likely to get points from (the others were Brazil and Chile away and Argentina home!).

Next fixture will be incredible. Lots of the chasing pack playing each other. Thank god we have Venezuela away and Bolivia home after today, should be rather safe and any slip ups don't gift points to rivals.

I'd take a draw right now.

The USA really suck. How can Fabian Johnson not get a start on this team.

How did the US beat them 6-0? Did they play basketball?

I heard about that (CAS decision last week?).... I thought he had played for Paraguay?

lol Honduras starts time wasting from 60', the GK throws the ball out of bounds to fake an injury for a few minutes, issues a red card in stoppage time, and in the end he only plays 3' of extra time.

Don't agree with Wood as bein's MoM choice. Cameron's entrance forced the US into a back three and allowed them to deploy an extra man into midfield which ultimately allowed the side to gain more possession and control. But if you're going to take the player that scored and didn't do much else, oh well.

I think that ref was paid extra tonight.

I know its against Venezuela but Argentina always look so much better when Banega plays.
