Amazing how much our game improved once Rooney was off the pitch. Just like old times :drool:

Martial needs to be given a few league starts in a row. Rashford has been pretty poor this season. Give Tony a chance to make that left wing position his.
Crap performance today, bar the defence and DDG. All is good though, great to see us scoring goals again.

Cannot agree more. He's been immense and the few occasions the ball does not stick to his foot, he can recover with those long limbs of his. What a buy he's turning out to be.

He really has been a brilliant signing. A lot of people are saying that last season we would have drawn that game 1-1. Imagine how the game could/would have turned out today if Matic wasn't in there.

Good result but doesn't really reflect the game. It seemed both teams were happy at 1-0 and just messed around in the middle for a while. Would have been nice to wrap that up abit earlier but 3 points in the bag and a good + on the GD.

Played right into our hands. Most people will view this as a shit performance. But everton were done the minute they took of gueye and threw on an attacker.

We exploited them and killed the match off in convincing fashion. Prior to that it wasnt a classic dominant performance. Thats to be expected when we played midweek and also were missing Pogba.

What we did do was defend well and remain VERY solid throughout. It would be nice if our wingers could cross better, but that will come as Martial/Rashford/Lingard improve. Not to mention that it looks likely we will bring in another attacker either in Jan or next summer. Griezmann and/or Bale would give Lukaku alot more supply.

As it is, we were clinical today apart from Lukaku's first half miss. We pressed the shit out of everton and forced them into alot of mistakes.

Great to see the fitness in the team has really really improved.

Now we need to see if we can beat a team away from home in the same fashion.
:lol::lol: Defended well

Mourinho won't have missed the fact the result masks a poor performance, a real lack of guile in the final 3rd at times today and we missed Pogba in midfield. I thought the fullbacks, Mata and Matic were our best players while Lukaku stepped up for 2 key moments in a game that had seen nothing go right for him.

This. Can't stand Koeman.
Had a lot of time for them until recently. Their fans are especially ungrateful. Koeman's comments come across very small time, considering he's built his team around ex United players.

Very frustrating game to watch, but when we were up against tired defenders we put them to the sword.
I do love it when Martial comes on against tired defenders. They basically crap themselves.

On a separate note, Everton's GK is perhaps the worst GK I have seen play at OT in the last few years.
Normally I see GKs put in MOTM performances against us, but this guy looked like he was new to goal keeping.
He conceded 4 goals today. 3 goals against Atalanta. That's 7 goals conceded in 3 days. And I'm willing to bet he'd conceded plenty before then. EDIT: Yes, he conceded 3 goals in the match before Atalanta. That's 10 goals conceded in 1 week.
If Koeman values his job, he'll bench him, otherwise he may be the next to get chop.

It's really annoying how inconsistent we are going forward considering the.amount of talent we have. Jose got his subs right but he should have made them earlier.

Miki was being Miki today, Mata again like he should be playing Under 5's, Rashford rubbish.... and thats pretty much our attack done.

If we wanted to change the game earlier we should have made the Martial, Lingard, Hererra subs instead of letting the game drift along and invite pressure.

Absolutely dire performance and it shows how lacking we are in a lot of areas of the pitch.
Which is a weird thing to say when you've just won 4-0 at home.
Having young and Valencia at full back is a breath of fresh air though, and it just highlights how in the summer we need two new great attacking fullbacks.
Lukaku was good bar his miss but seeing him score and celebrate is excellent.
Rashford was a waste of time as was Mata really, I was impressed by mkhy though which I'm not usually.
Lingard is literally the worst footballer ever that has played at any level and he's a big goon.
Play a bunch of kids against Burton now and rest up for the next match, we need to keep this momentum in the premier league for as long as possible to have any hope of winning the league.

A flattering score, no doubt. We were very shaky for the most of the second half but it's also obvious that we were missing Pogba and it had influence on our attacking display. Everton throw in the towel after the second goal. Thought that De Gea and Matic were immense.

That Lukaku song is gaining momentum. :nervous:

Last season we played well but could not score (remember those draws)?
Today we didn't play too well, but scored 4.
I'd rather play badly and win 4-0, than play well and draw 1-1.

Neville has a face of thunder, still seems miserable that we won by that scoreline

Not the best game from us, but Matic was absolutely brilliant. He was covering everything! Our main creative force as well.
Young, Valencia and Lukaku very good.
Martial looked lively when he came on. I don't know what happened with Rashford this game, his poorest game for us I can remember.

Not looking good in midfield without pogba. If he is really injured for 2 or 3 months against city , liverpool, tottenham it will not be good.
Matic was excellent today. Beast. Young should continue on left back also because he is playing really well. I love that guy. Always gives everything when he plays. And yes, martial must play in first 11

Feels like we only turn things on in the last 10 mins. Flattering score line but delighted with the points!

We could have buried it in the first half in those first 20 mins. After that gash for the most part. Both Rashford and Lingard were useless today.

Matic, what a brilliant signing. Have to hold my hands up and say I wasn't sure about him but he is proving all his doubters wrong. Fellaini solid. Bailly dodgy again, maybe he needs to be dropped. Lukaku scored but poor hold up from him and great from Martial to score again.

There was some crazy shitness from our CB's today. Bailly's positioning at times is god awful.

He spent most of the second half calling us shit and predicting a draw, probably annoyed that his bets didnt come off

I might be in the minority but I didn't think we were that bad today! Poor second half - but Rooney was their best player, we couldn't get the ball off him, but once he went off and Herrera came on, we looked -light years- ahead which is the main reason the games finished 4-0.

City ahead due to a goal which should have been ruled offside. A very obvious one at that.

Don't understand why it took us to go 2-0 up to show some genuine gear change.

It was as if we scored too early and we just became so complacent, and just expected them to roll over without needing to try.

Still, another 4-0 win. City dropped points to them at home so it's a good win for us.

Fellaini, Matic and the defence was class all game.

de Gea saved us at time when the match was still open so he gets my MOTM (cheers Rooney).

It was a very flattering scoreline, but thats not our fault as Everton refused to convert thier dominant periods and clear chances with goals. However, even if they had scored, I suspect we have increased a gear and quickly scored another.

One already consistant theme this season is how much fitter and smashing weaker teams in the last 10 minutes. When other teams tire, not only do we have better stamina, the gap in quality also shows.

DDG, Valencia, Matic and Lingard all had very good games and Lukaku provided match winning touches despie being off key. Its also very pleasing that Mhkitariyan, Martial, Rashford, Mata and others have significantly improved their goal scoring.

Graeme Souness was bang on about DDG.

We could have been 2-1 or 3-1 down going into the last 10 minutes if it weren't for him.

This is a good win. Yes, the result could have been easily different but then it could have also been 5-0 if Lukaku had taken the first half chance.

Liverpool didn't play well yesterday and lost points. We did the same and got all three and also improved our goal difference in the process. I have no complaints with that.

Also, I am really surprised by the extreme criticism on this thread. We finished 6th last season and won against a team that have troubled us in the past. Why can't be celebrate on the post match thread?

Somehow I feel that anything beyond a total domination performance will illicit this sort of a response from this place. As for me, I am enjoying this season and am extremely happy.

It was as if we scored too early and we just became so complacent, and just expected them to roll over without needing to try.

I think that's exactly what happened.
In fact, Rashford was being very casual (standing still, with the ball at his feet on numerous occassions), expecting the EFC player to simply move out of the way.

Still can't get over Valencia's strike. So good. Where on earth did that come from?!

Perfect start for four minutes followed by eighty minutes of underwhelming football, then Everton decided to shoot themselves in the foot.

What lunacy allows Lingard to come on before Martial? For the moment, I thought Martial was injured. I don't understand what Lingard brings to the team.

Mourinho should stop fecking around and close the game quickly.
