Of course nothing wrong, but what's the point in it? I won't like it if a player from a club I support makes such statements.

Of course nothing wrong, but would you like to hear one of our players talking about potential destinations? We love players who are 100% committed. When AdM kept blabbering about PSG, it gave negative vibes to the fanbase. But maybe he ain't saying that way who knows

Bad analogy. Di Maria had never played for PSG or lived in Paris. He was just batting his eyelids to another team. Morata is simply making a retrospective analysis of a career choice he made, judging it to have been wrong. Post event.

He might not want to live in London for too long. But don't think it is really a ADM situation.
Di maria, for whatever reasons (wanted Paris move actually, his kids health needed warmer places, his family didnt like Manchester, was a feckin coward etc etc) seemed to almost hate being here. Morata just loves Italy more than London. Besides it is still early. Over a period of time, you might start liking a place. Not just footballers, many people do not like certain place when they move for work, but eventually start loving it.
 
He never wanted to move to Chelsea in the first place.

He dyed his hair red and then he cried when we signed Lukaku instead of him ffs.

He also said his wife wants to live in Spain, he wants to live in Italy and London is a "compromise".
 
In my opinion, players don't need to be so frank about their preferences. They should keep it to themselves. Everything is a talking point for the media. He should not give them even more fodder. Now anytime he has a bad game, they'll talk about how his heart is not here. If one of our players says something like that, I'll find it hard to fully support him.

I struggle to see the link between the 2, there are many players who are PL and who still dream of Italy/Spain.

I quoted the example of AdM just to elaborate a fan's perspective. He clearly says he would like to live in Italy, came here only because of Conte, Italian league is harder and tactically the best... These comments just don't get on well with the fans. Just my opinion though. After giving a decent amount of time thinking about it, its far from a AdM situation.

If he's thinking like that then I'm glad we avoided getting him, despite him being an excellent striker but he doesn't seem to have the will to settle in England for a long time. If London didn't suit him I don't know how Manchester would have.
 
Not sure what the issue is, footballers should enjoy where they play too - he can make a decent living in many countries

I think he will stay for 3 years minimum. He only said "not for a long time", meaning, he won't stay for 7-8 years. Besides, I doubt Chelsea will let him leave that easy if they value him.

True. However I don't think these are the comments one should be making when he has just joined a new club. Neither of the comments really emphasize on the notion that Chelsea as a club attracted him. He mentioned Conte, the spanish contingent but it really makes you think whether he wanted to join them in the first place and whether he jumped the ship when only Chelsea's bid was accepted.

There aren't any issues. Just a general discussion. He has every right to decide where he wants to play. The timing seems a bit odd as he has only recently switched clubs.

Sure but you know what you're getting. Take for example Courtois. He seems to be set on getting a move to Spain in mid-term future and we already know that because he's in England, knows what the country has to offer and wants to move abroad. Morata on the other hand had no idea what he was getting into. Once he came to England he might realize that it's not the life he wants for himself or maybe he loves it there, who knows. It's that uncertainly, it's a risk that a player may never enjoy this entirely new culture.

It's not a crisis that he's struggling with a big city in the first few months, but he should, as others have said probably keep this stuff to himself. It will end up being dredged up by the media/fans everytime he doesn't score/play well.
 
I think this is a case of another interview with Italian Journo being misconstrued again as with Conte's previous interview with an Italian journo. He probably means he will live outside of London soon, such as in Surrey where Conte, Azpilicueta and a few of our players do/have lived. With Terrorism being more prevalent these days in London, I am not surprised that sometimes these thoughts about leaving London go through some people's heads. Surrey is a much nicer place to live and easily affordable for multi-millionaire footballers.

That kind of ignorance bemuses me tbh. I think if any one of these guys was to actually travel around the country, top to tail, they would see the beauty of the country/Island as a whole. Unfortunately many of them grow up without a proper education and a narrow mind, so don't experience anything different. One player who I admire in this aspect is Krychowiak who only recently come to England and I saw his social media posts travelling around the country in his downtime and visiting places. I like that kind of open mindedness, but unfortunately there's very few players like this.

Easier for the media to spin it as he wants to leave asap, especially when he hasn't scored in a few games. When he scores it will be "the settled spain striker was in fine form this weekend..."

You can't misconstrue quotes though. Brexit plays a role for many EU citizens thinking of the mid or the long term, even in the football fantasy island, both pointed to families and personal ties when talking this matter.

Don't see why players coming out and say stuff like this. Just looks like they are not fully committed to the club and when he goes through a rough patch, this will be brought up and questions asked of whether he wants to actually play for Chelsea.

Was a poor decision for Juventus to get rid of him in all fairness, or did Madrid activate a release clause?

Funny thing is that Real Madrid probably shouldn't have sold him in the first place, look like they could use him this season..
 
Feel he's under pressure from Batshuayi not London lol. Downtown Chelsea on his salary can't be all that bad...

I get your point, it's just that for me "PL proven" regards just the footballing ability but I do get you and I agree with you.

People always make reference to his goal numbers but at Juve he often played wide and at Real he has a top 3 goals per minute ratio in the league.

It’s a performance thread about a player I like, I’m just happy to be proven right in this case because he’s playing well. As mentioned in this thread, though unrelated, and I suspect I’m not alone in that, I got Matic wrong, I don’t see the problem with me commenting on Morata doing well and being happy about supposedly being right about him
